The PCI-E X16 to PCI-E X1 riser cable is an adapter that allows for users to extend onboard PCI-E slots (both X16 and X1) and connect multiple PCI-E devices on a single motherboard at once. However, the tradeoff for being able to connect multiple devices is slower speeds if used to convert an X16 slot. These adapters are very commonly used for crypto currency mining to allow for the use of multiple graphics cards on the same motherboard.
A breakdown of what's included: (1) PCI-E Riser Adapter Card with 8 solid capactors for improved stability. (1) 23.6 -inch (roughly 60CM) shielded Male USB 3.0 to Male USB 3.0 Cable included is responsible for data transfer. It also is the prime component in the kit to enable the extension of the PCI-E slots. (1) 7.9 -inch (roughly 20CM) Male PCI-E 6-pin to Male Sata Power Cable to allow end users to adapt the PCI-E power connection into a SATA connection. (Please note that this adapter should only be used for devices that have a power draw under 54W, we do not recommend using this to power a graphics card). (1) PCI-E X1 Adapter Chip has gold plating on the connector pins to promote a more stable connection.
THINGS TO NOTE: If you are planning on powering graphics cards with these risers, please DO NOT use the included SATA to PCI-E adapter cable. This cable is only meant to be used on lower power PCI-E devices such as network cards. We would highly recommend using a PCI-E power cable to power the riser and or graphics ard instead. Please make sure that the PCI-E X1 adapter is plugged into the motherboard slot correctly (the side with the hole should be hanging freely on the left hand side).
