The HV-670 eliminates the hassle of watching downloaded video only on a PC or having to burn to optical disc first. You could watch the downloaded contents on the small screen of your PC, or you could painstakingly wait to burn your desired video to a DVD and then play back using a DVD player.
Now, you can record directly to the hard disk off the cable or satellite (or, heaven, an antenna) and then burn that to your DVD if you feel the need. All in one neat box, LASONiC helps to ease the transition between cable box, computer and couch.
External 3.5" Removable 250GB Hard DiskThe LASONiC HV-670 DivX DVD Player supports direct playback of digital content from HDD without the hassle of having to burn movies onto DVDs. Record movies directly to the external 3.5" removable 250GB hard disk off cable or satellite (or even antenna), or download movies from the Internet using your PC and immediately play files back from the LASONiC HV-670.
DivX CertificationThe DivX certification ensures excellent compatibility with all versions of DivX video, DivX Video-on-Demand and all content created with DivX-Licensed software.
Powerful and Accurate Surround SoundWith the integrated DTS (Digital Theatre System) and Dolby Digital decoders, enjoy powerful and immersive surround sound like it was meant to be.

Pros: A good concept poorly executed. I had one unit that did what it was supposed to do which was play almost any format of video off of the HDD - but that unit had issues with keeping the video synched to the TV: Newegg replaced it. The second unit came and played great video, but within a week the HDD started to make a grinding noise. Thanks to Newegg for taking the return.
Cons: Two bad units in a row (with two different issues) really disappointed me. In general, the idea was good, but poorly executed.
Overall Review: This concept needs to go a little further and support w-lan and needs more flexibility in the user interface.
