Pros: -Has everything most people will want at a reasonable price. -Uses DDR4 So this is a great board if you want a new processor but aren't ready to jump to DDR5. -Has a M.2 wifi card slot. -Runs windows 11 (no additional TPM needed) -Has hdmi and Displayport on the board I/O (nice if you're struggling to find a graphics card).
Cons: -M.2 wifi slot is inconveniently located in a hard to reach place once installed, wifi slot is vertical on the board. -Two of the fan headers are at the bottom of the board, I would have preferred them on the left side. -Bios code screen would be nice, but lets be real at this price point I wouldn't expect anything frivolous.
Overall Review: I really love this board. It's done everything I've asked of it. Updating the bios was a breeze. Clocking my ram to the XMP profile for my 4266Mhz was easy but the system ended up unstable (not the boards fault), I ended up just setting xmp and then changing the Dram frequency back down to 3200Mhz which is the max that my processor supports without overclocking. The ram probably would have run fine at the XMP profile if I had overclocked my processor to match but I didn't see the need. My only real gripe with this board is the Wifi m.2 slot, I love that I can swap out Wifi cards as I see fit but they put it in a really inconvenient spot right under the I/O Part of the board, this means it is a pain to get at it when installed in a case. Also, the m.2 wifi slot is vertical on the board, so you won't be fastening it down like a normal m.2 which is kind of yuck in my opinion. Most importantly because this slot is vertical and hard to get at when I first plugged my wifi card in and booted up it wasn't recognized because the pins didn't line up even though it looked straight, one disassembly and card wiggle latter and bam it worked. This irked me because crossed conductors and such could have potentially fried the card or the board. In my case it worked out fine but I feel like Asus should re-evaluate where it chooses to place the M.2 wifi slot and what kind of slot it uses, as I've never had a problem with traditional M.2 style slots. And last but not least, if you're confused about windows 11 requirement of a TPM, Don't worry, the boards Bios has that requirement integrated. I mention this because some will notice it has a slot for an external TPM to be installed, which you can do, but you don't need to do if your goal is just windows 11. Over all Really do like this board and recommend it to anyone on the fence. I have it paired with: Windows 11 Pro Intel i7-12700k G.skill Trident Z Royal PC4-34100 4x16gb ddr4 4266 ram (running at 3200) M.2 FV-AXE210NG wifi 6E bluetooth 5.2 M.2 Samsung 980 pro 1TB (if you go with a samsung pro I suggest no less than 1TB) M.2 Samsung 970 1TB (my old drive) Evga GTX 1080 Hybrid Corsair Hx1200i
Pros: - Everything worked great and delivery was very fast. Ordered on a friday, delivered following monday. - BIOS utility was easy to use for setting up my XMP RAM profile. - Looks fantastic. - DDR4 RAM so I didn't have to wait around to be price gouged for DDR5
Cons: - no cons at all!
Overall Review: I only buy ASUS motherboards. I've never had one fault with them. Even in the past when I've roughly handled them, they always worked. Always.
Pros: - Easy to install components - Great BIOS UI - It's a MB... not much else to really identify as a Pro since working as expected is pretty much the usual standard benchmark.
Cons: - Came with 2 SATA cords and an I/O backplate (m.2 screws too, but don't count those).. so make sure you either break out any extras you already have (screws to attach to the case, additional cords for HDDs/SSDs/Peripherals, etc.) or order them in conjunction with ordering this board - Did some updates after Win10 install using the MB software and my AIO water cooler RGB lights disabled. Still trying to troubleshoot the issue.. it's a new AIO that just came out from Coolermaster, so might not necessarily be board related. - Another problem I came across was selecting USB as a bootable device. Could not do this with provided ASUS BIOS settings, even swapping it to Legacy did not recognize the thumb drive I had for win10 install. Had to burn an ISO to disc and install older DVD peripheral to get Win installed. - AIO installed in the only orientation I could put it, blocks DIMM slot closest to CPU, so check your tolerances.
Overall Review: Overall I would recommend this board.. I think it's a great board and I'm happy with it. My cons could be chalked up as nit-picky, but hey... we're geeks and we want out shlit at near perfection :)
Pros: Board performs well, lots of options for storage and RGB headers, even though I don't use RGB. My 12600k can pull 150+ watts while only using the 8 pin header without the auxiliary 4 pin connector attached. ASUS suite of tools and monitoring is much improved over the years (my last board was a Z270 from ASUS). Overclocking and adjusting voltages within Windows is a nice feature to have, and is a breeze with this Mobo.
Cons: -Limited flashiness with the design and lighting could be a Con to some, but it doesn't really bother me. -Included accessories are a little lacking -No right angle SATA ports. -ATX standoff mounts near the 24 pin main connector could be better. The USB Gen 3.2 Type C connector is in the exact location a fastener could go, but the PCB layout engineer decided to put the connector there. Not a huge deal but attaching the 24 pin cable requires force and you see some flex when attaching the connector. -Biggest Con is the quality: 1) I can't use the rear I/O shield due to a nasty bend in the PCB. The top USB and PS2 ports are obstructed if I use the shield. So now my build must go shield-less since I need access to those top two USB ports. 2) Board shipped in with multiple rips and tears in the ESD bag. The heatsinking on the VRMS punctured the ESD bag and even dug into the cardboard in multiple locations.
Overall Review: Decent board and gets the job done. Although I am disappointed since I have had relatively good experiences with ASUS in the past. The rear I/O bend condition is a first for me. I guess IPC specifications and requirements for Class I hardware were ignored for this lot of PCBs. I shouldn't complain though since the board works flawlessly. I am just worried about future reliability. You get what you pay for.
Overall Review: Unusable for me right now as I'm using 4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RAM and when you try to enable XMP Profiles the board fails to post. There have been no bios updates in over a month and to this point doesn't look like there will be one anytime soon. I wish I could return this board and get something else. This is garbage, i'm having to default my ram to 2100mhz in order for my pc to post which is affecting performance.
Pros: Great motherboard and works perfectly Nice heat sink repartition For those who don't need the show off lighting sets but still wants the good specs and good thermal protection.
Cons: Came bend, shipping should be more protected Few more ports on the back could have been better. A built-in backplane for the ports would have been perfect.
Overall Review: Great motherboard but was kinked. Ports weren't aligned with the backplane had to force it in place and bend the backplate a bit to make it aligned. When you pay this much for a brand new motherboard and it comes bend, it's very frustrating.
Pros: -lots of ports -lots of room for big GPUs
Cons: -very unstable -computer will constantly crash when overclocking ram using XMP profiles. After doing some research, this problem is pretty common with this board and there is no clear fix. -updating the BIOS to the most recent version resulted in constant crashes as well. Had to wipe my drive, thankfully it was a fresh install of windows so nothing was lost -armory crate software is buggy and does not detect certain components. Also a common issue
Overall Review: This was my first and last time buying an ASUS board. Avoid this one like the plague
Overall Review: I'm not here to give pros/cons but I do want to leave a warning here for anyone with a large GPU - the USB-C slot is going to get covered up by the GPU leaving it useless. For reference, I paired this mobo with a ASUS TUF 3070 which has 3 fans on it. The last time I built a computer was 10+ years ago so I didn't know what to watch out for, at this point I'm just happy it POSTed and I'll live without the front USB-C. Hopefully this helps guide someone else's decision.
