Overall Review: My reason buying this drive was because I wanted a portable USB powered drive that I could pack around with my to client's homes. I also wanted a drive I could use when working on client machines in my shop that no longer had a working DVD drive installed in them. This fit the bill and it was under $30 using a promo code. I did not know about M-Disc but am very curious to try them out and it is nice knowing this slim drive supports them. If you are not familiar with M-Disc, just google it to find out more. Pros: Good solid little drive. Inexpensive when I got it and writes to M-DISC media. Works great when you have a good cable hooked to it. If you don't know what M-DISC is, go look it up. You want it.

Cons: The cable mine came with doesn't work. I subbed out an old, thin junky one without a ferrite choke (what would be seem to be in all respects a junk cable) and was instantly in business. I grabbed my multimeter to test and found that ALL the connections in the cable it shipped with have breaks in them. This points to a stiff cable that became brittle during storage and cracked internally.

Overall Review: It gets minus 2 eggs for the bad cable. I know that seems harsh, but if I didn't have other mini USB cables I would have had to either purchase an overpriced one locally with my fingers crossed that it worked or RMA the drive. So the cable itself gives it -1, and for it being such a forehead slappingly stupid mistake I'm docking it one more for a total of -2 eggs. 3/5

Pros: Firstly, we've got a decent finish. It's also very thin for an external drive. While the speeds aren't as fast as a desktop sized external, it certainly gets the job done. I needed a drive that supported M-Disc, and this fit the bill perfectly! The build quality seems top-notch and the drive doesn't feel flimsy like other external slim drives I've owned in the past.

Cons: The included USB cable could be longer, and the eject button should be silver or another color so it stands out better against the drive's faceplate.

Overall Review: Works great on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Pros: Works very well for such a light weight and thin device and the price could not be beat.

Cons: Though this unit works very well indeed it almost took a month to get the relevant information from the manufacture. The firmware updates( which were required in my case ) are only available by the use of the enclosed Disk. It hooks up to the proper LG site and downloads the latest firmware. Convenient no doubt, but unknown to the support staff and not mentioned in the very brief manual. Once installed my Windows XP (HOME) SP3 worked after the first unit was returned to Newegg as defective.

Overall Review: After 50 years in this Business, some of the best engineered devices are wrecked by poor or insufficient documentation and poorly informed Customer Service to 'reduce' the cost to the manufacturer.

Pros: Nice slim unit. Worked as advertised. Plug it in and away you go.

Cons: The cable is short. Really short. Like maybe twelve inches if that. I had to get an extension cable to run behind my desk to hook it up to one of my rear USB ports because I didn't want to take up one of my front ports. It only burns at 8 speed and reads at 8x because it runs on the USB 2.0 bus.

Overall Review: As long as you know what your getting this is a nice piece of kit. I decided to bail out on the traditional front mounted optical drive and I don't regret it for all the more I use an optical drive this unit makes sense. If I need an optical drive on another computer or ultra book I can use this drive if I have to. Its portable, its fast, and its inexpensive. You really can't go wrong.

Cons: 25 min . I used this disk drive for about 25 minutes .1. Acronis software was installed successfully. 2. HP All in One printer CD software was finishing installation- Drive got disappeared after Rebooting PC . Wierd clicking sound - and thats it , dead . Im out of 30 days Newegg return window. Lesson learned : use / check everything while you have a chance to return or replace.

Overall Review: I like LG products . I think i just got a lemon . Hopefully believe LG won’t violate my trust in the future . And - NO , i would not recommend this disk drive

Overall Review: using windows 8.1. had trouble originally when plugged into usb 3 port, but then in usb 2 it worked fine. then i discovered it was the cord. the one that comes with the unit is very short so i was using a usb 2 extension cord into the usb 3 port - that is when i had the trouble. when i just used the cord that came with the unit it works now in the usb 3 port. i tried a second usb 2 extension cord and it also malfunctioned. A little quirky and i need to experiment with more cords but the unit works fine if this issue does not create a problem

Pros: Nice design, durable case, ultra slim, plug & play, includes burner software. No issues so far. Price is right. Only need one USB cable connection with Dell E6410/E6510/E6420/E6430.
