Adapts to your specific needs

The motherboard tray can be installed alongside the left panel in an inverted layout with an amended airflow. It is also removable for use as a bench table.

Generous space for your setups

Very flexible installation options thanks to three repositionable single HDD slots. You have seven possibilities for installing the HDDs – two of these hidden behind the PSU shroud. The practical slot covers serve to hide any unused HDD slots and keep the inner workings neat and tidy. This enables you to create systems that are just as individual as you are yourself.

Multi-mode RGB LEDs and elegant side window

The case is equipped with an elegant, fully windowed side panel that is made of tinted and tempered glass. The eye-catching exterior RGB LED illumination on the front panel comes in six switchable colors and three modes. LED synchronization with your motherboard or RGB controller is also an option.

Impeccable cooling and silence

The two virtually inaudible SilentWings 3 140mm PWM fans are equipped with a smooth-running 6-pole motor, durable fluid-dynamic bearing and an airflow-optimized fan blade. The frame has funnel-shaped air inlets that generate high air pressure. When set to Performance Mode the fans are able to achieve an impressive 1,600rpm.

Creating separate cooling zones

The six PWM fan connectors are divided over two rails, and each is switchable between Silence and Performance Mode. This makes it possible to create two cooling zones that can be controlled by just the front panel switch. If you want all fans to run at the same speed, you can switch both channels to the same mode.

Optimized for overclocked and water-cooled PCs

The Dark Base 700 creates an effective airflow with noise dampened vents that may be boosted by up to seven additional fans. There are also three areas provided for water coolers up to 360mm. A clever feature is the detachable top bracket on which you can install radiators and fans before mounting them as a complete unit into the case.

Offering unexpected possibilities

The PSU shroud offers you a variety of solutions – not just for hiding the PSU and to keep the system neat and tidy. The cover plates are separately detachable, making it possible to install fans at the bottom of the case or the top of the PSU shroud and leave enough space for a radiator in the front.

State-of-the-art technology for your system

The front I/O port provides you with some convenient features for your high-end PC. A connector of USB 3.1 Type C Gen 2 is supported. The dual rail PWM fan controller is controlled by the slider control on the front panel, with four possible settings to determine the speed of your fans. It can be set to PWM hub or operate in a manual 3-step mode. There is also a switch on the front panel to control the exterior LEDs.

Beautiful case, well built and Very Quiet 6/23/2020 6:31:00 AM

Pros: Quiet, Well built, clean lines. Plenty of room on the motherboard side of the case.

Cons: Could use more room on the back side of the case for cable management

Overall Review: This was my first PC build in over 20 years. I loved this case design and look. The German engineering is evident in the attention to detail. The included Silent Wings 3 fans are very quiet and provide good cooling. I added 3 more fans for a total of 5 system fans.
Installation of all components was not a problem. My only issue was with the room for cable management on the backside. I purchased sleeved cable extensions for my psu which I ended up running down into the psu garage instead of running to the back of the motherboard. I'm not too concerned with cable management so it's not a big deal. I mounted a fan on the bottom of the case so I had to mount one of my 3.5" hard drives in the upper section, Again not a problem since I'm running totally Air cooling so I don't need to install a radiator.

The top of the case gets a little tight with the Dark Rock Pro 4 air cooler , the CPU power cables and the top fan.

the top of the case could use more vents so you can actually use the top fan placement better. I saw many reviews and opinions about the airflow being limited on this case. I'm not overclocking and have enough fans for good positive pressure and my system is running within normal operating temps.

I recommend adding two or more fans. The case is extremely quiet even with a total 7 fans running at top speed (5 in the case and two on the cpu cooler). But that is what you would expect from a company called beQuiet and a fan called "Silent".

Solid, well thought out case 4/16/2020 7:05:03 PM

Pros: - Great quality
- Tons of space for additional expansion
- Not gaudy
- RGB if that's your thing, can turn it off if not
- Very well thought out
- Lots of fan capacity
- Dust filter
- Great cable management
- Integrated fan control with several headers
- Quiet (duh)
- Reputable brand

Cons: - There are more beautiful cases out there
- The method to switching the RGB from manual control to motherboard control is apparently a secret and took me a month to figure out (hold the color change button for 3 seconds)
- Not cheap

Overall Review: This is a very well-made, quality tower. Very easy to work with. It looks understated as a gaming PC but still has RGB if you want to use it, so if you want a handsome but not in-your-face, well built, quality case, this is a great choice.

Best case I have owned 3/31/2020 11:57:03 AM

Pros: - 24This is an exceptional quality case.
- It's reversible and has excellent space management.
- Interior damping keeps it quiet.
-There are many ways to expand, lots of slots, 3 drive bays, places to mount SSDs, hidden bays
- Has dust filter trays
- Glass is beautifully tinted

Cons: - It's heavy
- I wish wheels could be an option
- The hidden cable area can get a little cramped
- The front reset button is too easy to press

Overall Review: Well worth the money if you are building a showcase rig.

Very good but not perfect 12/16/2019 12:58:39 PM

Pros: Large
easy to route cables
wide enough for 140mm fans
vertical gpu-mount capable
invert-able case

not that silent

Overall Review: I previously owned a Corsair 500R and needed an upgrade. It had 3 120mm fans and was decent in the sound department. I can't really tell a difference with this case. The 500R had a part metal, part acrylic side panel (I replaced the fan with it), and the HDD bays, which were not hidden by a psu shroud (because the case is too old for that) used plastic trays. I think Be Quiet needs to try those plastic trays, because I had never heard my HDDs before and I hear them all the darn time now, even though they're sitting on anti-vibration material. I don't think the fans are any quieter either. Although I *can* tell the difference between a 120mm Corsair fan and the 140mm silent wings 3 fan in the rear.

I also want to point out that even though the case has a perfectly awesome mounting bracket for a top-mounted AIO, not only is the venting there not sufficient, but it's been proven [Bitwit] that front-mounted AIO's are better at cooling that top-mounted ones. A Corsair H115i fits snugly in the front without having to remove that plastic shroud piece. You would even have room for a push-pull config there, although the fans partially block the HDD bracket removal pieces. It's perfect for cooling an overclocked Ryzen 5 3600 without needing a push-pull config, so the air being brought in from a pull config works perfectly fine through those side vents.

You have to remember that the price of this case is not only due to quality materials/build and sound dampening materials, but is it built to be invert-able. That is quite a bit of extra engineering to complete and you're paying for the extra tooling involved in making that possible. Not very many cases can be built to do both, and that's pretty amazing imo.

Large but sleek 10/31/2019 12:41:43 PM

Pros: -Looks very nice and clean
-RGB lighting that can be controlled manually or connected to the motherboard header
-Plenty of room inside
-Fan controller supports manual control and PWM, also has an RGB header in case you need that
-Front panel is not attached to USB ports, making taking it off a much more pleasant experience
-Top radiator/fan rack dismounts for easy maintenance and upgrades

Cons: -Included fans are silent wings 3 high speed, which are not quiet unless you set them to run slower
-Airflow is not as good as other cases, but that comes with the territory when going for silence
-Unless you are running a large push/pull radiator setup or a custom loop, there will be a lot of empty space. A large action figure would probably fill it nicely if you are into that
-Expensive, even when discounted

Overall Review: Overall I really like this case. The only real big problem I've had is the connection between the RGB/fan controller and the lights themselves is finnicky and sometimes just won't display certain colors. I know its the connection because when I move the tower just right I can get it to work, but it seems to be a bad connection, and I don't feel like taking everything apart again just to RMA it and wait for a new case.

Not as good as I was hoping 6/11/2019 8:55:27 PM

Pros: Spacious

Cons: Poor documentation

Overall Review: Decent case, but not a pinnacle of so-called German engineering. It is very spacious for a mid-tower and well built from a mechanical standpoint, but taking apart for a build is a pain in the neck (lightly speaking) as the manual is rudimentary - it features an exploded view, but does not address how to take the panels apart. Who would guess that the front panel simply pops out ? Gotta look on You Tube for that. How does one cleanly take out the side cover for the PSU compartment ? I couldn't find the documentation for that and even though I tried to be gentle, the two plastic "teeth" holding it in the middle soon broke off. The manual states that you can fit three 140 or 120 fans in the front, but that only works if you leave the top and bottom fans secured with only two screws each. Yeah, they updated the print in the datasheet on their website to "two optional fans" , but the accompanying image in the same document still shows three fans in the front. Quirks of this sort that made my experience tedious and time-consuming, and killed the excitement of building a new box. Someone in BeQuiet design department needs to get 20 good lashes for this. I had high expectations for this case as I have been enjoying BeQuiet AIO and fans in my other rig (Enthoo Evolv X) for a while, but I liked working with Enthoo much better.

Be Quiet 6/11/2019 4:01:06 AM

Pros: Really a well thought out case. High quality construction. No sharp edges in the case to cut the system builder. Quite happy.. Highly recommended.

Cons: A little over priced.
