I just bought one and didn't receive a mounting disc. Is there such a thing?

You can screw it into a camera tripod, screw goes into the threaded hole, or bend the flexible U-shaped part around a monitor top, etc.  Software is a download from Microsoft, Windows Update will probably install it (or try to) whether you want it or not.  Will work with plain Windows webcam driver.

Does the software that comes with camera have a control panel for zooming, tilt, etc?

It's a fixed mounted camera. It cannot move left and right or up and down. Being a Microsoft product once you plug it in your PC downloads what it needs from Microsoft.

It's an ok camera, I would not buy it again

In addition to being able to rotate, does it pivot easily? I am trying to record lectures from my seat without having to put a camera on a separate mount.

that should not be a problem if, the speaker stays near the podium and you are not sitting in the front row. The camera is exceptional, an excellent purchase. It is however not suitable for Windows Hello

If I understand your question correctly, it covers nearly a whole 10x10 room if you have it on a monitor against one wall of the room. I think the lens is a 2.8mm by the looks of the image. You can zoom it with the software that comes with it
