How does the switching work? Do you have to cycle through all the ports? i.e. if I have 4 PC;s connected and I want to go from PC1 to PC4, will I have to press the button 3 times?

Yes, it cycles as you describe. As someone that easily gets annoyed at poorly designed electronics this switch is not bad at all. It responds quickly to each button press and the led color and positions make it easy to switch between devices quickly. We have one of these at the office for a barcode scanner shared across 3 PCs and it works great.

Will this connect two laptops to one printer, usb ? Paul

Yes, it will.  I have two desktops and a laptop connected to the same USB printer, keyboard and mouse at my home workstation, and I use the fourth port to connect flash drives for various purposes.

I like that is has no power brick and runs on power from the machines it is connected to.

I do wish it had four lights instead of two though.  The way you distinguish which port is active is that the two lights alternate between red and green.  Red on each light is one line, green on that same light is another line.  The instructions don't make that very clear.  It is a little confusing until you get used to it.

Does this work well with a USB powered headset? Specifically the Arctis 5.

Be sure to give the device power. It'll work unpowered with things that don't draw a lot, but my guess is that your headset will need some extra power. This has a mini-USB port for 5v added power, and it helps with things like my RGB keyboard getting enough juice.
