very poor showing from Logitech

Pros: Two-finger scrolling works out of the box. It's a mouse and a keyboard and uses a single USB port (or none, if you already use a Unifying receiver). It's compact and sits neatly on the laptop's injured keyboard for which it was able to temporarily stand in.

Cons: This is the worst Logitech thing I have ever used.

I only needed a keyboard to use with a laptop while I waited for its replacement keyboard to be delivered, and I figured I could use it with my RPi later on. Well, its features are poorly programmed and some wrong things are presumptuously enabled by default. The consensus seems to be that it wasn't bad in the beginning but some firmware updates crippled it-- even with the official software, some things like tap-to-click seem to be stuck on. Also the default is for the F-keys to be the various shortcuts so that to get normal F##, you have to hold Fn hotkey. This is swappable to return to "normal", i.e. they are F1 thru F12 and you hold Fn to activate the symbolic shortcuts. But then you have to switch it over again every time you turn the keyboard off and on.

On the short list of real problems, it is possible to click the touchpad's button and have the click not register because you needed to press harder, so the sound you heard and tactile feedback you felt was simply false. Sometimes when scrolling on e.g. a web page with two fingers, a "coast" function is suddenly activated-- it seems I can cause it deliberately by lifting fingers immediately after a rapid scroll gesture, but that's too sensitive-- so it scrolls much further than I intended. I can't disable this function, so I have to learn to not trigger that, which is not what I signed up for. Also occasionally while I'm scrolling, the zoom will spontaneously activate for a few notches, growing or shrinking the text as if Ctrl was held for a moment. I have no proper explanation for that-- I was touching NO KEYS and I don't have any reason to think that I triggered a "gesture" on the touchpad while moving two fingers in a mostly identical pattern, twenty times in a row. It seems to "just happen" at random: each time it does happen, the very next time I touch and scroll again in the same way without missing a beat, it does not happen. Then I stop and hit Ctrl+0 to reset the zoom and continue reading.

There is no excuse for this.

I realize that the lack of official Linux configuration software is going to keep me from using it the way Logitech intended, and I know that I can basically expect to have defaults most of the time, but these defaults are horrible. Also the relevant support thread seems to have disappeared in a Logitech.com site redesign so I had to read from archive.org about how others (yes, even people who WERE using the official software) had steadily more and more problems getting theirs to cooperate. The thread was titled "Disable logitech K400 mouse click/tap-to-click", if it makes it through this form here's the link to the saved copy I was reading:

https://web.archive.org/web/20160121105903/http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Keyboards-and-Keyboard-Mice/Disable-logitech-K400-mouse-click-tap-to-click/td-p/737830

I finally just sat the k400 on top of the laptop in the shallow space where the original keyboard goes, so it doesn't cover the original touchpad. Now all I have to learn is to never screw around with the other screwy touchpad which temporarily sits where the number pad once did. Unfortunately I can't disable the mouse function independently from the keyboard function (well, I could just pop it open again and disconnect the TP)

Overall Review: I got this off the shelf at that dominating retail giant everyone either loves or hates. I'm leaving a review here because their site is broken and my review won't submit there. I should have just gotten a wired mouse and a full size wired keyboard and been done with it. The laptop isn't meant to be portable anyway.

If you like having dumb wireless things, if you have low expectations, if you are NOT accustomed to getting things set up more or less permanently in a way that is comfortable for you, then this device may suit you very nicely. For me, it was a mistake following a handful of mistakes that Logitech is making and apparently continuing to make.

I wish I could just get my $20 back but I had already opened it up to see who made the touchpad, so of course it's mine now. BTW the touchpad is by Azoteq with their own IQS550 IC on an I2C interface. I only wondered if it was as bad as the BYD touchpad in an ASUS laptop I had, and if I could do anything to work around the stupidity. It's not worth it.

Good Basic Function with Samsung UHD TV

Pros: No-brainer setup, two devices in one, compact

Cons: Does not provide all Samsung UHD remote functions.

Overall Review: While this this keyboard is not specifically designed to provide all Samsung UHD TV functions, it does the basics. Using the standard remote to run the web browser on the TV was a powerful pain. Now I can type and move the cursor on websites with ease and can enjoy the video content from the web (PBS Passport) without a major meltdown trying to use the standard remote to control the web browser.

Strange Delivery But Works Great

Pros: New in box
Fast Shipping

Cons: None yet

Overall Review: So this was delivered on day before my card was charged. Also, it came in a box from that big online retailer that has a smile on it's boxes. Also, it had gift receipts for that retailer in it as well. All the same cause it shipped fast and it's new.

Great Keyboard!

Pros: Price, Easy Setup and Great Battery Life. It's light and not clunky.

Cons: NONE.

Overall Review: I would recommend this for a HTPC build, which is what I use it for. I would recommend turning the power switch on/off when not using. The batteries have lasted over 2 months doing this.

Excellent HTPC keyboard

Pros: Layout isnt too cramped. The added track pad was the selling point for me as I wanted to have something to control my HTPC. Batteries last forever. Range is good.

Cons: The only con I can think of is the line of sight. The keyboard and mouse are unresponsive, if you even slightly block the line of sight.

Overall Review: It's cheap, works well and I'd definitely buy another one, if this one dies.

Great Product and Great Seller!

Pros: The product works as advertised and the seller was very quick to help and easy to contact when the package was held up in customs.

Cons: The range on the bluetooth is a little lower than I expected compared with other wireless keyboards I have used, but overall a great product.

Overall Review: Yes, I would recommend this seller and this product to a friend.

Perfect for HTPC

Pros: - Batteries will last a very long time in this thing.
- Mine still works after 32 months.
- Keys feel nice.
- Great value.
- There's a button in the top left that acts as a left click. This makes the grip of the keyboard more natural & you can get things done faster because of it.

Cons: N/A

just a heads up

Pros: best value for what you get

Cons: none

Overall Review: This is a great product ive owned several, this review is just a friendly reminder to double check who the seller is. I did not know until after i purchased this one that it was shipping from china, it four days to charge my account, another day and a half to get a tracking number and almost a week after that i still have no idea when it will arrive. I had to buy another one from @m@zon in order to get it within the time frame that i needed it. Not sure what i will do with this one when it arrives, I mat just RMA it. Love Newegg,, great products, best sorting options and comparable prices. Just not happy with this particular seller.
