PLUGABLE USB-C 3-PORT HUB WITH PASS-THROUGH CHARGING
The Plugable USBC-HUB3P Aluminum USB-C 3-Port Hub with Pass-Through Charging is a great accessory for your USB-C equipped computer system.
The hub adds three extra USB-A 3.0 ports to your computer by using a single integrated USB-C cable, expanding your computer's USB connectivity. It can power itself and any attached USB device while simultaneously charging the host computer system via its built-in USB-C charging port (A USB-C charger is required. Sold separately.).
The hub features single VIA VL813 USB 3.0 hub chipset with the latest v9001 firmware for maximum compatibility* and performance with most USB 3.0 & 3.1 host controllers. With a slim aluminum shell, the hub perfectly complements your computer, and provides easy portability, ideal for traveling.

Add Three USB-A 3.0 Port to Your Computer
Never again will you be short on USB ports! Once hooked up to your computer* through its integrated 6" USB-C cable, the Plugable USBC-HUB3P instantly gives you three additional USB-A 3.0 ports, so you can simultaneously connect multiple USB-enabled peripherals to your computer.

Super Speed
The hub supports USB 3.0 (3.1 Gen 1) transfer rates up to 5Gbps (640MBps) to allow data to move quickly between devices, ideal for high-throughput devices, such as USB external hard drives, flash drives, and USB graphics adapters.
It's also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 hi-speed devices (rates up to 480Mbps), and USB 1.1 full-/low- speed devices (rates 12/1.5 Mbps).
*Transfer rates are device and USB host controller dependent.
Charging
When the HUB3P is placed in-between a USB-C charger and a compatible host system, like the Apple MacBook Retina 2015 and Google Chromebook Pixel [2] 2015 that follow the USB-IF Power Delivery standard, the hub will use the charger to power itself and any attached USB devices, while simultaneously continuing to charge the host system.
Please note that not all USB-C systems are compatible with the USB-IF Power Delivery standard even though they may charge through their USB-C port.
When you uses the hub in combination with the host system’s USB-C charger, the hub will momentarily reset if the charger is connected or disconnected as the hub transitions from being bus powered (from the host USB-C port) or self-powered (from the charger). This is in compliance with the USB-IF Power Delivery R2 V1.0 specification. All USB devices attached to the hub will momentarily stop working until the hub completes the power transition. Any data transfers to USB storage devices will be interrupted during this transition.
Compatibility
Plugable has verified the following host systems/devices which will work with the USBC-HUB3P for simultaneous charging and data using the host’s included USB-C charger:
- Apple 12" MacBook Retina 2015
- Google Chromebook Pixel [2] 2015
- Google Pixel C Tablet
- Google Pixel / Pixel XL Phone
- Nokia Lumia 950
Special cases:
- Dell XPS 13 9350
Dell does not ship the XPS 13 with a USB-C charger. The XPS 13 will charge through the USBC-HUB3P with a 3rd party power adapter like Google's 60W USB-C charger.
- Razer Blade Stealth 2015
Razer's included USB-C charger is incompatible. The Razer Blade Stealth will charge through the USBC-HUB3P with a 3rd party power adapter like Google's 60W USB-C charger.
Incompatible systems:
- Apple MacBook Pro Late 2016 (issues with USB 2.0 devices not being recognized)
- Apple 12" MacBook Retina 2016 (issues with USB 3.0 devices not being recognized)
- Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN7-592G (Cannot charge from USB-C port, only charges from DC barrel)
- Dell XPS 15 9550
- Dell Venue 8 Pro 5855
- Lenovo P50 (Does not support PD charging)
- HP Elite X2 1012 G1 (Charging pass-through works but USB connectivity does not)
- Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S 12" (Charging pass-through works but USB connectivity does not)
- Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 12.5
Alternative Use Scenarios
The HUB3P will work with any USB-C host as a standard 3-port hub even if charging pass-through is not supported. As an example the hub works with the Google Nexus 5X Android phone for connecting multiple USB devices at the same time. You can use the HUB3P in combination with a flash drive for data storage/transfer and the USB-E1000 (sold separately) for Ethernet access. Please note if a charger is connected to the hub, the hub will not communicate with the phone for data transfer. This is because the phone can only charge or transfer data, it cannot support simultaneous charge and sync.
To use the hub with a Nexus 5X or similar phone, when connecting the hub a new option will appear in the notification drop down menu in Android. Touch the "USB for charging" and then select "Power supply" (see below images for reference). The hub will now work for connecting devices such as memory card readers, flash drives, keyboard/mouse, etc. Please note that some flash drives and memory cards depending on how they are formatted may not be visible by Android.
