Is this suitable for a security monitoring station? Monitor will be on 24/7

I would say it may be an overkill for a (b&w) monitoring station. It all depends if you'll be watching static images in b&w or color images of people moving around. You can probably accomplish the same thing with a cheaper monitor. If your security systems requires "HD" quality then this monitor has quite a good resolution. I initially bought this one for a user spending most of his day in MS Word and Excel and a couple of graphic packages. If budget is not an issue then this monitor will do a good job for you.
