Pros: Rubberized covering
Cons: Dies early in your ownership - kiss your data goodbye!
RMA is a hoop-jumping exercise.
Overall Review: It's Kingston, so you expect it to last. That is not the reality of it.
I'm writing after the death of my replacement for the first one of these I RMAed to Kingston. Neither lasted more than 1 month.
RMA process is a major challenge - they want you to read off a number imprinted on the tongue of the drive which is next to impossible to read - to make sure it isn't a knockoff falsely labeled as a Kingston.
Hey Newegg - I sent them a copy of my Newegg SO and they said I couldn't trust you to sell me only genuine parts. I found the idea that Newegg would do anything along those lines highly insulting.
But they were polite about it.
So, I suggest you not get this flash drive. You can't trust it to last, and they don't trust Newegg to sell only genuine parts.
Sounds like a lose-lose situation to me . . .
Pros: Fast... when it worked.
Cons: Lasted about 3 months before it died.
Pros: Very Fast.
Cons: Didn't last. I have purchased dozens of Kingston drives over the years, so many that my wife thinks that USB Flash drives are all Kingston. This one failed after 3 months of light use.
Pros: Very fast while it worked...
Cons: Failed after two months. After looking at reviews this seems to be pretty common with these. Very disappointed with Kingston. I paid extra to get the quality!
Pros: -Worked well while it worked
Cons: -Died after about 2.5 months. Good thing I didn't have super important documents on it.
-I did safely eject hardware every time I was done using it, so it's not that.
Overall Review: -I might RMA it, see if it's worth the hassle. If I have to pay shipping, probably not.
-Looking at other users, I would recommend to stay away from this drive. Seems to have high failure rate after ~2 months.
Pros: Fast data transfer
Cons: Garbled data after 7 months of LIGHT use
Rubberized casing only
Overall Review: I purchased this flash drive in November of 2012 and used it lightly for several months, occasionally backing up files from other flash drives. The fast data transfer speed was great. I decided to use this as my primary flash drive on May 20, 2013 ("upgraded" from SanDisk Cruzer Switch with chipped plastic USB connector). This Kingston drive displayed garbled data on June 14, 2013. Windows format will not complete, and DISKPART clean also fails. I'm glad I did not format the Cruzer Switch drive. If I had, I would be mourning the loss of 25GB of data!
I like the physical appearance of the drive. However, there is no solid plastic casing behind the rubber coating.
Kingston devices have served me well in the past, so I'm very disappointed in the quality of this drive. It was my first USB 3.0 drive. I will begin using the Cruzer Switch drive again; that chipped plastic connector isn't so bad after all.
If you purchase a Kingston DTR30/32GB, please back up your data FREQUENTLY.
Pros: Fast while it works which is typically less than a few weeks.
Cons: Well here is my followup to my 3 star review below, before I'd even received my RMA for my first failed drive, I started using the other drive daily and now it too comes up as a SkyMEDI usb device with no usable disk.
Pros: It has a high capacity for data and a high transfer rate. Exactly what I needed for transferring large files and storing programs.
Cons: It stopped working after 4 months of use. Computer will still recognize it, but says there is a problem reading it.
