Is this a genuine Lenovo 9 cell battery?

Yes - I ordered one of these batteries.  The battery that I received was not only a genuine Lenovo battery, but was also recently manufactured a few months ago.  You need to be careful when purchasing these batteries because there are other vendors out there that will try to pass older batteries off as new.  Remember to check the date code on your battery when you receive it.

It seems as it is a genuine. But something is not quite right - the charge and discharge time are considerably shorter then in the battery I previously own. As this it doesn't have a full, declared capacity.

How long does this battery usually last?

I have the 9-cell on my 4 year old T410 and used to get about 3 hours on a full charge, but now get about 2 hours. I bought the 9-cell as replacement for the original battery in Jan 2014.  The best part about this battery over the 6-cell is the fact that it sticks out the back a little - handy as a grab handle if you are mobile.

Will this battery fit the T430s?

support dot lenovo dot com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-4TCMN7 is a complete list and indicates that it will not. The only T430s compatible batteries are listed as 0A36309 (6-cell main battery) and 0A36310 (3-cell bay battery).

This is the exact same part number and 9 cell description as the one for my Lenovo W510, but my W510 is not listed in the compatability list here.  Why not?

Lenovo batteries and other options usually fit a model range.  In this case, it fits The T410/T510/W510 and other models.  When in doubt you could always go to Lenovo's website and check the part number.

This battery part number fits ThinkPad Battery 70++ (9 Cell - T410/20/30, T510/20/30, W510/20/30, L Series)

is this battery compatible with a t530?

The T530 shares the same battery as the T520, T510 etc.

newegg rep said it is not for the T530, but this item number 0A36303 according to lenovo website is also compatible with T530. could you please comment why you decided it is not compatible ?

Part number 0A36303 fits the T510 T520 and T530.  This comes from the lenovo accessories page of the Lenovo PSREF.

Question 9

What is the date code on these batteries? Even if they are new, Li-ion loses about 10% capacity per year... so they need to be "new" and "fresh", hence my question. Thanks...

The date code is in the bottom right corner of the battery.  It depends on when the battery was manufactured.    In any case,  this is a Lenovo battery and all warranty rights apply.
