Will this eliminate the need for internet? Will I still need a WiFi device?

This product is a wireless router. Although it has a touchscreen, it is only used to set-up your wireless network. You will still need a device to access the internet, such as a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone.

Will this give me better netflix reception fifty feet away, and will it give my cell phone better connectivity in the house?

This unit will extend your WiFi range by repeating it so yes, it will help with your unit that you want to watch netflix on IF your problem is that your are too far from your current Wireless router.

No, this will NOT help with your cell phone, this is a WiFi repeater, not a Cell signal repeater.

You can set it up as a Wireless Access Point (WAP) and let the Time Warner Modem handle the other routing duties. The alternative would be to put the Time Warner Modem into bridge mode and let the Almond handle everything. I don't know if TWC would allow the second option.

Can I use it to provide a stronger signal to my son's XBOX?

If the signal is weak because you have walls or other obstacles between your existing Wifi source (router) and the Xbox, then the answer is yes. That is similar to why I bought this unit: to provide a stronger signal on the upper floor of my sister's house since her router is in the basement.

I am assuming the zigbee functionality causes it to be a coordinator.
Can zigbee AT or other api commands be used from a connected computer to control devices?
