Pros: large cache (the drive is actually slower than WD320JB+ more CPU load)

Cons: I bought this drive 6 months ago, and the first delivery received was not working at all and RMA-ed. It took me a week to receive the second drive, which is a refuribished product. I am desperated because I paid the price of a completely new drive + extra shipping cost of the RMA, and a refurbished drive was received. It is not the main reason why I gave it low score. The main reason is that this drive runs hot and noisy. There is an obvious spinning noise when it starts. I just use this drive once a month to backup my projects and document, even though my WD RAID0 has never failed. However, this drive is dying now. I just connect this drive to my PC when I backup. I just used it 10 times, dude. I want to give Maxtor 10 middle fingers. Consider WD320JB if you are going for a IDE 3xxG HD (just costs $1 more). Maxtor does not deserve any pitty.

Pros: I did my home work befor it arrived . went strait to maxtor's web site and downloaded MaxBlast4 and Big-Drive-Enabler. you run them both befor installing , makes it a walk in the park to transfer the operating system strait over to this 300GB drive or what ever you want to make of this drive! Awesome software it prints you out a step by step customized to your system and configuration . Super quit and fast. I would recomend this drive to any one .

Cons: Worked GREAT till this morning when the Hard Disk stoped spining... this is the 2nd maxtor that has done this to me in the last year... Had this one for about 4 months. Thats only the start of it, i am now being lead on a wild goose chase as to where to get an RMA since Seagate just bought Maxtor. So this ordeal should be fun... thanks to my back up Wxxxxxn Dxxxital.

Pros: I purchased two of these drives in January, and install them as soon as I received them. I used Windows XP Disk Management in Computer Management under Administrative Tool to format the drives. Everything went very smoothly. I now have been using them everyday for about a month now and they are still working perfectly fine. They are also very quiet compared to old (Maxtor D740X-6L) hard drives that I replaced with these larger, quieter, and faster drives. I am well satisfied with my purchase from Newegg.

Overall Review: Wished they were 500Gb.

Pros: Nothing spectacular other than it is quiet and runs slightly cooler than most of my past drives when not under full load.

Cons: Gets super hot under full access for longer than 2 min during which it draws almost twice as much juice as my other similar drive. This could be really bad for someone who has a marginal PS.

Cons: I had this drive for about 3 months and it worked great up until it died. Head failure and now all the drive does is click.
