Finally, a version of Windows I'm not settling for!12/4/2009 3:24:51 PM
Pros: Both 32-bit and 64-bit DVDs are included. It installs in your operating system and it is unnecessary to boot from the CD. It runs VERY fast compared to Vista. Aero looks great and runs very smoothly. It's not as paranoid of every program as Vista was (you can control the security alerts, unlike with Vista.) It has XP mode, which has already made itself useful to me. It utilizes my hardware better than Vista and is much more compatible all around. I LOVE it!
Cons: It's basically Vista, but everything works a lot better. This is a good thing, but don't expect a brand new product. The User Account Controls are still fairly annoying, but much more manageable. The task bar is still the same format, which I never liked from the start, but it's at least a bit cleaner.
Overall Review: See, Mac, Microsoft can release an OS without problems from the start!
Pros: Follow up review;
I was previously dual booting with XP Pro, I dumped XP after a week. Just did not need it anymore. This os is superior to any other Windows os. Running 64 bit all the way with 8 GB ram.
Cons: This might be just me, I don't know;
clean install, no matter what partition options I choose will always leave around 100 MB unpartitioned space at the beginning of the drive. I just can't seem to get around this while attempting set up partitions with in the install disk. I've heard bitLocker uses this area for it's installation, but BitLocker is not an option on this edition of Windows 7.
Could have purchased an upgrade version of Windows 7 pro and done the exact same clean install: save some coin.
Overall Review: Never do an upgrade install, always clean install fresh.
This os is what Vista should have been.
This os would run well with just 2 or 3 GB of ram. Very configurable and easily tweaked.
Pros: Windows XP Mode
64-Bit Support
AHCI /w TRIM support for Solid State Drives
excellent visuals with excellent performance
Cons: 300 USD for Retail but you can install it as many times as you need to versus only on 1 motherboard.
Overall Review: I do not regret for a minute switching from Windows XP Professional to Windows 7 Professional, excellent Operating System, can not even compare to the failure that was VISTA, worlds apart.
Pros: Windows Seven is an awesome OS, I never wanted vista as it was never as good as XP. i'M using RC7 at the moment, w/ 8 GB.
I have no need for ultimate they should have just included it in the Pro. version. Bythway..it does too work with the min requirements, just don't multitask as you will crash due to insufficient memory.
Cons: Just microsoft...how much money do you guys need? Sheesh. you really should allow more than one installation per houshold. Shame on you. Your greediness will probably be your undoing in the end. bythwy Bill? if your reading this I need around 100 G thanks in advance. other than that,,,None ^ 5 Seven team**
Overall Review: Still waiting for my tracking number for UPS new egg**hint * hint* I only know it was shipped.
Pros: Faster start up time than xp, looks nicer, runs smoother and faster. Installation is faster than with xp. It pretty much supersedes everything xp did.
Cons: None that I know of besides maybe some software might not support 7. I know some companies still use xp but they should be making the switch to 7 soon.
Overall Review: I recommend getting professional if your an avid pc user
Pros: -Installation was fast, efficient, and flawless!
-Current hardware auto-detected and drivers installed
-No issues so far!
Cons: -Price is still somewhat higher then what you would expect
-Having to reinstall all software in its 64-bit form
Overall Review: Overall Im very impressed with the presentation and functionality of Windows 7. It allows me to continue working on my graphic designs and digital art, as program standards are now moving to being windows 7 64-bit only.
Overall I would reccommend making the leap to Win7 if your hardware can support it.

best Windows yet IMO9/2/2011 3:01:17 PM
Pros: Seems quite stable, and significantly faster than XP. Haven't yet found anything that it won't run.
Cons: A bit overpriced for the non-upgrade "full retail" version. But I know this is Microsoft's fault, not Newegg's.
Pros: Windows 7 is a legitimate improvement over Windows XP in many ways. The ones that impact my everyday computer use include the window management keystrokes; libraries; Windows Backup; improved Wi-Fi network management; the new taskbar layout and application shortcuts; the option of 32- or 64-bit (this package comes with discs for both); the ability to search within for anything from files and folders to particular Control Panel options; and improved security.
The biggest plus of Windows 7 is that it does not get bogged down overtime like XP did, so making a routine of reinstalling your OS should no longer be a necessity for maintaining your computer's performance.
Cons: Price. My main computer used to be a Mac and the OS upgrades were much cheaper. Hopefully Windows 7 will be as long-lived as XP and I won't have to upgrade for another 8-10 years.
Overall Review: The software volume control/audio mixer is all but useless compared to XP--if you are building a machine, be sure to get audio drivers that provide an equivalent to the XP mixer.
