Cons: Microsoft's care anymore about what it's customers want. They've been taking choices away from their customers for years, (with the exception of the release of Windows 7), but now with the inception of it's Windows 10 OS, they want to terminate the most robust and streamlined operating system that was ever built by the company-------Windows 7!

On top of that, they caused so many headaches for users over the years by releasing unnecessary updates that, in many cases, caused all types of errors for it's customers. And while that might seem like a huge drawback, when you compare it to Win10's update history, nothing much has changed in that regard. They are still causing huge headaches, and, oh yes, even black and blue screen errors to this very day.

Those whom know how to circumvent the unnecessary updates for Win7 and have enough patience to make the necessary configurations for system hardening, including tightening group policy, should have no problem securing and maintaining Windows 7 for many more years to come.

Microsoft wants you to believe that you're vulnerable if you stick with Windows 7 and that's simply not the case. Windows 7 is a perfectly stable operating system, that, configured and secured correctly, will continue to provide a smooth experience for users even beyond the 'End of Life' support date.

The reason Microsoft resorted to very aggressive (questionably ethical) Win10 campaign tactics during it's release, was because it wants to maintain it's multi-billion dollar cash-cow ad-marketing network, which produces billions of dollars in revenue for the tech-giant. All the while, paying customers are forcibly subjected to forced advertising and major privacy violations, including Microsoft's admitted exploitation of a citizen's (P)ersonally (I)dentifiable (I)nformation, simply by way of agreeing to the new ELUA and ToS agreements one is required to agree to before using their new privacy-violating system.

Windows 7 may not be perfect, but it's pretty close. Win10 on the other hand is the worst OS Microsoft could have ever created.

Overall Review: Robust Operating System that provides a very streamlined experience as well as extensive software and hardware compatibility. ( Just steer clear of devices that use Intel Kaby Lake, AMD Bristol Ridge, or AMD Ryzen processors, as Microsoft conveniently decided to force compliance with their intent to block Windows 7 from receiving any updates with that particular hardware ).

FYI: For those less tech-savvy out there, that is really not a huge limitation for there are still plenty of solid hardware configurations, including a huge selection of fast CPU's that still work fine with Windows 7.

Don't believe all the hype and pomp and circumstance from Microsoft! They want you to do what they say. They don't care about you. They only care about their bottom line, which is why they continue to push Win10 all the time now. Rest assured, if they couldn't convince a large segment of the population to switch to Win10, they would undoubtedly lose billions of dollars in ad-revenue from those forced, privacy-invading advertisements and telemetry Microsoft imposes on it's paying customers.

If someone went through the mail in your mailbox and started opening and reading all your mail, it would be a serious crime-------yet when companies like Google and Microsoft do it, somehow they should be excused from culpability for such exploitation?!-------Palease!!!

NOT SUPPORTED WITH CURRENT GENERATION PROCESSORS! 5/18/2018 6:23:53 PM

Pros: Younger than WinXP (my preference), not as "Big Brother" like as Win 10

Cons: Contrary to what I've seen on every site, Windows 7 is NOT SUPPORTED by Microsoft on current generation CPU's. You can get SOME updates but then you get a constant nag screen telling you that your hardware is not supported and you must upgrade to Windows 10. WRONG! I'll use this since I shelled out the $$ for those few programs that REQUIRE Windoze, but other than that I'm doing a REAL upgrade and running Linux on my new systems.

Overall Review: I would NOT recommend this if you are building a system with current processors or chipsets. My system is:
ASUS B350M-E
AMD A8-9600
8Gig DDR4-2400
500 Gig, 7200RPM drive

Good Product!! 5/4/2018 10:29:54 PM

Pros: Very easy to understand directions. Don't see what all the fuss is about this new "scratch-off" method, although why did Microsoft wait until now to scratch off the Product Key, it simply amazes me but all that really happens is that a coin will suffice in taking off the junk used to cover it. It might go slowly, again go slowly, and don't dig it off......if you feel tired. stop and rest up. But why does Microsoft even use that stuff. They call it anti-piracy. And it took them until NOW to find a better way?

But still, everything was OK, just take it easy.

Cons: Slow, but worth it

Great product. Second only to XP Pro, however I know XP is gone for good. 2/6/2018 10:34:44 AM

Pros: Have had good results with the OS.

Cons: I wish I had known about the Product Key sticker problem when I bought it from Microsoft last year. Completely useless $100.00+ piece of plastic

Overall Review: Yes, I would. Just be very careful with the Product Key removal of the covering over it or you will be stuck with a useless piece of plastic. :(

Still the best operating system 12/27/2017 12:39:27 PM

Pros: -Evidently the top processor manufacturers made a deal with MS that Coffee Lake processors would require Windows 10
-Not true, Windows 7 is perfectly compatible with the latest gen Core-i7 processors and the latest MB

Cons: -Obtaining drivers and updates is possible but not easy with certain processors and motherboards

Overall Review: -Will be using this operating system for a long time even past the EOL currently scheduled for January 14, 2020

Fast and easy to install with no issues 12/24/2017 7:20:44 AM

Pros: It's nice to have a Windows OS that is still ad free, app free, spyware free, tile free, and nicely designed for desktops users.

Cons: none so far

Overall Review: Would highly recommend for users frustrated with not having full control over their computer settings and privacy.
