Easy to build, but Fan in back of case going bad after 1 week 11/25/2019 7:44:32 AM

Pros: Easy to work with, drive bays are screw-less, LED fans look nice

Cons: Questionable quality, Fan in back of case near CPU cooler going bad after less than a week of maybe 30-45 minute use a day. Fan sounds like bearing are failing. Worried the other fans will fail soon too.

Overall Review: Wish I could recommend I was very happy with it last week but less than a week in its already getting loud.

Nice case 10/24/2019 9:35:07 AM

Pros: Nicely made, all three fans are very quiet. 3.5" drives and optical drive(s) don't need any hardware, just slide in and click in place.

Cons: Despite the close location to the front fans, the 2.5" ssd trays have limited airflow across them.

Nit pick: Instruction booklet lists an accessory 'box' containing hardware. The hardware is in a small bag tied to the front panel cables, and was very hard to find.

Overall Review: This appears to be a well made case, with lots of room for drives and cables. The three fans are very quiet and all of my drives (2 HDD, 1 SSD, are running almost 20 degrees F cooler than in my old case.

Decent case but came dented 9/7/2019 8:36:56 PM

Pros: The case is perfectly fine for the price point and has some support for radiators etc.

Cons: My particular case came dented but I didn't bother to RMA because I bought the case for utility rather than asthetics.

actually supports more fans than listed. 9/4/2019 4:13:34 PM

Pros: This case actually supports 8 fans total 2 front and 2 side fans that fit either 120 or 140mm fans, 1 120mm fan at the bottom by the psu, 2 top and 1 rear 120mm fans.

doesn't feel overly cheap

came with 3 really nice fans. 2 of which are blue Led

Cons: the blue trim to the drive bay covers is annoying, and you'll want to repaint them if you want any other color LED's in this case.

can be a little challenge getting the top fans, cpu power cable and cpu fan all together (would suggest doing as much as you can before you put in the motherboard.

not many options to try and hide the cpu power, and route certain connectors like hd audio.

sits about the same distance to the ground as most cases which is a shame cause with all of the airflow in this case it should be sitting up a bit higher to avoid being a vacuum cleaner, I wouldn't suggest putting this case directly on the floor.

Overall Review: If you are at all concerned about airflow this is a pretty great case, I have 6 of the 8 possible fan slots occupied and my idle temp is about 23c, there is tons of room to work in this case so building and maintenance doesnt feel like too much of a chore, infact there is so much space it would have been nice to see a PSU shroud to maybe help with some of the cable management options you have. the SSD trays are removable which is a nice touch and so is the 3.5" bay, but it would have been nice to seen options for mounting the ssds on the side walls to utilize some of that empty space. this thing has awesome airflow which is great for me because both my CPU and GPU run a little bit on the warm side. if you put some noctua fans in this I bet you could get idle temps into the high teens. you can top mount a 140mm rad, and a bottom 120mm rad at the same time and still have it feel not too cramped. all and all I say if this case is on sale then scoop it up for sure, or if you have problems with temps in your system currently this would make a nice little upgrade. and pick up a 5.25" fan controller as well, so you dont have to daisy chain 8 molex connectors together :P

Nice case 7/5/2019 6:14:05 PM

Pros: Just the right size. I have the standard Challenger case for another system, the Challenger S is slightly smaller and fits an ATX MB rather snug. It also fits on a shelf under my desk where the other case does not.
There is a single 2.5" drive mount above the 3.5" drive bays which can be unscrewed without a tool.
Lots of space for every kind of fan or cooling you might need.
I had a CPU PS connector problem, much to my surprise i could disassemble the entire top of the case to reach the upper left CPU connector.
I was able to thread some of the cables thru the case with both sides off, it cleaned up the install.
Solid easy to remove and reassemble sides which are wide. Getting inside works easily.

Cons: The blue LED fans. Unlike some, I don't need flashing lights, clear side windows and whistles on my PC. At some point I will replace the front fans with non-LED fans.
I'm not sure I like the reverse SATA connections for the drive bays. Time will tell.
Black on black is really hard to see unless you have a very bright light during the install. Having some colored or white highlighted details would have been nice.

Overall Review: I made the mistake of buying another manufactures case and could not return it. I have made 3 builds using the Challenger cases and I like them. I should have stayed with the Challenger cases. Would recommend for more professional installs.
With the newer MB and M.2 drives I'm not sure anyone needs 6 drive cases anymore. 3 3.5 drive bays plus 2 5.25 drive bays is lots.
Would have liked to have seen a top mounted USB but that is ok.

Great case with great cooling 6/15/2019 4:06:13 PM

Pros: Will be comparing this mostly with a Versa H15, which I got used from a friend a while back before upgrading to the Challenger S.
- Despite the name of the case on both the Newegg and Rosewill site saying "support up to 5 fans", the case actually supports a total of 8 fans. Besides the 2 front, 2 side, 2 top and 1 rear fan mentioned in the spec sheet, the case I got also has a single bottom 120mm fan mount between the power supply mount and the HHD cage.
- The included fans pump a good amount of air, and while I did swap out the included non-LED rear fan before using it, the blue LED front fans are very quiet.
- Using all 8 fans ( both front, bottom, and the bottom side as intake, top side, rear, and both top exhaust ) keep my computer ( i5-6400, 16GB RAM, and a RX 580 ) the Challenger S is 10-15*C cooler than the Versa H15, and because the graphics card runs so much cooler its fans run at a much lower RPM, so even with 3 more fans than the H15 the Challenger S is much quieter under load.
- It has room for a 170mm CPU cooler, which is a lot better than the 150mm-160mm most cases in the price range have.
- This is a Pro for me, but probably a Con for people that prefer form over function, but their is no glass cover or metal vanity cover over the front or top fans that reduces air flow, something that has become pretty popular in newer cases.
- The case has replaceable expansion slot covers, which sounds like a minor thing but for a ~$50-$70 case it is a definite plus.
- The case seems to be pretty sturdy, and the black paint looks powder coated and not just normal paint. It has yet to get a scratch.
- All the fans except the side panel fans and the rear fan have dust filters, with the top and bottom ones being removable. The front dust filter is a thick foam mesh, significantly thicker than the foam mesh on the H15. The H15 would get yellow circles after a week or so that I would have to vacuum out, but even after 3 weeks there is no sign whatsoever of any dust build up in the Challenger's foam mesh.
- The front audio jack comes out very clean, so far I have not noticed any audio static or interference at all, something that both the H15's front audio jack and the speakers I bought have a problem with. ( The speakers themselves are fine, it is the headphone jack on them that have bad interference. )

Cons: - It is very difficult to install SSDs or 2.5" HDDs into the two available 2.5" slots on the case if you have angled SATA power cables and not flat ones. Took me 20 or so minutes to get a 2.5" laptop drive into one of the slots, and I could not install the drive upside down so the angled power cable would go away from the slot instead of into it. Ended up having to plug in the power cable before installing the drive and shove it in the slot to make it work, hopefully this does not mess up my cable. This is the main reason I knocked am egg off the review.
- Not a terribly big deal for a case that does not have a window, but the front IO cables are white, red, and the USB 3.0 cable is huge and blue. They stand out like a sore thumb with all my black sleeved cables and make the case feel cheaper than it is. Even the H15's IO cables have black sleeves.
- It is hard to install the top fans, as there is not much room above the motherboard. The case would greatly benefit from another half inch of height, especially if that gave it enough room to have a cable management cutout above the motherboard.
- You have to remove the top fans in order to remove the top dust filter.

--- Neutral ---
- It is a bit of a tight squeeze to get the bottom fan and the powersupply in. I have a Seasonic M12II Bronze Evo Edition, 620w, which is L160mm x W150mm x H86mm, and there is only a couple mm of clearance between the PSU and the fan. Had to install the PSU first as it would not go in with the fan already installed. I can see it being fairly difficult to install a fan with a non-modular PSU, and not possible to install the fan at all with a powersupply longer than the one I have.
- Not entirely sure if a 170mm tall CPU cooler would fit if you are using the side panel fans, it does not look like it will obstruct it that much, but it is definitely possible if the cooler was wide or you used 140mm fans instead of the 120mm fans I am using. Between the side panel fans possibly preventing the installation of a 170mm cooler, and larger PSUs blocking the bottom fan slot, I think that is why they advertised the case as having support for 5 fans instead of 8.

Overall Review: I would recommend this case, and if I ever need to build a second computer I would probably buy this case again.

Great case for the price 6/2/2019 12:05:09 PM

Pros: Dust filters almost everywhere . Easy to work with semi-toolless design. All the hardware you need for building .

Cons: Spacing issues with MB tray.

Overall Review: The case is great, for the price. Front venting is ample, space for lots of fans (up to 140 mm) . There is an issue with using an ATX board (or almost any board) with the top of the case being very close to the top of the MB tray .. There is a cutout for the CPU/Chipset wiring that is completely covered by the MB. Additionally, no room to mount a radiator in the top. Just putting a fan there almost caused an issue with the board fitting into the case.
Other than that, lots of venting, to help keepyour system cool, as well as decent cable management space, and SSD trays. The HDD and Optical drive cages can be removed for better ventitlation, and it comes with dust filers on the front and top. It'd be nice to see one on the side as well. Good solid case
