Microsoft Black USB Wireless Standard Optical Desktop 700 v2 - OEM

Pros: Looks sleek, Wireless, Mouse and keyboard, USB, Media Keys

Cons: HORRIBLE range! I bought this to use with a home theater pc, with the expectation of being able to use it across the room. ( ~10ft ). I've not owned a wireless keyboard / mouse before that didn't work at that range. The range on this is about 3 feet, and even then the key presses don't always register and is rather sketchy.

Overall Review: If you're looking for a good wireless desktop, try finding something better. The price is right but the product is wrong.

Pros: It worked.

Cons: No batteries included and you need 2 AA and 2 AAA. No instructions so had to find on blog what order to hit connect buttons to get it to sync. Mouse goes dormant after a few min. of inactivity and only awakes by moving wheel.

Overall Review: Do not have issues like this with my Logitech keyboard at work. Got this for home use as the price was much lower, but might get a Logitech if I can not stand the dormant after a while.

Pros: An inexpensive wireless keyboard/mouse combo - comes with a USB wireless receiver with a 1 meter cable - can locate it anywhere that far from the PC. Keyboard & mouse work up to 10 feet away from receiver, maybe further. Keys on the keyboard are not stiff (short-stroke) like laptops. Mouse optics are precise, but, not so,the scroll wheel. On scrolling, it was a tad too "sloppy" - "overshooting" lines of text in Internet Explorer. Maybe that can be adjusted in Mouse, Control Panel. The sleep function works well. The devices go dormant on their own through the WIN XP OS - 5-10 minutes? Simply scrolling the mouse wheel brings the PC out of sleep quickly, as does stroking a keyboard character - both work. While not extremely elegant, this combo is fully functional as a wireless input solution. This is a lot of value for a $22 product. Local retail cost for a KBD alone can be double this. Don't believe most reviews having DOA's. This is an knowledge issue. Be Googlers, dudes & dudettes...

Cons: OEM (barebones product). No manual, no (4) batteries. No status LED's on keyboard (when troublshooting during setup). You don't know if the batteries are dead, or, if you are really connected. You have to see if you have "input", using your monitor (that's cool knowing you got such a good price AND wireless functions). Opening the battery compartment on the mouse was not intuitive. Be careful the cover's clips can break - the keyboard cover was easy. The mouse scoll wheel will take some getting used to. It is not extremely precise, but, it "rachets" normally. DO NOT LOAD DRIVERS for this combo. Doing so will cause guaranteed random quirky results and speed issues with BOTH input devices. Specific hardware drivers are NOT written for this product. WIN XP OS recognizes the USB receiver itself. Intellimouse feature software is NOT written for this specific combo. Someone wrote it works, though. Install the hardware first, (when WIN XP configures the receiver), THEN, load Intellimouse.

Overall Review: To make the keyboard and mouse connect: Ensure there are 2 fresh AA batteries in the mouse, 2 AAA's in the keyboard. Power your PC on & login. Once the desktop loads, plug in the MS USB Wireless Receiver. Windows XP OS should recognize the USB receiver. Once recognized, hold each device near - 2 or 3 feet away. Then, IN THIS ORDER: 1) flip the keyboard over and push the "Connect" button near the battery cover. Release. Open notepad. Try typing characters. It should work fine. If not, repeat. 2) turn the mouse over and press "Connect" button. The cursor should start moving on your desktop. If you still have problems, repeat the whole process starting with a reboot and the receiver disconnected. Try another USB port on repeated attempts. I am amazed not many reviewers understand the OEM term (Original Equipment Manufacturer). I means it is a "name" brand product and is sold "as is" - which means no instructions, no frills. Just like buying an OEM "bare" hard disc drive. Sabe?

Pros: Cheap, Wireless. Microsoft branded.

Cons: BIG CON: It was missing the batteries even when the manual says it should come with the batteries. when I buy a cheap keyboard I don't like spending extra on the batteries. The mouse occasionally hangs and I can't figure if its the mouse waiting to "wake up" or it actually lost the connection.

Overall Review: I don't know why people are complaining for the range, this is a very cheap model of the wireless keyboard + mouse combo. Don't expect it to match the performance of your $100.00 + wireless sets. My application was to have it without wires because it is easy to pull out, yet it is sitting within six inches from the receiver.

Pros: NewEgg as always, rocks! Item was delivered quickly and packed well. I love NewEgg!!!! I don't have pro's to report about the product however.

Cons: I will admit right up front that I've only had a couple of wireless kb/mice and I am not that fond of them. The price was right and so I thought I would give this a try. I put some fresh batteries in (OEM didn't come with them) and plugged in the receiver. Getting the keyboard and mouse to connect was easy, but the issues once connected were a pain. I had read reviews about the range being short, but that shouldn't have been a problem for me because the keyboard/mouse was about 1 foot away from the receiver. The keyboard worked ok for the most part except that on occasion I would type a key and it would make it. It did this enough that there is no way I could use it on a daily basis. The mouse was even worse as it would go to sleep in 10 seconds and when you moved it the first 1/2 second or so of movement was lost. So basically you would have to wake it up everytime you wanted to use

Pros: Decent looking keyboard

Cons: Keys feel a bit worn Spacebar needs more "pop" when pressed Signal strength from <1' is interittent Driver unavailable for d/l, but is not needed

Overall Review: Worthless for gaming Replacing batteries did enhance signal strength This is worth zero eggs, but is not an opton; so"one egg" it is....

Pros: Works well, very easy installation, good wireless reception, doesn't take up half the desk. Mouse has a nice feel. I like this keyboard more everyday.

Cons: When I purchased this shell shocker it was described as having a sleep button.... it does not. They have since changed the description to more accurately describe this keyboard. But the retail version still describes it as having a sleep hot key. ?? Intellitype and Intellipoint don't include this model in the setup options.

Overall Review: This is my second attempt at a review, the first never showed up. A workaround for no sleep hot key is to put a standby short cut on the task bar. The mouse goes to sleep after a few minutes and wakes up with a click. I think the battery life is going to be eggcellent as a result of these new power saving features. Also, if you install Intellitype and choose the Multimedia Keyboard, you can get some added features for the volume control buttons.

Pros: Ummmm.... It is functionable!

Cons: The range is about 3 1/2" from the receiver. The mouse is uncomfortable to rest you hand on.

Overall Review: I did not purchase this because I expected performance. I purchased it because I needed NAS peripherals. I didn't expect it to be this terrible though. GOOD JOB MICROSOFT!!!!!! the only reason why I bought this was because it was on sale with free shipping.
