Pros: At the time of purchase this was the fastest burner on the market and the price was perfect. Writes discs perfectly fine. Came with SATA cable and software (I didn't install it)

Overall Review: For those that say backup movies aren't recognized on the PS3 try blaming the disc rather than the burner. I used RiDATA 4x BD-R discs and they weren't recognized. However, when I used a Sony BD-RE 2x it played fine. I have ordered other brands of BD-R and will compile a list of discs that work with the PS3.

Pros: Quiet and Fast! Fits nicely in Bytecc external case, perfect color match. Comes with software.

Cons: Lack of manual with drive, but is now downloadable from their website. Software low on options for burning, can't get it to select a lower burn speed. Had some issues with making a couple coasters, but could be related to having it installed external. Being able to select a lower burn speed (1x/2x) with Power2Go would be helpful in testing. Just have option for max speed (4x) which is what the Verbatim BD-R is. Can't knock of an egg though since I'm not using the drive as designed.

Overall Review: Email from LiteOn tech says using external is not recommened, use only as internal SATA (probably more for 12x data requirements. Manual shows the following BD-R as recommened: Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Philips, Sony, TDK. Verbatim not listed.

Pros: 12x write speed on Memorex 25GB BD-R media (54MB/s)

Cons: Would only write same media at 4x with the firmware it sold with months ago

Overall Review: This is a great value burner. I read a lot of reviews stating that LG burners can burn Memorex BD-R at 8x...and now, who really cares when this thing can do it at 12x? The only concern now is to make sure your HDD can supply the data fast enough :)

Pros: Haven't had problems watching blu-ray's with Power DVD.

Cons: Have wasted at least 5 BD-R trying to finalize a burn with no success. Yes I have upgraded to the latest firmware.

Overall Review: I burn BD-R's with no problem using the same programs and my older LG burner on my other system.

Pros: Quiet BD/CD/DVD drive. The tray seems faster than previous optical drives I've owned. All the Lite-On drives I've owned in the past 15 years have proven well. The drive came with an 18" sata cable and PowerDVD9.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I've been loyal to NewEgg for nearly 20 years. Up until recently, UPS shipments have arrived within the 3 day ship time as advertised. However my last few orders are now taking 5 to 6 days. The other thing is that NewEgg is now sending a copy of my order to the state for tax collection. This negates the little higher price I pay to deal with NewEgg. For now this changes things. Another thing, the parts which come from Memphis are packed in oversize boxes with brown paper stuffing. It's a little disconcerting to be handed the package by UPS and have the parts rattle around in the box...

Pros: Worked fine when I first purchased it.

Cons: After using for about 6 months, I can no longer write BD-R discs. I constantly get an error writing to a specific location on multiple discs. I am using the same brand disc that worked prior. Contacted Lite-On support and did not get a return message for 2 weeks. Do not count on using their warranty -- they will not respond.

Overall Review: LiteOn needs to support their product as advertised in the warranty.

Pros: burns blue ray and dvds without a hitch. don't have much to say about the software that comes with it as to i'm not going to end up using it.

Cons: none that i'm aware of.

Overall Review: i bought two and would recommend this drive to anyone.

Pros: -Comes with everything you need to play BD, BD3D -Best burner for the money -I've burned at least 15 disc flawless -Support BD single and dual layer disc -one of the fastest on the market as of this review

Cons: Used multiple BD-R from various companies and at first I could not get the disc to read on PS3(major disappointment). I called Lite-On to report the issue, and they said as long as it burns the disc, and it's readable on the drive then it's fine.(bummer). **However I think a firmware update will fix this issue. I used Windows Image Burn to burn the disc next and it read on my PS3. I also used Burn Aware Free Edition and it works on PS3. It took me forever to figure this out. Seems like a revision of the firmware will hopefully take care of this.

Overall Review: I think that this burner is well worth the money. Although it would not burn a compatible disc to read in my PS3 using some of the best software(as of 8-8-2010) ex. Nero, Alcohol 120%, Image Burn. I hope they fix this issue quickly because the PS3 is one of the most successful Blu-ray players on the market. I encourage anybody that purchases this to install the Lite-On auto update firmware utility to get the latest firmware once it's released. The utility is called Smart Pack. Last but not least, if Lite-On is reading this, you should probably make updating this drive one of your top priorities considering most people who purchased this will want to play the disc burned on the PS3.(hint for a successful sale if you want to push product) If not, you will hear from me again, so until then, let's get to work!
