How many drive bays does it take up?

It takes up 2 drive bays. I've had it over 6 months, and am happy with its performance. You have to position the sensors carefully or it will kick the fans up higher than needed, but that's the only major issue I found. Mine will beep at me once every 5+ hours for seemingly no reason despite having the battery installed, but its a very quick beep and I don't really notice it with my headphones on. Definitely a good buy.

dose this unit fill two slot bays?

Yes it does. It's a nice controller. The only thing I don't like about it is the back lighting is super bright and you almost have to look directly at it in order to see what's going on with it other wise it's a nice little unit.

Question 3

Saw someone comment: "If you turn off your computer ALL of it resets, saved programs for temp control and the time." Anyway to fix this? Maybe a 4pin Molex adaptor with a 9volt battery or something?

I have this on my computer and it never resets when I turn my computer off and back on. It comes with a battery that has to be installed before installation in the computer. Check that the battery is installed and has power and it will work just fine.

Question 4

Some places I see this takes 2x 3.5" bays and other places I see 2x 5.25" bays which is it? If it's 3.5" I'll need to look for an adaptor cuz I only have 3x 5.25" bays free on my tower.

3 pin connector. if your fan case has 4 pin molex you will need buy an adapter

In auto you can't but running it in manual you can turn off fans individual and control up to 5 fan

I have been using this for awhile now, and my fan controller keeps beeping like the temp alarm is going off...but all the temps are fine...so i turned the temp alarm off and still get the alarm going off every now and then. Is this because I dont have all 5 hooked up or something? I cant seem to get it to stop beeping even with temp alarm off, resetting and returning off...or anything...I cant figure out what it is doing it...

I have the same issue. My temps are way below the thresholds set, the fans all work fine but several times a day it beeps. Every few weeks the screen freezes and need to be reset but overall the controller works. Ive had plenty of controllers just go out for no reason but at least the fans are running, adjust up and down and works well so the beeps and occasional screen freeze dont bother me.

So this question pertains more to fan controllers in general. I'm looking for something to regulate my temps automatically. In other words, system start to get hot, fans kick on, cools back down, turn back off. I think most people are probably looking at this as a fancy trinket (which it is) but I'm looking for something to accurately and effectively regulate my components to extend their lifetime. So is this something that's going to be accurate? Where do you put the sensors? Can you use the mobo's sensors? Is there software that comes with it?

This controller does regulate temps based on heat levels. It comes with 5 wired temperature sensors that you stick to wherever you want within your computer. It won't fully shutdown the fans when a specific component gets hot (although you can manually with this controller) but it will throttle the speeds of 5 different fans that correspond to 5 the 5 different temperature sensors. It is accurate, alarms you when any of the sensors read a temperature above a safety threshold set by you, and you can manually set the speed of each fan to what ever speed you want, within the limits of each fan of course. I like to set my manual mode to supply full power to all the fans when I'm gaming. I don't think you can use the mobo sensors and no software is required to run the controller, nor does any come with it.

What connectors would I need to connect if I just wanted to use this as a temperature monitor and not a fan controller? Also if I have no available 3 or 4 pin fan connectors on my MB and wanted to connect additional fans to this device, how would I go about doing that?

this does not connect to the mb it controls everything its self the fans connecters are 3 pin as for just temperature monitoring all you have to do is provide power for the device one molex power plug  the way i have mine hood up is it controlls all my case intake and output fans then my gpu is done from the card itself and my cpu is a closed loop water cooler which my mother controls i do want to point out that this is a view point if you get to low on the display or to high you see all the digests segments not an issues for me but i wished it was pointed out for me not a deal breaker but i think it need to be out there i hope this helps you let me know if i need to be more clear

Would a 3.5" HD on rails still fit behind this in the upper slot?  It seems that it might since there's nothing up there to interfere.
