The IOGEAR USB 2.0 External HD Audio / Video Adapter instantly enables you to connect a high resolution HD display through your USB 2.0 port on your computer. Extend your desktop to watch HD quality videos on your flat panel TV or use it to increase productivity in your office environment. Adding an HD display to your computer setup improves your multimedia experience like never before. Watch HD movies on one display, while reading your email on the other. Expand spreadsheets across both monitors or increase your working area in graphics programs by putting all your pallets on the second display. IOGEAR's USB External HD A/V Adapter is powered through the USB cable, so no additional power supply is needed. By using USB there is no need to open the computer case. Adding a second video card to a desktop or laptop can be complicated and impossible in some cases. With the IOGEAR HD display adapter simply install the driver, plug the adapter into the USB 2.0 port and you're ready to go.
Pros: Added a 3rd monitor to my setup. My current desktop at work is a small form factor and won't fit one of our standard quad display cards (standard PCI-size, not low-profile). I popped this baby on and running it at 1680x1050 on a 22" LCD. I don't watch videos on it, but I did test a full-screen youtube video and it came through just fine.
Cons: A few times a month all displays will go out for a couple of seconds and then come back on. It doesn't really bother me because it's infrequent and very brief.
Overall Review: Yes, I consider myself a 5 for technical knowledge as I'm an IT tech who has done desktop support, help desk, and now specialize in doing product evals at work as well as managing our virtual environment. Please take a look at the CON. I would have given 4.5 stars if that was an option, but I don't think it was enough to drop it a full star, so I left it as a 5. One thing I thought may be a problem: choppiness THIS IS NOT THE CASE!! It's not choppy at all, to my surprise. I have this thing tucked in the back of the desk and heat doesn't seem to be an issue.
