Pros: I've worked with PC's and networks for over 15 years. I was skeptical about a device like this actually working correctly. But, I recently purchased a canon MP500 series printer from newegg, and the thing is just too big to fit on a desk, so I needed a networking solution for it. To my surpise, this thing works perfectly. I have it installed alongside 5 windows XP PCs on a wireless network, and have it setup on each PC. Its working perfectly on each PC.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Driver install took me about 2-3 minutes per PC. I initially ran into a problem setting up the printer on each PC, because I wasn't following the instructions in the booklet exactly. It just seemed odd to setup a network printer on each PC on the LPT1 port. But, I did as the manual stated and it changed the printer settings in the next step. It still shows up as a printer on LPT1 on each PC...but online.

Great biscuit sized server12/22/2006 3:48:10 PM
Pros: This neat little biscuit sized Server is a great solution for multiple PCs networked at home. We are using it on both Windows and Linux PCs. Setup on Linux was a piece of cake and worked straight away. Setup on Windows was also easy and only complicated by the Firewall software. After some on line searching found that the Spooler Subsystem requires server access in the trusted network. You will most likely need the software loaded on Windows (we did) to allow the Print Server to be discovered.
Cons: We wish that it was designed with all cables on the rear.
Overall Review: We should have purchased this a long time ago. Hint: You can access the print server menu by keying the assigned ip address into your browser. It will be helpful to review the support pages at iogear before starting to install. Hope this feedback is useful to others.
Cons: Wasted 2 hours of my life trying to set up with a printer not on the compatibility list. I'm sure it works great, but I gave it a shot. Went ahead and called IO Gear tech support... the rep was a real d-bag.
Cons: If you have a printer status monitor that comes up when you print, it will no longer work because the print server does not support bidirectional printing. Disable it if you can, because you will no longer be able to use it.
Overall Review: Be sure to run the driver installation CD on all computers in your network
Pros: I got 3 Windows 7 computers printing in less than 15 minutes. The printer I networked is an HP OfficeJet J4550.
After reading several reviews I thought I would give it a shot. I didn't use the disk that came with the device, or follow the manual. I simply plugged my USB printer into the device and connected it to my nework via the included ethernet cable. Then, after plugging it in to the power strip, I went into my router's configuration through my web browser to see what address it was assigned. I just used the dynamic address given, but I may assign a static one later. After getting the address, I went to 'devices and printers' in Windows and selected 'add a printer', and then 'add network printer'. Next, I added the printer manually via TCP/IP and typed in the address that my router assigned to the printer, and selected my printer from a list (the drivers for the printer were already installed on the computers, so no need for me to install them again). Test page printed
Cons: No cons for me. It was a simple and easy set-up. Had I not read other reviews, or set up a print server prior to this, I probably would have have had a difficult time and had to call tech support.
Overall Review: To set up device without assistance, you will have to have a basic understanding of networks. It helps to read other reviews.
Works with Brother Label Printer1/31/2012 2:24:20 PM
Pros: Works as advertised
Cons: If you follow instructions, you can get it to work. But you should know what you're doing
Overall Review: Have it working fine with a Brother QL-500 label printer, although it's not shown in the compatible list. Install printer driver first, then the driver (downloaded it from the IOgear web site, didn't bother with the one included). Installed the driver and set a static IP address. Disabled appletalk, netware, etc. and it worked. Will have to wait and see on long term reliability. Used it to replace a Linksys combo switch/print server that got fried by lightning and they aren't available any more.
Overall Review: I have Windows 7, 64 bit and a Brothers HL-1440 printer not on comparability list, but it working fine.
Download the latest drivers from Iogear it will include the manual. Connect Printer Server to the Ethernet and printer if setup starts exit. Run the new drivers that you downloaded, and run setup, when you get to where it shows IP address such as 192.168.1.15 write it down then exit. Go to the manual and run setup on pages 32 to 38 on page 34 put in the IP address you wrote down then continue print a test page should work.
Pros: Does exactly what I needed. Plugged in my Brother HL2140, and I now have a network printer for my five networked computers.
Cons: I haven't had any problems with the device. Windows will sometimes set the printer to offline mode, but that has nothing to do with the print server itself.
Overall Review: I did not install the device with the included software. I plugged it into the network, went into my router's client table, found the MAC address, and made a static IP for the print server. I then reset the device, plugged in the printer, and added the printer through Windows via IP address. Just be sure to have your printer drivers downloaded or have an install disc handy.
