I put 2 small (Laptop size) 2TB EXTERNAL DRIVES " INSIDE MY TOWER, IN 2 OPEN DRIVE BAYS ( Secured by nylon tie straps ) ".  This way I would have my File & Back-Up drives with my tower when I went to gamming parties, etc.
Just so much more convenient than lugging around external drives plus my rig.
One other thing, my tower is Maxed Out with cooling fans & these external drives even run cooler (I checked with my gun style temp reader).
My next build, I am going to try to try a " RAID ARRAY " with external drives.
