SUPER VERSATILE MOTHERBOARD TRAY

Adapts to your specific needs

The motherboard tray can be installed alongside the left panel in an inverted layout with an amended airflow. It is also removable for use as a bench table.

be quiet

MODULAR HDD SLOTS

Generous space for your setups

Very flexible installation options thanks to three repositionable single HDD slots. You have seven possibilities for installing the HDDs – two of these hidden behind the PSU shroud. The practical slot covers serve to hide any unused HDD slots and keep the inner workings neat and tidy. This enables you to create systems that are just as individual as you are yourself.

EYE-CATCHING FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE

Multi-mode RGB LEDs and elegant side window

The case is equipped with an elegant, fully windowed side panel that is made of tinted and tempered glass. The eye-catching exterior RGB LED illumination on the front panel comes in six switchable colors and three modes. LED synchronization with your motherboard or RGB controller is also an option.

SILENT WINGS 3

Impeccable cooling and silence

The two virtually inaudible SilentWings 3 140mm PWM fans are equipped with a smooth-running 6-pole motor, durable fluid-dynamic bearing and an airflow-optimized fan blade. The frame has funnel-shaped air inlets that generate high air pressure. When set to Performance Mode the fans are able to achieve an impressive 1,600rpm.

DUAL RAIL FAN CONTROLLER

Creating separate cooling zones

The six PWM fan connectors are divided over two rails, and each is switchable between Silence and Performance Mode. This makes it possible to create two cooling zones that can be controlled by just the front panel switch. If you want all fans to run at the same speed, you can switch both channels to the same mode.

INGENIOUS COOLING CONCEPT

Optimized for overclocked and water-cooled PCs

The Dark Base 700 creates an effective airflow with noise dampened vents that may be boosted by up to seven additional fans. There are also three areas provided for water coolers up to 360mm. A clever feature is the detachable top bracket on which you can install radiators and fans before mounting them as a complete unit into the case.

VERY FUNCTIONAL PSU SHROUD

Offering unexpected possibilities

The PSU shroud offers you a variety of solutions – not just for hiding the PSU and to keep the system neat and tidy. The cover plates are separately detachable, making it possible to install fans at the bottom of the case or the top of the PSU shroud and leave enough space for a radiator in the front.

SMART I/O PORT

State-of-the-art technology for your system

The front I/O port provides you with some convenient features for your high-end PC. A connector of USB 3.1 Type C Gen 2 is supported. The dual rail PWM fan controller is controlled by the slider control on the front panel, with four possible settings to determine the speed of your fans. It can be set to PWM hub or operate in a manual 3-step mode. There is also a switch on the front panel to control the exterior LEDs.

Gorgeous mid-tower case with modern features

Pros: Beautiful case, elegant\minimalist look.
Solid construction and easy to build in.
The external LEDs are noticeable but not too bright for a bedroom.
The fan hub also acts as an RGB LED connector that allows for motherboard control.
Front panel USB type C.
The thermals are actually great in my system and it is quiet.

Cons: It does not come with internal RGB LED strips, so I installed my own LED strips inside the case.
It comes with TWO fans, so I added two more be quiet! intake fans (1-140mm & 1-120mm).

Other Thoughts: I had no idea just how handy the fan hub\RGB LED connector was until I started building in this case. I have three be quiet! 'intake' fans connected to the fan hub for PWM control and an RGB LED connector that allows the motherboard to control the external lighting. I do not have problems with fingerprints because I use gloves when handling the case.

Best case ever

Pros: - Quiet (as in really quiet)
- Looks great
- Amazing build quality
- cable management is easy. Everything looks clean if you want it to.

Cons: - none. This is as good as it gets.

Other Thoughts: was not an issue for me, but people looking to put a DVD drive will be disappointed.
It is not really made for housing optical drives.

Addressing the fan hub issues you read about

Pros: Gorgeous.
Tons of room, both on the build side and the cable management side.
A lot of tiny features you don't see on some cheaper cases. Such as rubber washers around all the fan screws to reduce vibration.

Cons: It's expensive.
Size could be a con. It's big and heavy for a mid tower. My previous build was in a phanteks p400, and the dark base 700 dwarfs it.
If not handled properly, air flow can be challenging.

Other Thoughts: A lot of the negative reviews around the web on this case concern a defective fan/rgb hub. And they almost always say something along the lines of the front rgb will only do white, and fans plugged into the hub don't work. I admit, I ran into the same problem. When I contacted be quiet!, their answer was simple. "You plugged the rgb header into the motherboard upside down and fried the board." Yep, I sure did. They were kind enough to send me another fan hub at no cost. The moral of the story is that there probably isn't anything other than user error wrong with those fan hubs. Although I'm sure many of those folks will swear up and down that it wasn't them....

So far I like it.

Pros: Overall happy with this tower. It's roomy enough, with plenty of space for the cables, the fans are super quiet, and it's a very nice looking case.

Cons: When the PC goes to sleep, I wish the power button wouldn't flash, but maybe there's an option to turn that off that I haven't seen.

Dark Base 700

Pros: exterior RGB LED options. LED syncing for motherboard control.
comes with 2x 140mm Silent Wings 3 fans.
hub for fan & LED control via case front panel for 6 fans & 1 extra LED strip.
has some sound dampening material insulating parts of the interior. with 4 fans running in performance mode at highest setting it is still much quieter than any other case i've tried. using my own PWM curves it is very quiet.
semi-modular. from left to right positioning. removable motherboard tray. removable radiator tray. optional PSU & HD shroud. the motherboard tray can be used as a grounded bed for assembly.
wonderful motherboard cable routing options. not one cable showing more than a 1" from entry to port.
can fit push/pull radiator setups in front or top.
built-in USB 3.1 type C for front panel.
looks amazing.

Cons: $180.
has focused too much on sound dampening and has forgone airflow. normally not a con, but the case is still audible and runs warmer than most with the same cooling.
terrible rear cable routing. almost no canals for cable spacing\separation.
surface is very easily scratched and collects skin oils very bad.
SSD mounting is designed poorly. 3 trays that are too far apart to use a single SATA power cable.

Other Thoughts: though it is quieter than any other case i've used, it is also a bit warmer. to keep it under 65°C while under load i have to turn my fans up so it ends up producing near to the same amount of noise as other cheaper options with better airflow. while idling it is near silent and stays ~35°C.
needs better venting for front and top. front vents are almost entirtely blocked on the inside by structural support. top needs another 6-8 vents at least and needs to be elevated ~1" more with the radiator tray.
keep alcohol wipes handy to wipe skin oils away.
i've got an EVGA 1080 Ti ICX, EVGA 280 CLC pump, 2x be quiet! 140mm Silent Wings 3, 3x 120mm Cryorig QF Silent, & 1x 140mm QF Silent fans. in this case it is much more quiet than in the Corsair 500R or Anidees AI Crystal.
