Does this switch auto negotiate between 10/100 and 1G connections?

Auto yes. I got this to replace a netgear 10 port. It does a better job when traffic is heavy and dissipates the heat better. Do not expect 1g from any network, probably 150 is about the best any will do.

Question 2

Netgear released V4 starting from 01/2014.  Can you check if you have the latest V4 version or the old V3 version?

Our NetGEAR was purchased in September and would be the V3.
As the supplier, you would need to see if it is the newer V4 version.

Does this switch have POE?  If not, is there another model that does?

No, Jerry.  No PoE on that one.  As far as I know, none of the models with the "T" suffix have PoE.  The "T" suffix devices are the ones that can be managed over HTTP and SNMP.  The "E" suffix devices require a special Windows program to manage them. Its a great switch for the price, aside from the lack of PoE.

Question 4

How loud are the fans? I'm not going to be using this in a server room or wire closet, so something that sounds like a jet engine spinning up would be bad.

Unfortunately I have this router next to a server that sounds like a jet engine. :-) so it's hard to tell but from what I remember it was very quiet when I initially set up in my office. I would not be concerned with the acoustics of this switch whatsoever, I highly recommend it to anyone looking to implement LACP on a budget.

Question 5

I am interested in a ProSafe/GS-116 16 Port 10-100-1000, Gigabit Desktop Switch.  However, I saw the 24 port unit.  What are the differences in the two units?  I currently need a 16 port unit, but may need more ports in the future.  Would the 24 port unit provide the same capability as the 16 port, plus provide the future growth that I expect?

That's hard to answer.  On the one side I want to say, "YES, get more ports than you need...you will need it."  On the other, I would suggest at least shopping for a 10 Gig switch...in the interest of "future proofing" your investment.  It will mean thinking about cat7 or cat6a...but if you see Gigabit internet connections in the next 4 years or so; it will be worth the investment now.

Does this come with all rack mount pieces?
