Upgrade your system with the Core i5-760 and own the processor that speeds up when you do. These CPU powerhouses are designed to handle the intense compute and visualization workloads like video games and image editing applications. Core i5 processors allow you to multitask faster and unleash powerful media creation tools.

Best of all, the 8MB of Intel Smart Cache gives you blazing speeds you never realized were possible. Take advantage of Intel Turbo Boost technology which dynamically accelerates CPU performance to match your workload. The Integrated Memory Controller optimizes data bandwidth with support for two-channel DDR3 1066/1333 memory.

Smart Cache provides a higher-performance, more efficient cache subsystem while the Core microarchitecture accelerates overall system performance across your applications through energy efficiency. Add the Intel Core i5-760 to your system and you’ll never look back. Experience the convenience, versatility and raw power of Intel Core i5 processors today!

  • newegg Intel Core i5 Quad-core Processor With four processing cores, the multitasking monster Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor delivers fourfold the performance on highly-threaded applications, taking your desktop PC experience into a completely new realm of mega power. The powerful processor delivers serious performance on the ultra-demanding games of today and tomorrow. The innovative 45nm quad-core technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
  • newegg Intel Smart Cache Intel Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from faster, more efficient cache subsystem resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost technology Intel Turbo Boost technology automatically allows processor cores to run faster than the base operating frequency if it's operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits, maximizing speed for demanding applications, dynamically accelerating performance to match your workload-more performance when you need it the most.
  • newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production, which means of enabling very high performance while also meeting the power-conservation needs.
  • newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
  • newegg Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows creating unique user environments for multiple family members using the same platform simultaneously.

How have I NOT written a review by now?! 12/17/2017 3:46:55 PM

Pros: It's 2017 now. I bought this processor in 2011 for the computer I built back then and it's been 6 or 7 years. I've done built me a new computer this year, with SLI and watercooling and a i7 5960x. This "Core i5-760 Lynnfield Quad-Core 2.8 GHz LGA 1156" has been, and still is, incredible, I don't know how it's lasted this long. The only problem, throughout the years, was that Microsoft forced Windows 10 down my computer's throat. I had to reformat it back to Windows 7.

I just gave my old PC (with the i5), and I'm going out to her place for Christmas and New Years (2017-2018) to get the i5 computer set up for them, because all the parts I bought in 2011 still WORK, (obviously including this i5-760 processor), and she doesn't get internet where she lives, and since the computer has been reformatted back to Windows 7, she won't get Windows Updates :D

Pros - It's been an awesome gaming computer, setup was:

Windows 7 Professional.
Intel i5 Quad Core 760 @ 2.8 GHz
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro Motherboard
8 GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) RAM
ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support
CORSAIR HX series 650W Power Supply
Antec Black Steel Case

And, the drives in it are as follows:

Intel 80 GB Internal SATA 2 SSD
WD VelociRaptor 150GB -10000 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"

Cons: A hard drive did actually crash during the years I had it, but that was irrelevant. I just replaced the drive. (it was a storage drive, not the boot drive)

-This computer made me play too many dang games in my twenties and I never had a woman. =P

Overall Review: Might say "In 2011 the Geforce GTX 970 didn't exist", In 2011 I didn't buy the GTX..I bought a AMD Radeon HD 6870 for the computer in 2011, but replaced that with the GTX 970 for better gaming along the years.

Still a reliable CPU 7 years later 6/19/2017 10:35:36 AM

Pros: - Has held up both physically and technologically over time

Cons: - No reason to purchase one any more.

Overall Review: I built a computer around this processor back in 2010. I still use the computer today. The CPU and Mobo still chug right along. I've got the chip overclocked to around 3.8 GHz the entire time, and nary a hiccup. Checking a recent Tom's Hardware CPU hierarchy, this guy is still in the fourth highest tier, and still gives modern processors a run for the money. WIth 12GB of RAM, my systems bottleneck is still the graphics card (NVidia GeForce GTX 580) for most modern games.. I should be able to probably get another 2-5 years out of the system, just upgrading the graphics card. A computer that lasts 10 years before becoming obsolescent to contemporary software is an amazing achievement.

This cpu is so old now but it's still running 3/3/2017 7:55:55 PM

Pros: will probably last forever (in computer years)

Cons: doesn't automatically update to latest cpu's :P

Overall Review: I run this cpu 24/7 for over 6 years and it's still ticking! It's relatively fast for it's age but nothing special and way outdated by now.

This is still being sold? 5/29/2014 6:32:47 PM

Pros: I had this thing overclocked to 4Ghz on a less than good Biostar board. Air cooled. Ran great. the only reason I upgraded was to replace the motherboard. I also got it for far less than what the current price here is though.

Cons: Finding a decent board to run this chip on is a pain these days.

P55 4/8/2014 2:21:22 PM

Pros: This chip is to old so really there are no PRO's at this Price unless you have a P55 M.B. that needs a new chip but at this price not a Pro. After this came out the 2500 showed up and what a difference it makes this chip night and day it still runs today it is a great chip but the price I got mine a lot cheaper back when.

Cons: To many con's at this price it's a P55 chip only and any newer chip at this price would kill this because of all the changes. They stopped making P55 boards several years ago so good luck that is the only board for this chip.

Overall Review: All this time and this shows up where in the heck would they find this antique for this price it should come with a board.

Simply awesome! 10/15/2013 10:14:46 PM

Pros: Just upgraded my system and swapped this out for an i7, but this processor kicked some serious tail! Had it running in my build for almost three years.

Cons: None!

Fantastic CPU 1/5/2013 12:07:38 PM

Pros: This CPU rocks. That's all there is to it. Running this for a couple of years now in a system used primarily for gaming. I'm actually gearing up a new system build that will most likely be based around an Ivy Bridge Core i7, but this CPU will continue to see use in some capacity, most likely for the makeshift recording studio I'm planning in my basement.

Cons: None at all.

Overall Review: Currently have this installed on an MSI P55-CD53 motherboard and cooling it with a Corsair H55 water cooler that I just installed on New Years Eve, upgraded from a Zalman CNPS9900MAX air cooler. Perfect combination.
