Pros: Easy plug and play 1000BASE-TX switch to ensure gigabite Ethernet speeds across you network. Plug in your cat5e or higher cables and you're all set.
Metal casing with nice rubber feet. the build quality is nice and the price is great
Overall Review: a great way to add Ethernet connectivity to devices within your network. speedy and well built I've never had an issue with this switch.
Pros: Simple, small gigabit switch that works right out of the box, no software or configuration needed. Works perfectly in my home LAN supporting gigabit sharing, XBOX streaming, and home server. Simply reserve one plug for your wireless router and then connect your server, xbox, and other gigabit computers to the switch. Access your server super fast and easy with any wireless laptop.
Cons: None... works like a champ. Super cool and lightweight on power usage.
Pros: EASY to set up, ZERO adjustments. Just plug in and leave it alone.
Cons: Doesn't have racing stripes and won't solve world hunger.
Pros: Easy to install, no maintenance, works as it should and never needs attention, reliable
Cons: It won't win any aesthetic awards. LAN plugs and indicators being on the same side can be a bit unsightly on a desk.
Overall Review: I've pretty much standardized on Netgear for switches and wireless access points. Over the years I've used a few from each brand and never had a problem with anything from Netgear, including having to reset them. This particular one is in a dusty environment, worked from the start and has not cause me any issues. It sits next to a Netgear 10/100 (FS-108) which has been in service for 3 years with no issues.
I'll need another 5 or 8 port gigabit switch for that office in the next few weeks, and it will be another Netgear.
If you need an unmanaged switch with 5 ports, look no further. You may find better looking switches, but none that work better.
Pros: It’s 6watts, not 14.4. It supports 802.3i 3u and 3ab. It also supports QoS (802.1p and DSCP). Jumbo frames up to 9216 bytes. Also supports energy efficiency (802.3az)
It has one capacitor. Many say none, but it still has one. All ports have the same data rate spec, but port 5 also has auto uplink capability to a router. Power transformer is nice and fits sideways into a power bar taking up only one slot.
Cons: My long cable from 2nd floor to computer on first floor dropped to 10baseT, so that cable is hooked directly into router to maintain 100baseT. Switch has some kind of cable length detector, but not working as well as it should.
Overall Review: The switch is a Netgear GS105NA v5. Non blocking gigabit speed with auto sensing and auto negotiation. Ports not in use are auto powered off to save energy. Long life many times as to do with life of capacitors as they dry up. This has one and not near heat sync. Most switches have at least 3.
Pros: Works right out of the box. Very easy to expand your network if you have more pc's than ports. Just plug into a router port and the pc's you plug into it are assigned ip's from the router. It's that easy. Other pro's is the price. If your going to do is internet and game then this will do fine. I have not had any issues with large file transfers between pc's hooked into the switch so far.
Cons: None to list. The price and ease of installation make it a great device to expand the home network.
Overall Review: I see that others had a problem with temperature, but I have not detected this switch to be any warmer than the router or modem.
Pros: Just plugged it in and haven't touched it since. Also it stays "warm/cool" stacking it on top of my modem and router. File transfer between 2 of my RAID drive configured computer is blazing fast. Almost at the same speed as if both of my drives were in the same computer.
Cons: It's not 8 ports... Although they do have an 8 port version
Overall Review: It is connected to a 1x 100mb router, 1x 100mb computer 2x 1000mb computer. Also like mention by all the other reviewers, the picture is wrong. Its a nice 4"x4"x1" box.
On a side note I noticed my router doesn't need restarting every so often anymore ever since I started using this switch instead of the built in.
Pros: Great switch, fantastic product, quick and easy to hookup. Great price quick delivery.
Cons: None at all.
