With four wired ports and the wireless connection, you're ready to take on the Internet and all it has to offer. Or maybe, you just need a local network off the 'Net for your small office. Maybe you'll hook your desktop up by cable, and carry your wireless laptop to your favorite seat. Control and configuration are easy with Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3.0 (or newer). (It's best to do your configuration from a hard-wired connection, not the wireless.)
Could this be the router for you? That's your decision, not ours. But we'll be here, cheerfully waiting for you while you make up your mind.
Dual-band Wireless-N TechnologyWith Dual-band Wireless-N technology, the Linksys WRT320N provides faster wireless connectivity that's twice the speed of Wireless-G and offers the flexibility to connect on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency to avoid interference in your area.
MIMO TechnologyMIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) technology multiplies the effective data rate and uses signal reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area.
Gigabit Network ConnectionThe Linksys WRT610N features 4 Gigabit LAN ports that provide up to 10x faster speeds than most 100M network connections to handle massive data-flow needs.
High Wireless SecurityThe Linksys WRT610N supports WPA and WPA2 standards for use of the available supreme encryption regardless of client devices and features a built-in SPI firewall to prevent potential attacks from the Internet.
Pros: Good download speeds, nice form factor relatively easy setup (with windows) Linux users see below
Cons: I am running 2 Linux distro's on my Machine (Suse 11.1 Mandriva 2009) I could not talk to this router up using the default IP address. I called Linksys support and they told me I can only use their cd to do the initial config and told me to get another pc running windows to run their setup program. Fortunately I had a laptop running XP so I got it working.
Overall Review: Minus the setup issue ( for Linux users) I like this router and would recommend it. The Linksys rep did note my os and said she would send my info to management for possible future inclusion of Linux. ( And maybe someone out there knows how to get around this)
Pros: I had no problems with this router what so ever. Automatically picked up the DHCP from COX in Oklahoma City. Same GUI as most other Linksys routers. I was online in minutes. Range was vastly superior to my old no-name router. Up to 60ft through several walls with decent signal strength.
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: I would recommend this router to both beginning home users and tech savy users.
Cons: I have had no luck getting a good connection when paired with the Linksys WMP600N PCI network card even though the computer is only 20 feet from the router. If I can get a connection at all, it is at a slower speed, and I get a stronger signal from my old Dlink G-Band router
Overall Review: I bought this router and network card combo to avoid running wiring with the expectation of getting a usable high speed wireless connection. I consistantly get stronger signal strength and speed on my laptop using a 5 year old Dlink G-band router.
Cons: After running this router for a while, the connection speed keeps getting slower. If you power off the thing then power up, it speeds back up. Who needs that?? Need Cisco to come up with an update to firmware to remedy the situation.
Pros: Nice look and easy set-up. Replaced my 'old' Linksys Wireless G router. Set-up DVD worked well and I had no problems getting this one hooked up.
Cons: Range is not good. This was to replace my old Linksys G router that had been installed for 5 years w/out a hick-up. This router gives me the same or a weaker signal than the old router I had.
Overall Review: I had wanted to Dual-Band Router to work w/the 2 laptops and also my new Desk-top. I wanted to get a better signal then my previously outdated Router gave. This one doesn't seem any better than what I had. Could be I need to tinker w/the settings and drivers that came w/the Install DVD to get the better signal and take advantage of this new Router.

Don't expect any new features12/1/2009 7:17:17 PM
Pros: OK - its a router, it works. Easy to set up.
Cons: I bought this router as Linksys was touting the new home network defender as a way to "control your network." There are really no new access restriction features you didnt have in much older models. Still can't effectively block p2p...... spent 2 hours on live tech support before they woudl admit all this.
Overall Review: If you need a new router, fine but dont waste your money upgrading.
Cons: Crashes all the time now. The connection goes down and the router becomes inaccessible. Only option is to reboot. I keep it in a well ventilated area. It crashes randomly whether there is a lot of traffic or no traffic. It did this a few times when I first bought it but then it went away for a while so I stayed with it. Now it's been doing it again.
Pros: Gigabit, dual band (not simultaneous), after some careful reading in some forums DD-WRT flashed on this router without a hitch. Saw some reviews of this model saying 5 ghz N range is better on this router than the 610N, that is definitely the case.
Cons: Somewhat pricy, no official DD-WRT support yet, no USB ports like the 610N.
Overall Review: 22 days of uptime with 3 gigabit ethernet connections, 2 wireless N connections, and some G devices here and there. Not a single hiccup, and not too toasty either. Keep in mind this is with a lot of video streaming, network backup, and running a Jinzora streaming music server in my basement.
