Pros: Amazing board, reach features, supports SLI, never had any real issues with the board. Rock solid performance and stability.
Cons: After couple of years chipset fan start being too noisy so I replaced it with passive heatsink. Had to provide additional cooling inside the case as the thing would get really hot. Never BSOD'd though :) - always worked great!
Overall Review:
This board is a second most expensive single computer part (after CPUs) I ever purchased. I own this board for full 6 years. For last two years I was using it less and less since I built another computer(s). Last few months it was laying on the shelf. Finally I will sell it (this is how I got here - while doing pre-sell research) as good used board in great condition.
I would recommend anyone to purchase quality (expensive?) parts, similar to this, so they do not have issues during the lifetime of the part. I am absolutely positive that this motherboard really worth those $$$ spent!
Pros: Ran smoothly as HTPC for six years.
Cons: It was a solid board and provided 6 years of good service before it went bad. A short time ago it started shutting down after booting and running for a short time -- usually less than 10 minutes. After troubleshooting by removing/swapping all components (RAM, CPU, PSU, all cards) it came down to the motherboard. Several of the capacitors have rounded tops, so I concluded that was the problem. Found a used socket 939 motherboard and everything has been running fine with all the other original components, confirming mboard as the problem.
Overall Review: While six years is a good run, it's still a hassle to have to spend time and money troubleshooting this issue.
Pros: Rock solid performance. I ve used 3 of these mobo's for friends and my father, and it will be my next mobo for myself. I have used MSI exculsively for my and my clients comps now for 2 years and I have yet to have a problem with any of them. The Sound Blaster Audio is a nice addition for MSI.
Cons: None that I can think of
Overall Review: Remember, if you use the Nvidia nforce drivers to download the audio drivers from MSI after you have installed the nforce drivers
Pros: This is a great mobo. it has so much to offer and very little trouble.
Cons: the bad thing is, is that the on board sound card has stoped working . I know it wasnt me but it lasted a good 2 months fine but then just stoped. Just a fare warning.
Overall Review: good price for what it offers
Comments: Be careful and make sure you have the 3.7 BIOS. Anything less can lead to lockups during boot. Not all boards, but some will do this. DO NOT USE LIVEBIOS! If you must flash from windows, use winflash. Overall, a good performer, but note that HardOCP did remove it's must have recommendation.
Comments: Got the mobo and am really impressed. worked with overclock and real setup easy without running too many complications. Can be difficult to configure and pin slots are confusing. driver programs and mobo systems don't get much better than this. SLI is a dream. Little or no lag time. Gaming is fun when friends are fragged and crying cause of blazing speed. Robert Blake could have gotton away with murder if he moved as fast this can. As I said, friends cry when they behold the evil power of this mobo.
Comments: I purchased this MB back around March of this year and I like it for the most part. Only problem I have with the board , and anyone planning a build should know is you can only have 1, 2, or 4 sticks of memory installed. This board will not recognize three sticks of mem. My nforce2 board had no problem with 3 sticks.
