Crush your enemies, climb the tower of paperwork -- or do both at the same time. Intel's Core i7 processor not only makes it possible, it makes it easy. The Core i7 930 has four cores that run at 2.8GHz and shares 8MB of L3 cache.

Quad cores means true multi-tasking and multi-threading. One core handles the usual action on your operating system, while the second can play a DVD on the TV, the third download a file from internet, and the fourth one sends audio to the kids in another room without lags or stutters. All this is made easier with Intel’s advanced Digital Media Boost.

With Intel Turbo Boost technology and Intel Hyper-Threading technology, the Core i7 enables highly threaded applications or demanding applications to work in maximum speed without any extra effort. The 45nm Intel Core i7 processor is armed with Intel HD Boost, which implementing new Intel Streaming SIMD Extension 4.2 (Intel SSE4.2) instructions for fast high definition video editing and encoding, enhance the multimedia performance.

  • newegg Intel Core i7 Quad-core Processor With four processing cores, the multitasking monster Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor delivers fourfold the performance on highly-threaded applications, taking your desktop PC experience into a completely new realm of mega power. The powerful processor delivers serious performance on the ultra-demanding games of today and tomorrow. The innovative 45nm quad-core technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
  • newegg Integrated DDR3 Memory Controller With the integrated DDR3 memory controller, the Intel Core i7 enables three channels of DDR3 1066 MHz memory, resulting in up to 25.6 GB/sec memory bandwidth. Plus the memory controller's lower latency and higher memory bandwidth delivers amazing performance for data-intensive applications.
  • newegg Intel Advanced Smart Cache Intel Advanced Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared L3 cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from fast L3 cache, resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost technology Intel Turbo Boost technology maximizes speed for demanding applications, dynamically accelerating performance to match your workload -- more performance when you need it the most.
  • newegg Intel Wide Dynamic Execution With Intel Wide Dynamic Execution, each of the four cores can complete up to four full instructions simultaneously, improves execution speed and efficiency, delivering more instructions per clock cycle.
  • newegg Greater Performance with Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) Hyper-threading enables multi-threaded software applications to execute two software threads in parallel to improve system responsiveness. Intel Core i7 processors enabled with HT Technology deliver performance and multitasking gains that result in increased productivity and efficiency.

9+ Years Later, Still A Powerhouse 11/1/2019 7:11:32 PM

Pros: - Inexpensive
- Insane overclocking capability
- Lots of cache on chip

Cons: - Runs hot

Overall Review: Ran strong for over 9 years overclocked to 4.2GHZ on air, with a Coolermaster Vortex aftermarket fan. Always ran warm, but rarely had a problem. Intel mobo with 16GB of G.Skill Ripjaws (started with 8 to eventually upgrade to 16), several iterations of SSD (started with Intel and added a Samsung EVO 850), and several video cards (started with a Nvidia GTX 470, went to a GTX 960, and ended with a GTX 1060). This CPU does it all. Played every game I attempted, and even was good for software development. It was able to emulate 3 android devices, while watching movies, and debugging. I'm upgrading to an i7-8700, hopefully that will perform as well as this CPU did.

Great processor.

Woohoo! ** Update ** 11/22/2017 3:16:04 PM

Pros: Mated with an Intel motherboard, Corsair 6GB Dominator RAM, SLI'd nVidia250s this thing rocks!

I purchased this CPU for a build back in August of 2010 - It's still going strong! Runs Windows 7 Pro just as well as any new system would today. I wonder how long I can continue using this system??

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Can't go wrong with Intel CPUs.

Pros: Four years + and still running strong! This 2.8GHz processor is the easy to OC to 4.0GHz (water cooled)and no issues to speak of. Wish I would have bought another when I could.

Cons: Not available any more

A Beast of a Processor 5/2/2016 10:23:48 PM

Pros: I bought this nearly six years ago as part of a MAJOR full-tower build. Grouped it with a Megahalems Rev.B cooler, an XFX HD5870, 12GB of RAM, and an ASUS P6X58D mobo. For the last six years, it has been rock-solid. No overheating issues. No breaking. No nothing.

Cons: As with pretty much every Intel processor, the stock cooler is woefully inadequate to deal with the i7-930's temps even at stock speeds. You had to have an aftermarket cooler and thermal paste. There's simply no getting around it.

Overall Review: If it is possible for you to find this processor in the wild (being that it's quite a few generations in the past), do not hesitate to get it if you're in the market for a super budget CPU. You simply cannot go wrong with it.

5 years strong! 6/12/2015 12:33:51 AM

Pros: Very capable overclocker, still gets the job done against todays low-mid range computers

Cons: Hard to find, better to spend money on something newer if you can (you'll get more bang for your buck)

Overall Review: This little chip has been running strong for me for the last 5 years, I'm upgrading to a 4790K and about to retire this to my girlfriend as her new(er) photo editing machine. Overclocked it about 3 years ago to a modest 3.5GHz, on a custom water loop. Ran all the games I played, and still does without stuttering! It's paired with 12GB of Corsair XMS3 RAM & a Corsair Force 3 SSD, no hiccups from any other components (minus the video card that I had to replace)...all in all, I'd say I definitely got my moneys worth out of this little guy (and will continue to do so for as long as it'll last)!

4 Years strong. 7/23/2014 8:15:02 AM

Pros: I've owned this processor for over 4 years and it has yet to fail me. Overtime, I've replaced several internal parts except the board and processor and its still going strong.

Cons: None.

Going strong! 2/15/2014 7:20:54 AM

Pros: Great value, fast, does the job, been going for 3.5 years

Cons: None?

Overall Review: Despite the fact that my Zalman heatsink/fan has never made a full connection (one corner doesn't fully clip in the mobo) this CPU has never had a problem. It's pretty beast mode.
