Can you bypass the control box and hook the strip directly to your motherboard (if it has the RGB pins)?

Yes but then you will need to read your motherboard manuals to see how long you can have it like mine I could have 6 feet but I would double check your motherboard manuals so you do not put it to long and cause a problem

Hi, can I cut it shorter to use? Is it gonna be hard to install?

Hello, good news. Yes, this can be cut to custom fit your application, but you have to be careful. It can only be cut where the scissor symbol is. You will find it on the areas with the 4 copper dashes. There is a thin line running vertically through the middle of the dashes with the scissor symbol. As far as installation goes, it is simple, but I had problems with the adhesive not sticking well. I used some two sided tape in areas where it kept falling off. Also, my remote pad was not very easy to use. Search You Tube for instructions on programming it. Good Luck with your project!

Does it stick or is it a magnet?

Its an adhesive. You get a ton of length, but it's kind of a pain to set up and the adhesive is not the greatest so it doesn't stick very well. If you can spring for the extra cash then I'd go for like the Nzxt Hue+.

How is the power connected?

There is a seperate box that plugs into the wall then it has a small feeder strip that attaches to the light strip, all in all it's 3 seperate pieces, 4 if you count the remote.

What size is the power box plug? is it 5.5 x 2.1 or 5.5 x 2.5???? please let me know ASAP

The power box plug connector size is 5.5mm (Outside barrel) x 2.5mm (Inside Barrel).

Can you cut the strips and still have them work?

Yes, you can either connect separate strips via the clip links provided or if you're not shy for using a soldering iron you can solder the 4 contact points from both strips using some wire and solder.

What kind of connector is needed for the power?  I'm trying to figure out if I can attach a portable battery pack to this item.

For the controller box (The thing that runs the lights.) It requires a 12V DC connection.
