Cons: i didnt read well enough. i had to sell it to a friend (since it was opened), and buy the full version.
Overall Review: most of the time, the ppl that would be interested in this, has a pre-built system and wants to upgrade what it came with. DO NOT buy this if you are building from scratch and need a full OS. learn from my mistake.
Pros: Quick and simple installation. It took about twenty minutes from beginning to end. All of my personalized settings and documents were saved so I didn't have to back up anything (or re-do all my settings).
Cons: I was unable to install the Upgrade initially, because there were "important updates" (i.e., Service Pack 1) waiting to be downloaded on my newly-purchased netbook. However, the installation process didn't tell me what was blocking me from upgrading properly and I had to spend some time on the phone with Microsoft Support to troubleshoot.
Overall Review: This "upgrade" is a nice way to keep from splurging on the full version of Windows 7. Got this for my ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM (netbook) because I couldn't stand Windows 7 Starter. It was definitely worth the extra price but Windows 7 Starter is pointless and shouldn't exist, in my opinion.
Pros: Upgraded from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Home Premium in less than 30minutes over the internet.
Cons: License Key Only. You must have an internet connection to upgrade.
Also this is 32bit software.
Overall Review: Go to Windows Anytime Upgrade and enter the license key. Windows will do the rest. Got this with my ASUS EeePC 1015PEM-PU17 Netbook. Has all the bells and whistles now.

Anytime Upgrade - Great idea and inexpensive8/2/2011 11:41:58 AM
Pros: I own three computers: two with Windows 7 Home Premium and one netbook with Windows 7 Starter. I lived with the Starter version for a while and then realized how good Home Premium really is. Newegg's price was $30 cheaper than Microsoft's. So, thanks Microsoft for a great product, and thanks Newegg great prices and fast shipping.
Windows 7 Home Premium beats Starter hands down11/18/2010 4:53:24 AM
Pros: Very easy to upgrade and by far superior to 7 Starter Edition in every way.
Cons: That you have to pay extra to get a good OS for an already expensive pc.
Overall Review: The trend seems to be to squeeze whatever can be squeezed from the consumer these days. And while we are forced to buy some things that we shouldn't have to, fortunately we can save a few dollars with NewEgg to make it a little less painful.
Pros: This upgrade on my Asus EeePC took under 20 minutes to install and upgrade from Starter. Thou I haven't been a member of Vista Windows 7 Home Premium is an easy interface to use and very user friendly.
Cons: None!
Overall Review: Windows 7 Starter pre-loaded is a waist. Windows should just either load XP or Full version of 7.
Overall Review: this is only for those who bought a premade machine with Windows 7 STARTER edition. i did not notice this myself untill after i opened it to get the disks, so now im stuck with it.
Pros: its windows7 unlock key, basically.
Cons: i didnt read well enough. i had to sell it to a friend (since it was opened), and buy the full version.
