Great product 3/12/2009 6:39:03 PM

Pros: I have two sets of these, I have had the original set for almost a year, and recently purchased a second set. Both sets came from Newegg. I love being able to stream movies, music and photos from my Windows Home Server to my PS3.

Cons: None, other than chance to brick a unit on firmware update. Lights can be bright, but a little electrical tape on the front bezel can fix that.

Overall Review: The original second set, one of the units was bricked out of the box, and I had to RMA it, Newegg replaced it with the current set received today, both units took to the firmware update just fine. I had to update the firmware to work with my original set. Cudos to Newegg!

Easy to use. 3/1/2009 7:46:12 PM

Pros: Easy setup- plug one adapter to modem and other adaptor to a ethernet device and that's it. No computer required to setup!
Worth the money, use with any ethernet device.

Cons: Could be smaller, but it is already tiny as is.

Overall Review: I got this at circuit city liquidation for around $30. I'm using it rite now...

Once working, rock solid 2/10/2009 11:21:12 AM

Pros: Once both/all PLE200 adapters see each other, you're good to go. 84 - 100mbit LAN connection in my house depends on how remote the room is, but we have 16mbit cable and no slow downs there.
Both adapters have worked perfectly - no rebooting / freezing / disconnects. So far so good.

Cons: Had a tough time a few times getting everything to recognize the connection. Eventually worked, but not sure why it took so long.

Ridiculously expensive, and I wonder whether different brands work together - anyone know?

Overall Review: My home network setup: downstairs: cable modem -> 802.11N router -> PLE200 adapter -> upstairs -> PLE200 adapter -> 802.11G router.

2 wireless networks (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs). I'm getting one more for my gaming machine so I can get rid of the 14foot cat5 cable coming out of my room!

Look elsewhere 2/3/2009 12:22:37 PM

Pros: low price? newegg's return policy for malfunctioning devices?

Cons: Flaky connection. Poor support from Linksys. Their redesigned website didn't have this product listed, just the newer models, so their support people couldn't tell me anything about how to get the fw upgraded. After over a week of frustration, I decided to return for a refund.

Overall Review: There is now a firmware upgrade available that may make the PLK200/PLE200 more reliable. If you are not feeling like being daring, get the PLK300 instead. It is fast out of the box (no fw update needed) and very easy to setup encryption.

Defective product with no support 1/23/2009 9:16:27 AM

Pros: Great idea. Worked well when I set it up. Very easy to configure and install.

Cons: Stops working after 2-3 months. Now there is no warranty from Newegg or Linksys! If I want to keep using it, I need to cycle the power on each unit 1-2 times each day. There are no firmware upgrades available. Linksys support says that Newegg shipped an old product that was no longer supported at the time it was shipped.

Overall Review: I think it is very poor business practice to sell a product that is not supported by the manufacturer, unless that is clearly stated in the product description.

Pleased with LINKSYS PLK200 ! 1/23/2009 6:09:43 AM

Pros: Background; I purchased this product to network a media center computer we have upstairs in our town house. Everything else is pretty much downstairs including the wireless router. We were getting spotty reception to the media center computer upstairs.

After installing this device, I was getting approx 70Mbps to the router and no longer experiencing skipping and stuttering when streaming video to our media center computer from our downstairs server.

Cons: None at this time.

Overall Review: Our home is relatively new so the wiring is solid. Results probably vary depending on wiring of your home, but if you are looking to network a computer in a distant section of your home and wireless is spotty, give this product serious consideration.

Decent kit 1/20/2009 1:02:57 PM

Pros: Offers a rock solid connection compared to my WMP54G which suffered from lots of dropped connections and general low speed due to the distance covered. Linksys utility reports a speed of roughly 22Mbps which isn't even close to the theoretical max but this connection is going from one end of my 2 floor 2400sq ft house to the other and down a floor. Rough estimate would be probably 150ft of wire and a breaker box between the outlets. Units are plug and play, no real need for the Linksys utility included on the disk.

Cons: The units are quite picky about which outlets they want to work in. The 2 included Cat5 cables are only 3ft long which severely limits placement unless you have longer cables or multiple outlets very close. LEDs are quite bright as has been previously mentioned so keep this in mind if you're considering usage in a bedroom. Speed isn't quite what I hoped it would be.

Overall Review: Box includes 2 PLE200 units and 2 3ft Cat5 cables, a driver/user guide disc, a quick installation guide on paper, and a marketing pamphlet with other Linksys products. I advise anyone considering this kit to take a good look around where they want to put them and figure out how long an ethernet cable they need to get to reach a few different outlets.

Works fine. Super. 1/15/2009 6:16:27 AM

Pros: Bought this to try and get a fast, constant internet connection between my computer and a Clearwire modem across an apartment (Wireless G seemed to drop out a lot at that distance, and I'm holding out for a 802.16 or WiMax router). I had to choose between this and the Netgear HD-something-something. This one had less "it got really hot/I think it might catch on fire" complaints, so I went with this. So far it seems to work pretty well. Setup was easy, and the Linksys utility shows the connection to stay around maybe 110 Mbps (I've heard people say that most 200Mbps-theoretical Powerline devices don't go higher than maybe 50, so this was surprising). Doesn't get very hot either.

Cons: The design is kind of bulky, tending to block other outlets and stuff. I have this in one corner of my kitchen with my router, modem, and fridge, all having to come out of two outlets. I have the Linksys adapter taking up the bottom outlet, with the fridge and other stuff in the top through a ~$10 power strip. The adapter could have been made a little more flexible in design to prevent this awkward arrangement. Also, a bit pricey.

Overall Review: Outside of the Linksys utility, I have another connection monitor that seems to waver a lot; sometimes my internet seems to be as slow as 2 kbps, other times up to 230 Mbps. So simple text web pages can sometimes take forever to load, but streaming video can also download really quickly. Of course, this might be due to my Clearwire system, or router, I'm not sure.
