This TX4 4-pin fan ""Y"" cable connects to your motherboard and controls two PWM fans.
One of the pins of tachometric signal is missing in one of the male connectors, ensure your fan speed monitor won't bounce all over the place from getting two sense signals.Guarantee motherboard getting an accurate RPM signal.
Only one of the two fans sends its tach signal (the one with full 4-pin connector) reports its RPM, but the other one will still follow the PWM signal.
Compatible with 4pin PMW fan connector and 3pin fan connector
Sleeved in a black is enhanced cable management, enclosure to provide a sleeker look that seamlessly integrates into the case's interior

It is SUPPOSED TO HAVE A PIN MISSING for Tach Sense 9/5/2019 9:20:58 PM

Pros: Works as designed. Some people think it's supposed to have two tach (speed) sensor pins.

The single fan speed sensor channel would suddenly be listening to two fans which would just be noise. Thus one has to be picked.

Works perfectly, better than expected 12/7/2017 4:09:43 AM

Pros: Plug and play. Literally.

Plugged the female 4-pin into my CPU fan header on my Gigabyte motherboard.

The first male connector has 4 pins; the fan that controls the speed of all fans must be a 4-pin PWM fan that is connected to this header. The next two connectors in-line only have three pins, because they are lacking the speed control. This is necessary to prevent sending a garbage signal back to the motherboard.

On my second connector is another 4-pin PWM fan. The third connector I've attached a 3-pin case fan.

Wonderfully, my motherboard sets the speed rating for all three fans based upon the temperature of my CPU. CPU gets hot, all three fans speed up. CPU cools down, all three fans slow down.

The black net sleeve on the wires makes this little clump of cables invisible. The cable folds at each header junction and a black twist-tie gathers all the excess cable from all three fans into one compact bundle which has zero impact on the airflow in my cases.

SEE: Other Thoughts for more.

Cons: None at all. Looking at the product pictures and specifications, I bought exactly what I was expecting, and even got a little more.

Overall Review: So, yes, "cases." Plural. I've used this technique in 3 builds so far with perfect results each time. I'm currently building another system, and advising my nephew on his new build, in which he will do the same thing I have.

What did I do? SEE: Pros, and some additional info:

I bought a massive cooling block, Raijintek Ereboss, for all my builds (and you will need every millimeter of 160 mm clearance to fit that little monster). But, worth it because it just lopes along on FX8370 overclocks and Ryzen 1700x overclocks throwing heat out of the cases by the barrel full. It works like this: the Ereboss comes with a very thin (15mm) 140 mm 4-pin PWM fan. I mount that as a pull fan, which ends up squeezed to the top of the case with very little clearance. On the push side of the cooling block, I attached a high-capacity 120 mm 4-pin PWM fan, which tends to spin faster to move the same air. So, my motherboard sets the speed of all three fans at the higher speed rating the 120 mm push fan would need, as if it were working alone.

The top of the case has vent space for two fans. On the vent exactly above the cooling block I mounted a 140 mm case fan with an absurd 115 CFM rating to exhaust all the heat directly from the CPU, and it also pulls substantial air from the rest of the case. This is a 3-pin fan, but it connects right onto that last header at the end of this splitter, and runs at whatever speed the motherboard thinks the 120 mm fan should be running. There is so little space between the 140 mm case fan and the 140 mm fan mounted as the pull fan on the cooling block that the case fan acts as a secondary pull fan.

So long as the first male header (4-pin) is connected to a 4-pin PWM fan, the remaining connectors can drive 3-pin non-PWM case fans at whatever speed the 4-pin fan is setting.

In summary: all my cases run their CPUs ice cold and dead silent. Only under burn-in testing do these CPUs heat up enough to run the fans at anything near their capacity. I estimate that they usually run about 50% capacity during heavy load (video encoding, games) while the CPUs tend to stay under 55° C, and often under 45°C. When the systems are idle or near-idle, the CPU is barely above room temperature, sometimes around 25°-28° C.

What's amazing is being able to use three differently specc'd fans on the same motherboard header. I didn't expect that to work nearly as well as it did. It just took a little thought on aligning the fans in the correct order according to their capacity & spin rates. Using the fastest fan to set the speed for all three ensures that all three fans run at the lowest speed necessary to achieve the target temperature ... and, when they need to run fast, they run all-out and push the maximum air possible through the cooling block. Running FX 8370 CPUs at 4.8 GHz on air and I don't think I've ever seen them reach 60° C.

Yeah. Very happy with this splitter. Buy it, treat it with respect. Does all it should and more.

No fan speed control wire DO NOT BUY 5/25/2017 4:47:38 AM

Pros: Jacketed
Fits nice

Cons: Splits to a 4pin and 3pin connection meaning 1 fan will not have a speed control (PWM) while the other does, making the fan without the wire Run erratically as it uses pure power to mimic the other instead of the main source of PWM.

WILL NOT WORK IF YOU ARE SPLITTING TO TWO DIFFERENT FANS!!!
I would return this product if I wouldnt be losing money to return ship it.

Misleading length but otherwise a good product. 2/27/2017 11:47:01 PM

Pros: Correctly wired with only one fan connector having a tachometer connection.
Quality looks decent enough.
Black to fit the color of your soul

Cons: When you say you have a 6" splitter cable, I assume that means that there are six inches of cable between the motherboard fan header connection side and each of the two split fan ends. Not in this case though. This thing is actually 3" long, end to end, assuming your definition of cable length is from one connection point to another, like a sane person. This product is a combined six inches of you stretch it out from male end to male end, with the female fan header connector in the middle.

Let's say you're buying a pair of pants. and your inseam length is 34 inches. You buy a pair of 34" inseam pants....even if there are two legs to consider. What if you went to try on your new pants and you found each leg was only 17 inches? Any splitter or "Y" cable should be sold under the assumption that each "leg" is of a given length.
