Pros: - 8 cores / 16 threads
- Easily Overclockable
- Mo powah beh beh
- Good price and sales from NewEgg make this very competitive with other options
- Works on 8th gen Mobo's with a bios update (I run on Z370 Mobo)
- I am finally an owner of an i9.
Cons: - For a long time price was just too high for me to justify this over just keeping my 8700K but it has finally come down far enough and Newegg is really good with sales / bundle deals etc.
- Not the latest gen (10900k would be "current" as of writing)
- No cool Dodecahedron Box
Overall Review: - Even though this isn't the latest, I'm really happy with this. I saved a ton of money over upgrading a motherboard and buying 10th gen, saved a ton of installation time not having to take my whole PC apart to swap the motherboard, etc.
- Mine is running at 5.1ghz all core @ 1.312v - of course everyones results may vary. I might even be able to do it at higher mhz or lower vcore, too impatient to dial it in further at the moment.
- Saw some youtube videos about this being hot.. I haven't experienced that. Granted, I cool this with a 240mm AIO, and I use Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut as my thermal paste to help as much as I can... but this hits around 75C peak after a 10 minute Cinebench R23 run. More like 52-54C during "intense" gaming.
- Pretty sure I'll be able to hold on to this for a while.
Overall Review: I ordered this product on December 22 and got it less than 48h after and during Christmas time and originally shipped from the US.
Better than the big one with prime subscription (You know who I am talking about, right?!).
So again: Good Job Guys, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Everybody.
Pros: its intel so you know its going to be stable
awesome price
Cons: nothing
Overall Review: I waited for the price of this processor to drop before I purchased it and couldn't be happier. I'm still using a z390 mobo and was considering going to a 1200 platform but then this price drop put that idea to bed ,why bother jumping up to a 1200 system for marginal gains and a but load more money when i could use my existing mobo and get this gem for a much cheaper price and end up with a rock solid gaming machine. Ill wait at least another year and consider my options to see where the next gen takes us but for not this puppy can handle any game I play.

Overall Review: Runs cooler then the i7 8700k over clocked to 5ghz
Pros: The best upgrade to a 300 series board I've made.
this processor still holds some clout on most of the benchmarks that feature the top 10 intel CPUs.
Out of the box I was getting 5 GHz turbo on all cores.
Cons: sadly Windows 10 automatically updated with a microcode patch, so it maxes at 4.7 GHz all cores, unless I mildly overclock a bit to get 5 GHz all cores again. (thanks Meltdown and Spectre).
runs warm, don't even think of using an old stock cooler.
Overall Review: I was looking to upgrade, but with intel making very little progress in the performance jumps (even the 11700k is only ahead marginally), it made no sense to go full on upgrade with a new board and CPU. I don't mind not having a bleeding edge build as long as my apps and games run fast, smooth and stable.
I'll likely upgrade when intel gets stable production of <10nm wafers, but at the moment even the 11000 series is stuck in 14nm production. (we're not likely going to see the leaps and bounds intel made in past generational improvements because of the limitations of being stuck at 14nm for 3 or 4 generations now... lots of articles and discussions out there covering this topic.)
I paired this CPU with 4000MHz samsung b-die DDR4, and it handles everything I throw at it with ease.
If you're still on the 300 series platform I would highly recommend this CPU, i moved up from an i7 8700k and have been very pleased in the performance increase.

Overall Review: It's been eating everything I throw at it. From graphic design to gaming to just basic surfing. The i9 hasn't skipped a beat with anything I have put it through. It truly shines with multitasking and does it without even sweating. I was lucky enough to get it for a great price here and don't regret it on any level. The onboard graphics leaves a lot to be desired but that shouldn't matter at the end of the day since it isn't its main purpose.
