money well spent

Pros: I've had this laptop for about 3-4 years and use it 8-12 hours per day. Its never let me down. battery life is great. it's fast and will even pass for some gaming with the gtx950. The SSD boots it fast. No complaints at all for the price

Cons: the screen isn't the best

Good Laptop for Gaming

Pros: -Plays most video games I enjoy on medium to high settings (ex. Witcher 3, Skyrim SE, Dragon Age: Inquisition.)
-Pretty decent battery life, lasts a few to several hours depending on what you're doing.
-Still works pretty good after over a year of constant use.

Cons: -The casing on the computer screen side is a bit flimsy. I've broken it off and had to get it replaced at one point, but it's not so easy to break as to be super inconvenient.
-The SSD card feels a bit small? But the HDD makes up for it for the most part.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this product to more casual gamers, or someone who just wants a decent laptop that's not too expensive.

Great gaming laptop for budget gaming

Pros: -The best overall pro of this computer is the fact you get a Geforce GTX 950M dedicated graphics card at this price point.
-Also really nice it has a SSD and a HDD, the SSD makes the laptop boot up very very fast.
-The screen resolution is great, watching youtube videos or playing games they just look great
Fan is also super super quite, i run a laptop cooling pad with it and its not very loud and i can never hear the laptops fan, its absolutely awesome

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Update: Ive had this laptop for over 2 years now and have not had any problems. Im currently looking at buying a desktop because i want to run more demanding games but this laptop works good for the money. Don't let the negative reviews fool you, some people are more lucky than others and may get a bad computer but your chances are higher for getting a good one.

Fantastic laptop for the price! but it has some issues

Pros: -Little/no noise
-Good graphics card
-SSD and a 1GB hard drive
-Quick startup thanks to the SSD
-keys are satisfying

Cons: -No Optical drive, if people still use those these days
-As others have pointed out, the screen ripples when you move it cause it's so thin
-The display seems low quality, it's got terrible viewing angles and just seems off sometimes. It may be because I don't use TN displays much
-Power button is on the keyboard, which I find annoying

Other Thoughts: All in all, this is a fantastic product for the price. Everything comes together great. Obviously being cheap as it is, it will have some drawbacks. But honestly, for a budget gaming laptop I couldn't ask for anything less. Although it has it's cons, I think most people will be able to look past them to see that this is a great buy compared to other laptops.

EDIT:
Alright, so the review I made was only a short time after owning the laptop. I changed it from it's original high mark to a low one for the following reasons. Along with the cons already stated, the laptop has started becoming a lot louder, to the point of matching the noise of my 6 year old laptop now. Along with that, the screen is extremely dim. As in when it's at maximum brightness it looks like other laptops at their lowest brightness settings. Even worse is that if it's ever unplugged, you can see the screen adjust in brightness for almost no reason. It'll get really dark randomly and then finally get a little brighter to the point where I don't need to be in the dark to actually view my screen. I'm surprised I didn't mention the speakers which seem to not sound that well either. The worse part is that the aux input is terribly designed. As in while I'm using my laptop, I spend around 60% of my time on it rotating and adjusting my aux chord for my headphones so the sound actually works. if I make even a slight movement and don't sit completely still, the sound will not work. I've come to accept the fact that when I use headphones on this laptop I will have to only listen through one ear at all times. I wish I had written this review earlier to warn people but I thought I could look past it. Unfortunately for me, it looks like my aux input's quality is steadily deteriorating and sometime within the next month I may not even be able to listen to any audio at all. The only reason I won't give this computer a 1 star is because it still has good specs for the price, but I would NEVER recommend anyone else to get this same model. I've been burned by acer laptops twice now so I probably either have to make sure any future laptops I get from them are of the highest quality or look at other companies for laptops.

Good Balance of Features for the Price

Pros: This machine strikes me as a fine little gaming system. I let the Geforce Experience app set optimal in-game graphics for several games, and they all look good and run smoothly. Of course, you don't need the absolute highest res and detail settings for a game to look good on a 15.6-inch screen. Maybe if i pushed the display out to our 50-inch plasma i would notice it's not top-tier graphics, but on the 15-inch matte screen with ACER's "Exacolor" feature everything looks absolutely fine.

Passmark Performance Test Score: 2438 overall. The 3D Graphics score is 3656 which is very solid. Memory score of 1578 drags the overall score down somewhat. ACER provides a single 8GB stick of RAM but, while 8GB is plenty, it should be 2 x 4GB sticks because that would provide the benefits of double-data-rate.

The SSD Read speed according to CrystalDiskMark is 468MB/sec. which is respectable if not exactly earthshaking.

Slim design. A couple of years ago a laptop this slim would have cost double.

Runs very quiet except when you work it really hard.

CPU performance is good; feels like the processor is faster than what they claim. It matches up well against our older laptop's faster 2.6GHz Core i5 with the bonus that the newer cpu of the ACER needs less power and generates less heat. The lack of fan noise is most welcome.

Sometimes Anti-glare screens have washed-out color. Here, the color balance and overall display performance is very good for the price.

Battery life is good, too. We put one of our Blu-ray movies onto the 1TB internal hard drive of the ACER and let it play (in VLC media player) on Repeat. It played the 2 hour and 10 minutes movie three full times at which point the low battery warning came on. Now, remember that's the hard drive spinning/running continuously for over 6 hours - not bad. (Screen brightness and sound volume were both set at 50 percent.) It will easily run for 9 or 10 if the hard drive isn't working continuously.

Dual-band wi-fi is first rate. On our existing Lenovo laptop ($879 two years ago) we added a $30 dual-band USB wi-fi adapter to boost performance. Here's a comparison of internet speed while sitting at the dining table about 25 or 30 feet from the router in the next room. Should mention our Comcast "max. speed up to 75Mbps Download and 5.0Mbps Upload", and Comcast actually gives you a sort of Turbo boost on downloads for about 10 seconds:
Chrome browser at speedtest.net website
ACER: ping 16ms / 88.60Mbps download / 6.07Mbps upload
Lenovo with TP-Link AC1200 dongle: ping 16ms / 85.52Mbps download / 6.09Mbps upload
As you can see, the ACER easily matches up to a good plug-in USB dual-band adapter.

Ports: plenty of them including a USB-type C, two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, HDMI and VGA. The USB-C port not only offers fast speeds, it also can provide enough power to run a big external hard drive such as the Seagate Innov8 (a single 8TB ext.HDD). This means you could use the ACER as the center of your home network with a HUGE amount of available storage for everything, and other computers on your home network (if you have any) could also access that big storage drive. Heck, you could store a big movie collection, music, photos, etc. and maybe backups, too. When you want to go portable just unplug the USB cord and walk away with the laptop, no problem.

I connected an actual Seagate Innov8 just to see if the ACER could power the 8TB external hard drive through the USB-C port. No problem, it handles the extra power delivery without a hitch. Performance of the laptop, including gaming, was unaffected by the Seagate's presence.

Cons: Not really a con but the keyboard lacks a high-end feel, so to speak. I've grown fond of the backlit keyboard on my other laptop as well as a premium quality "feel" when typing. The ACER keyboard has clearly visible white lettering and lightly textured surfaces on the keys which is perfectly OK for typing, but there's no elegant or premium feel to it. Hey, at least the keyboard remains firm and does not flex up and down when you pound the keys.

One consequence of having a matte finish anti-glare screen is that there is a rather narrow sweet spot for viewing. If you look down at the screen from say, a standing position, the picture is too light and faded. If you look up from below the picture is so dark you can barely see anything. Off to one side it's a little better, but don't move too far or the picture will fade out. So, tilt the screen for the best picture and accept that.
Another consequence of the matte finish screen is that outdoors the display becomes more difficult to see as the sun becomes brighter. It's actually unusable on a sunny day.

I would have preferred a larger capacity SSD mainly because it would almost certainly have superior Write speed compared to the supplied 128GB Lite-on model which tops out at around 161MB/sec. Seq. Write.

I know laptops run hotter than desktop PCs which have generous airflow, but the idle temp. of the Core i5 cpu here is about 60 deg. C. and about 71 C. when working hard. Not sure if that's common or not.

Other Thoughts: The overall impression when using this laptop over the last three weeks or so is that it's a nicely judged balance of features, performance and price. It has a slim design and is light enough to carry around, yet it handles games and general tasks quickly and smoothly. Our Lenovo gaming laptop is a bit of a powerhouse design from a few years ago but, except for a couple of features, it's no match for this ACER E5-575G. The ACER's a pretty good gaming machine that doesn't run too hot and has a battery which lasts a solid 6 hours during heavy use and considerably longer under less intense use; this is clearly a winning combination by the ACER design team.
My girlfriend (who appreciates the sturdiness and quality of our heavier, pricier Lenovo machine but doesn't exactly love it) needed only about 20 minutes on this ACER before declaring "I LIKE it!". Couldn't get any more out of her for a while as she was busy setting up a bunch of her games, internet start pages, desktop photos, etc. Eventually, she mentioned liking not only the general ease of use, but the touchpad, too. This has never happened before - ever!
In years gone by i would have said ACER is OK in the budget-price sector and that's about all. Now i have to change my mind and say they can compete very well in the mid-price sector, too. If you like the look and feel then you'll find the performance and generous feature list makes it worthwhile to be on your shortlist.

One more thing. Although the laptop speakers are crisp and clear, they produce almost no bass. Try using the laptop's Bluetooth output with the excellent Sharkk Wave speaker ( Item#: 9SIAAM84T79859 here at Newegg). This combination produces an impressively rich, clear, detailed sound with a solid bass output. Both items have good battery life, so you can keep on rockin' for several hours.

Awesome Laptop

Pros: I bought this laptop to travel with me when I visit my brother in Chicago since we love to play multiplayer games together. This laptop performs beautifully, I really have nothing bad to say about it. It traveled very well, configuring it took no time at all and was easy to follow. The graphics are great, HD and smooth. For the price it's an excellent gaming laptop.

Cons: Not a lot of memory
Keyboard has no backlighting

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to people that have several games they'd like to play while out and about.

Wish for Backlit Keyboard

Pros: Good performance
Solid keyboard and trackpad
Good battery life

Cons: Keyboard not backlit
USB 3.0 ports on left side too close together
Right Ctrl key too small

Other Thoughts: My buying decision came down to this and the Dell Inspiron 15 7559. Chose this model because I was leary of the Inspron's flexing keyboard and awful trackpad.
