Question 1

I don't see the output jacks in any of the photos. Where are the output jacks on the unit and what type are they?

It has one input and two outputs. I have been using this unit for 3 months and it works great. I have a TV with a 50 foot HDMI cable running from the splitter and a Projector with a 20 foot HDMI cable runing form the outher output. The pucture is great and I believe you will like this usnit also. JB

Question 2

I want to use this to connect two tv's to my directv cable box...I had a normal splitter on there and I had to have both tv's on at the same time for it to work.  Will this prevent that from happening?

Yes. I use this for a theater over flow tv. Movie nights at the old Condo get packed sometimes and we have to put the overflow into a seperate room. Splitter is always hooked up but if we don't need the other tv on we don't turn it on and the picture still comes through. 80" sharp led and 60" sharp led. how do you switch from one hdmi input to the other (i.e., can you switch remotely?)

You have 1 signal coming in via HDMI, the same signal is then sent to (2) different HDMI sources at the same time.  Example, the HDMI input comes from my Home Receiver, I can send the same signal to my TV or Projector at the same time.   There's no switching involved, I could watch both the TV and Projector at the same time.  In summary, the output signals are both "hot" all the time.

Does this work the other way? I have two outputs and one input on my TV.

I, too, have two outputs with only one input.  Having only a minimal understanding of such things I relied on my logic (faulty?) and thought, if the system requires an electric current to carry the information, it might not work in the reverse direction:
The abandonment of an inexpensive splitter would be far less costly than damaging an expensive TV.
I found an item with two inputs and one output.

What is the max cable length I can use with this?

I have used this with a 25ft cable and works fine. I tried a 100ft cable with this brand as well as others and no luck. Stick with 25ft or less and you should be ok.

Question 6

Arrrrrrg!  How do I do an extended screen on my two monitors with this thing? [Win 7, Samsung tablet w/ docking station] I am coming out of a tablet (with plenty of processing power) but few outputs.  I have two monitors mirroring each other, which does me no good.

I wish that somebody marketing this thing had warned me about its shortcomings.

You say "EXTENDED" are you meaning like on Windows when you can have 2 monitors displaying your desktop across 2 monitors?  Not sure you can do that from a tablet.

I know Apple utilizes HDCP with their Apple TV. I am currently using this splitter with Apple TV as well as Direct TV with no issues.
