Great for gaming+workstation build, though not perfect in every way. 9/13/2020 8:15:24 AM

Pros: It's a big but not quite huge thing, with a cool sci-fi look to it (sometimes mis-described as "military style" by people who have no familiarity at all with actual military gear. I guess it looks "Space Marines" military?). Has useful handles. Room for lots of fans, including plenty of 140mm ones. For the most part, this is very solid. It's way more metal (and glass) than plastic. Heavy, but manageable, and can hold many drives, and a full ATX motherboard.

A pro or a con depending on your wants: It has two (removable) 5.25'' drive bays (and the front screen shows where they were if you remove them). You can use one as I did for an IcyDock RAID cage (I used one that holds six 7.5mm SSDs/HDDs and also an ultra-slim Blu-ray drive, and its own little fan, which I replaced with a Noctua); and use the other for some kind of multi-functional widget, like a manual fan controller, or (my choice) a "media bay" with integrated card readers, eSATA, extra USB, extra audio in/out, etc., etc. Or just take these drive brackets out for a third front fan and/or taller front radiator.

Lots of room to work inside it. I have a 3-fan 2080 Ti GPU in there, and a two-fan AiO, and a RAID card with three cables branching off it. I have two M.2s, my seven-drive IcyDock (three 2.5'' SSDs, three 2.5'' HDDs, 1 ODD); in the back there are two 3.5'' HDDs, four 2.5'' HDDs, and a fan hub; plus a RAM cooler, two top fans, one bottom fan (in addition to PSU's integrated fan), and one rear fan. And there's still room to spare, though the cable management in the back has been a challenge. My motherboard provides LAN and WiFi, so I still have PCIe slots to spare. 850-watt PSU is handling all of this fine (so far).

Cougar support has been wonderful. My case arrived with a retaining pin on the front panel broken off. NewEgg wanted me to return the entire case for replacement, but Cougar just ordered me a replacement panel from their warehouse in China. When the first disappeared in transit, they did it again without charge, all without me having to do a bunch of RMA paperwork, since it was right after purchase.

While this is not the ideal case for water cooling, it certainly is for air cooling. It is large enough for even the biggest air-cooler fin stacks, and even has room for the forthcoming (4Q/2020) IceGiant ProSiphon Elite which is expected to set air-cooling records, judging by the performance of the prototype. Case has feet on the bottom to raise it off the floor for air clearance, but they might not be tall enough for carpet so use a flat base of some kind for it. The feet have rubber anti-skid things, but these can be peeled off if you like. I think I will actually mount casters on mine somehow.

Misc. notes: If you want this on a top of a desk, you'd better have a big strong one!. The Panzer Max-G came with a lot of optional parts (even a headphone hanger); Cougar puts together a solid package.

Cons: Most issues are resolvable with some minor work. As some YouTube reviewers pointed out, this is actually just a partial upgrade of a case dating to the mid-2010s, with a new tempered (and tinted) glass panel instead of a plastic viewport or none. This version has the screen front for air flow (there's another variation with a glass front; it has no 5.25'' bays).

For some crazy reason, they did not take the opportunity to add a USB 3 Type C port on the front panel (your m'board will likely provide one on the back). That by itself is almost enough to dock 1 star, especially since most "media bay" things that can fit in a front drive bay don't give you one either (or do, but lack other features and aren't good uses of that space). At this point, if I want USB C on the front, it's going to be a soldering job; so, I'm using a C hub off the m'board port in the back.

The plastic PSU shroud needs to have a hole cut in it (use any drill-mounted circle cutter, and add a screen/grille over the hole), if you plan to use the bottom fan port. Or don't use the shroud. Another modern design improvement they didn't do was making the motherboard platform raised a bit off the rest of the chassis frame so that the entire right side provides a gap for cable management. There are still big grommeted ports for this, but it's not today's preferred approach. The push-in-to-lock-or-release pins that hold the front screen on (same as found on a lot of speaker grilles) are not very strong. Should have been metal, not plastic. But see above under "Pros", about Cougar support.

The front radiator mounts are not perfect for every model. In my case, there were a couple of rad screw mount points that I couldn't use with this case, but the rad and its fans were still attached quite solidly. Some AiOs with short cables will not be able to reach with the hoses entering the bottom of the rad as is often recommended. However, with the 3.5'' drive cages attached, a rad in the front will be below the CPU and AiO pump, so my rad needed to move to the top anyway, instead of the front. The main problem for many people will be that with a full ATX m'board, there may not be sufficient room to mount a rad, even with the fans on the outside (i.e., under the top screen). It's going to depend on how thick your rad is, how big your m'board is, and how much clearance you have for your 4+4 ATX power cables.

Speaking of m'board size: Despite the size of this case, it cannot handle every variant of EATX (and is not advertised as for that m'board size range). If you want to try, be sure to measure carefully; there's a good chance an oversized board will cover the cable management holes, partially or even completely.

If you are experienced, I think this case *could* hold a carefully designed custom water loop, but you'd be better off with a larger "big shiny cube" kind of case for that.

One minor annoyance is that the four plastic drive trays in the back for 2.5'' drives will only hold 7–9.5mm thick ones, unless you modify these brackets to take 15mm disks (I used a Dremel tool with a mini-saw blade to do this; I just shaved off the flanges that got in the way, and screw-attached my quartet of 5 TB backup drives into the brackets like usual). Another tiny gripe is that the "carbon fiber accents" on the case corners are actually plastic made to look like CF. But it's close enough for general aesthetics. PS: The "air splitter" plastic thing that is meant to direct some air from the front intake fans (if using those fans for intake) into the back of the case where you may have some drives, is a bad idea. You need that air cooling your CPU and GPU. So just leave that part out. If you actually have heat problems with drives in the back of the case (a rare issue), get a small Noctua and mount it back there to blow on the problem device(s).

If Cougar would make a revision of this case to address these issues, I would happily buy the upgraded version (especially: USB C on front, cable management gap to the right of the m'board, and more headroom above m'board for a top radiator).

Overall Review: This is a real beast of a case. I have crammed a whole lot of stuff in there (my next mod is a dual-readout temp monitor for the RAID card and the IcyDock RAID cage; it's already working, and will be mounted in a new hole in the PSU shroud). Yet despite two or three PCs worth of stuff in it (especially if I add another GPU), it still has adequate airflow, though maybe not if I overclock to the bleeding point. It took some work and extra parts (extensions, etc.) to do my build, but it DID work, and I'm quite happy with it.

I like that this case and its siblings are of the same general aesthetic as the Mac Pro tower and the G5 and G4 before it, with that future-industrial look, functional handles, and tall-not-wide form factor. It looks pretty awesome, without veering into the "I have an attack helicopter cockpit on my desk" territory. It would be okay to have it in an office, not just a gamer-cave. I'm still tinkering with it and may supply pics at some point, after I'm entirely happy with the cable management, etc.

Great for display not very user friendly 9/11/2020 9:15:26 PM

Pros: Great looking design
Quality build
Very nice tempered glass panels

Cons: Very annoying to work in
Airflow is horrible
No front filter, large accumulation of dust
Customer Service is terrible

Overall Review: If all you care about in a case is looks , this is an excellent candidate. But in all other regards, i've grown very tired of it. I've had this case for quite some time now and working in it is horrible, the pci e slots are constructed terribly making it hard to work on and access to the basement is tight. i also had a different issue with one of the panels and tried to contact the company about the issue and i never got a response

Better than I thought!!!! So worth it! 9/7/2020 2:51:00 PM

Pros: The case is easy to work with has lots of room for wiring and the placement. It is a full ATX case and fit everything very nicely. It is big so keep that in mind when looking at this one. It is about 2 inches wider than my old cool master case but the same height.

I guess the best part of this case is that all the wires, ssd's and cables are out of site! and Install of the fans and PSU were very easy, Wiring everything was easy as well because the front bezel comes off opening it up for big hands, and the top has to removable panels that make it easy to install the fans.

Cons: When looking at the case the picture shows the LED fans but they do not come with them. You will have to get them. The only one it comes with is a single black fan in the back of the case.

The other thing that really got me was the condition the box arrived in. It looked like it had been in one of the old Samsonite luggage commercials! and when I opened it up most of the foam was broken and the front bezel was off the case. After getting everything put together I noticed both tabs on the bezel were broken "this is how the bezel is held onto the front with push clips" and way i was able to find one of the broken tabs stuck in the clip and glued it back on but now i only have one tab to hold it and although i was able to get it to stay its not right!

Overall Review: The case its self is fine. I am not happy that the bezel is messed up but I did not want to have to take everything back out of the case! Everyone knows how much of a pain that is but I will be contacting CS to find out if I can get just the Bezel replaced. I will post and update if I can.

I would say if you are wanting a case with good air flow, Lots of room, and a really clean look this case hits all the marks. Just be sure to check everything before you start building your computer so you don't have the same thing happen to you!

I rated the case with 5 eggs because the case is worth every bit of the cost. And it was the shipping that damaged it.. I am just glad it did not tweak the case or break the glass .

Lots of room. Heavy. Nice case overall. 8/27/2020 6:49:52 PM

Pros: - Lots of room to build
- Wired-in power for case fans frees up lots of SysFan headers on the motherboard
- Mounts for lots of case fans (possible total of 8...max of 3 front, 3 upper, 1 back and 1 below
- Attachable headset hook is very handy
- Permanent handles on top help to offset weight issues when movement of the computer is required
- Access points are the easiest I've ever seen

Cons: - CANNOT fit a 360mm AIO and an optical drive at the same time contrary to description leads
- HEAVY when the innards are fully assembled
- Odd HDD orientation

Overall Review: I bought this case as an upgrade from a ATX mid tower since I needed a beefier cooling solution for my Ryzen 9 3950X and what my former Corsair SPEC-02 would fit just couldn't quite effectively cool that beast.

A primary consideration for selecting this case is that I'm old school and drive mounts for an optical drive (BD-RW, in my case) was an absolute requirement. The specs on this seem to indicate that up to a 360mm AIO would fit...but in order for that to be true, the optical drive cage must be removed and that completely negated my use case for said AIO...it has to be one or the other. I bought a Noctua NH-D15 afterwards, and it does fit, though barely. (Side note, be sure to plug a NH-D15's power into the CPU Fan pins before installing; I have an MSI B450 Tomahawk and that pin set ended up under the fan, making me pull it, plug it in, then reinstall the fan and apply more thermal paste...time saver).

Access to the innards is delightfully easy. The front screen has a magnetic/tab clicker (I know I'm not saying that right...): Fit it into the slot on the bottom, guide it upwards and soft click it into place. Same easy push-in procedure to remove it. The top has a similar function. The bottom fan filter is magnetic and easily removable. The right side of the case (access below the motherboard) is a handle to simply lift up. The glass front has four large plastic screws for fastening. I enjoy these access points far more than the traditional back-screw-in type to keep the panels in place.

The power supply shield is a huge pain to bring off initially...the instructions showed some orientation of the hands that absolutely does not work and I had to wonder whose hands they were animating for "successful" removal. After about 10 minutes of trying, I finally got it off. It's permanently off.

Two front fans are installed in mine...a third would also require the removal of the optical drive cage.

An included headset hook (mountable in four positions, each side on the front and each side on the rear) gives a nice convenience for hanging your headset on after you're done with it, once attached with the two included screws.

This monster is quite heavy once your build is complete. The handles on the top offset this somewhat, allowing an easier time for movement. Just be sure you place this case on something sturdy, as it will no doubt collapse a lesser supportive surface.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this case. Just be aware of the issues listed, since the description doesn't seem to make them entirely clear.
