A simple and inexpensive motherboard for the enthusiast or first time builder, the MSI K9VGM-V is a great starting point for anyone wanting to build a system or upgrade their motherboard. Designed with the small form factor case in mind, this motherboard will fit into most small desktop systems.
Equipped with an AMD socket AM2, suitable for Athlon 64 processors, including the X2 and FX series, MSI’s offering is more than capable of handling anything you may want to run. Using the VIA K8M890 chipset with integrated graphics in conjunction with up to 2GB’s of DDR2 memory, the K9VGM-V is perfect for those that don’t need a discrete graphics card.
It also includes a 10/100 Ethernet port, onboard 7.1 channel sound, and 2 SATA ports. With those 2 ports, this card supports adding multiple hard drives to the system through RAID 0 and RAID 1. It has multiple expansion slots, including one x16 and one x1 PCIe slots, plus an additional two PCI slots. For anyone building a dream system, the MSI K9VGM-V is a fine beginning.

Pros: Great performance, MSI brand, cables included.
Cons: The deduction of one egg was only due to MSI's failure to include 3 plastic motherboard "feet" for a board that does not match the generic screw patterns found in 99% of all cases these days. This leaves the IDE and power cables unsupported from underneath, so be careful not to crack/break motherboard with pressure when connecting IDE, power, and LED cables. When I find some extra "feet", I'm disassembling my tower and installing them. No onboard front firewire support.
Overall Review: Why can't motherboard manufacturers include a matching aluminum face-plate (back panel) for the board purchased? Additionally, whoever theorized "one face-plate (back panel) to rule them all" should be held accoutable for all wounds caused during installation or removal of additional port covers.
