Love win 7 but dont get full version, get upgrade version7/29/2012 11:52:59 AM
Pros: I love windows 7 and home premium is all you need
Cons: none
Overall Review: Dont get full version, get upgrade version because if you have any other windows version laying around, you can use the upgrade version as a clean installed new version
steps:
-install old windows (ex. Windows XP)
-restart computer and boot off of windows 7 disk
-some time before the installation starts for 7, it will ask you what partition you want to install to
-here you can reformat and delete the XP partition and 7 will install to the completely blank partition
So basically you install to a blank hard drive. It doesn't get any cleaner than that!
Cons: To many people claiming to have "High" tech knowledge and then spew nonsense. The person that claimed Windows 7 took 44 hours to install I would suggest that you upgrade your Commodore 64. There is obviously something wrong with your hardware
Overall Review: It is really getting old reading reviews from people who mark their tech level as "high" and then write bone headed reviews about how something doesn't work. Or that Windows 7 doesn't work with their old hardware. How can it be Microsoft's fault that the old hardware you have doesn't have 64-bit drivers??? Statements like like prove that your tech level is not high. Just because you can plug in peripherals and play a video game does not make you a tech
Pros: Make sure you know this is for UPGRADING ONLY
Cons: for xp you have to try and follow their over complicated steps... just boot from disk and go to custom install and it will make a new file Windows.old for all your old files. No need to do a data transfer and all the mess they suggest.
Upgraded from XP on old computer9/19/2011 5:33:38 PM
Pros: Very easy and quick to install. Installed it on a 6 year old computer with 2 GB of ram and it works better than XP.
Cons: Needs XP installed for the upgrade to go smoothly. Not just the disk.
Overall Review: I wanted a fresh install. So I had to install XP and immediately installed 7. I was able to quickly format the disk just before installation within the Windows 7 setup after it checked that XP was previously installed.
Awesome and Highly Recommended!10/29/2009 9:33:23 AM
Pros: Everything...this is NOT a 98 to ME upgrade. This is finally a true upgrade from Microsoft. The performance is much faster overall than Vista and most of the classic features can be recovered with a little research and patience. Great GUI upgrade, too. Finally, they package 32 and 64-bit DVDs together! *****Newegg is awesome, too! I had fraud detected on the credit card that I used to get the pre-order price, so I had create a new order at the full retail price, but Newegg refunded the difference after it shipped! I'm a customer for life.*****
Cons: None that I've found so far. My only frustration is that T**tle Be*ch lags by about 3 months with new OS drivers; that's why I'm switching my sound card and never going back. I do recommend a clean install, but you should do that every time you upgrade to a new OS in order to avoid bugs.
Overall Review: If you're complaining about this upgrade, then you're PC (or some of its components) are outdated or you're an idiot. Yes, you can do a clean install with an upgrade disc; G**gle it. Yes, the upgrade media is bootable; check your BIOS settings. Of course you can't go from 32-bit straight to 64-bit without a clean install. It's like trying to put a V8 into a Yugo, it just doesn't fit. For those of you that can't find the 64-bit DVD, try looking underneath the first DVD in the box. Those of you complaining that it's slower didn't do a clean install, did you?! Of course it'll be buggy and run slow, you've been feeding stuff into the PC for a couple of years, mucking up your registry. GARBAGE IN=GARBAGE OUT! This will not be fully compatible with PCs that were designed solely for XP, so yes you will need to upgrade some hardware and software if this applies to you.
Pros: Windows 7 is the best Operating System Microsoft has made. Installed, set up and activated with no problems. This was for my Daughter's 6 year old laptop with vista basic on it. It really perked up the old laptop and made it run much better.
Cons: I can't find one.

Cleaner and easier install than XP5/30/2010 5:18:05 AM
Pros: Install was quick and clean, with fewer questions than XP. It was up and running in less time than it took to build my pc. I'm new to 64-bit, which was needed in order to make use of all 4GB of memory I had.
Cons: "Administrator" access is not true Administrator. If you don't know Vista, learn all about the UAC or google "win7 rights". Mark all your game EXEs to run as Administrator to avoid problems. I kept thinking it was due to the 64-bit version, but it was as simple as this. It's Windows which has become as common as water.
Overall Review: This is the upgrade version. That said, I was able to install into a new hdd, mb, cpu, vid card build with no issues. It didn't require previous version to be installed as some people suggest. Read on MS website to learn what they mean by "upgrade". It's different than upgrade-in-place, which is when you install on top of an existing install.
Pros: I love windows 7 and home premium is all you need
Cons: none
Overall Review: Dont get full version, get upgrade version because if you have any other windows version laying around, you can use the upgrade version as a clean installed new version steps: -install old windows (ex.
