Antec Sonata III 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply

Pros: Nice power supply, plenty of room, quiet, it looks awful pretty.

Cons: Stupid feet! They fall off very easily

Overall Review: Overall I love this case. I've been using Atec cases for a while and this one is nice. The adhesive on the feet is corny but I can get past that. Still a well made case

Pros: Antec! Front audio, USB *and* SATA. Very, very, Quiet. I have used the Sonata II cases, and this is my 1st Sonata III case. Some improvements. I love the rubber shock mounts for your HD's. Room for 3 CD-Roms, and 2 floppy sized devices on front. This is just a nice case. You'll not know until you build a system with it.

Cons: If I have to mention anything, bhis this is SO black, that your fingerprints show easily, but that is the great part about it too. It just ooooozes quality. Some may not like the swing door, but I do because it hides the reset and power button from accidental hits.

Overall Review: Huge 12cm fan that really draws the cool air. The fan has a 3-position switch (Lo / Med / Hi). You can change depending on room temp or needs. Ability to lock the inside case access and front access. Won't keep out a thief, but will deter fellow workers or children.

Pros: Basically a very good product on the surface. See cons though.

Cons: The ESD problem on this product has caused me untold amount of hours between mobo and USB based peripheral vendors in order to nail down this problem. This includes many, many painful hours with various tech support personnel, emails, phone calls, ....over the last year and rebuilding systems. No current, as of 3/9/2010, clear communication from Antec that buying one of these products right now, will or won't cause the purchaser to have to deal with this ESD issue on the front assembly!

Overall Review: Contact Antec customer support and ask for the replacement front panel assembly kit. This is Antec's "solution" to the ESD problem. I've not received and installed mine yet. I'm posting this as this was not posted here in Newegg that I could find as of this date, 3/9/2010. I also could not find, although don't claim I didn't miss it, on Antec.com/support

Pros: CONSTRUCTION: Main chassis frame and drive cages are relatively heavy guage, firmly riveted, very solid, and mostly free of sharp edges. POWER SUPPLY: 80-Plus Certified with Active PFC. The PSUs I received are 'Earthwatts' models, ATX12V version 2.2 (more recent spec than previously advertised). (The version may be important for some motherboard features.) Not intended for heavy graphics and gaming setups - but, solid for a mid-range to high-end SOHO or personal mainstream rig. Two in use almost non-stop for over a month and not a single problem. INTERNAL HARD DRIVE CAGE: Faces outward - easier hard drive installation and helps to overcome space limitations in the motherboard area. Vibration dampening silicone grommets in the drive cage are a nice touch. FRONT-PANEL STATIC PROBLEMS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: ANTEC PROFESSIONALLY CORRECTED THIS BY INSTALLING A GROUNDING WIRE FIRMLY MOUNTED WITH SCREWS; ENOUGH CLEARANCE TO REMOVE IF NECESSARY.

Cons: MOTHERBOARD TRAY: Not removable (not a deal-breaker). FRONT PANEL PORTS. No 1394/FireWire. COOLING: Limited options for additional cooling fan(s). Although it has mounting points for one additional 120mm fan on the motherboard-facing side of the internal drive cage, I don't think it will significantly contribute to good overall air flow. Despite this, I suggest you add this second fan to the drive cage. LACK OF ROOMINESS IN THE MOTHERBOARD AREA: If you plan on adding very long graphics cards, or if you like to frequently swap out components, you may need to look for something else. (If you aren't likely to install long cards or will hardly ever be inside the case, this setup is nice.) SIDE PANEL LATCH: On both cases, the side panel latch tends to bind - at first, I thought one was locked. Occassionally need a little force to open it.

Overall Review: FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Bought a second case within a week. LASTING IMPRESSIONS: With substantial discounting, this is a great package. FRONT-PANEL BEZEL WITH PORTS. The Newegg and Antec images make it look silver/chrome - it's actually black and looks sharp. COOLING FAN. If you want to monitor your fan RPMs and have your motherboard BIOS and/or operating system adjust the speed, you'll have to swap out the included case fan with one that has a 4-wire PWM feature (not hard to find). This will increase your costs. OVERALL RATING IS 4 EGGS. WITH GOOD DISCOUNTING, THIS MAY A FIVE EGG PACKAGE! My primary reasons for not giving a better rating are 1) high cost, and 2) limited options for additional cooling fans. IMAGES AND DEMO VIDEO: Check out the third-party 'Video' on Antec's site - worth a watch. Also check out Antec's image gallery - much better representation to show its quality.

Pros: Nice quiet case.

Cons: Same ESD (Electro Static Discharge) issue as many have had. Touching the front USB connector cause the system to reboot without warning.

Overall Review: I would suggest that Antec/Newegg offer an immediate solution or stop selling the defective product.

Pros: Compared to the jet engine I had for my daughters pc, this finally is the answer. I was the one who always bought the cheapest cases out there - There is no comparison. Very quiet and easy to setup and re-install all devices. Bought the wife a new Dell that is extremly quiet. New case is not as qiet but comes close.

Cons: E Sata is nice but wish there was 1394 on front also. Removable power cords would be nice, not a big deal though

Pros: comes with a Antec EarthWatts EA-500D Green 500W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply.i gave only 2 eggs because this isnt a review just for the power supply,that would get 4-5.

Cons: front panel static discharge heat dust the 1 optional fan placement flimsy door its uglier in person price - yes even at this price you are not getting a deal. the power supply retails for $69 and the case is nowhere close to being worth the difference

Overall Review: you cant expect much with budget cases w/included power supplies.theres always a trade off,fortunately in this situation you get a great power supply with a sub par case and not the other way around. you can buy an antec 300 illusion(absolutely amazing case) and this power supply for about $130 or same power supply with a cooler maste CM690 II(another amazing case) for $140.this product is selling for $120 and youd still need to buy an optional 120mm fan which brings the cost up to about $135,if you think you dont need it,you should let someone else handle your build.

Pros: Sturdy, surprisingly roomy case for a mid-tower. Using GA-EX58-UD5 motherboard I have room for just about any CPU cooler out there. (Leaves approx 90cm x 95cm x 85cm clearance [measuring from top, center of installed CPU] W x L x H, respectively) Provides decent airflow with the included fan 500W Power Supply included should be enough to handle all but the extreme overclock or SLI configurations Looks clean, sharp, and professional Silicone grommets included for mounting hard drives to the removable 3.5" bays

Cons: Static electricity seems to accumulate in the case, so be sure to ground it to yourself before inserting ESD-sensitive devices to the front panel. I haven't fried any thumb drives or anything - Just a heads up that it's shocked me a few times when I've touched it. There are plenty of passages for air to bypass the included front panel filter. This can be good if it clogs or bad if you really want to control airflow Cabling is a mess out of the box, so be prepared with some cable ties on-hand. Fan causes noticeable vibration in the removable side-panel when set to Med or High The included 120mm case fan has a speed switch hard-wired into it that doesn't allow for attaching its power directly to the MB for BIOS fan speed control without a little handywork (ie: fabrication/reverse engineering) This is likely not an issue for most people.

Overall Review: After reading some questionable reviews after the fact, I don't regret buying this case for my i7 build. Really, the static electricity thing probably includes a magnitude of external factors and could easily be remedied by attaching a ground strap to the bottom of the chasis. (The rubber feet prevent the case from grounding to the floor) Don't let that steer you away from this very aesthetic case.
