XXL Aluminum Alloy Heatsink
z390

Extra-large aluminum-alloy heatsinks effectively take heat away from the MOSFET and chipset so that your whole system may perform more stably.

Premium 60A Power Choke
z390

Compared to traditional chokes, ASRock's premium 60A power chokes effectively make the saturation current up to three times better, thus providing enhanced and improved Vcore voltage to the motherboard.

Premium Memory Alloy Choke
z390

Specifically designed for memory power delivery, these new alloy chokes feature a highly-magnetic and heat-resistant design, thus delivering more stable and reliable power to the motherboard and memory modules.

Dual-Stack MOSFET (DSM)
z390

Dual-Stack MOSFET (DSM) is another innovative MOSFETs design by ASRock. The silicon die area is increased by stacking two dies into one MOSFET. The larger the die area, the lower Rds(on). Compared to traditional discrete MOSFET, DSM with larger die area provides extreme lower Rds(on) 1.2 mO, so the power supply for the CPU Vcore is more efficient.

Pretty Decent Board for a 9th gen Build

Pros: Looks very Nice
Performs Well with CPU coolers
Easy to Work with
Nice Build Quality

Cons: Not many at the moment but the Board light stay on even when the computer is powered off and I have to keep launching the PolyChrome Software to sync it up with my Ramsticks but it's bearable

Overall Review: I was a bit skeptical with buying this board as I had never tried any products by Asrock but decided to make the Jump. Overall the Board Looks very well made with decent VRM's and good aesthetics and RGB is always a plus in my book

Looks like a pretty good board.

Pros: Lots of USB and SATA ports, boots fast, runs good. Windows 10 installed from a USB stick onto a Samsung 970 EVO Plus in about 20 minutes.

Cons: First board/CPU combo was DOA. It could have been the CPU's fault as it looked warped when I removed it. Not cracked but bent. First such problem in 28 years of assembling PC's for myself friends and relatives. This one was for a friend. Newegg was great on replacing the combo.

Overall Review: Would recommend, and buy again.

Wish the LED's could be turned off as the glow against the wall from the side is annoying.

Watch out with 9th Gen CPU's, the BIOS may not be new enough version

Pros: I haven't gotten to really use it yet because I had a faulty A2 RAM slot on the first one. I'm giving it a 4 because this is not ASRock's fault. It is Newegg's fault, not to say Newegg is a bad company. Their customer service isn't bad, it just sucks that they would send me this thing as a replacement: SEE CONS......

Cons: Came with a version P1.80 BIOS, which is not new enough for a Intel i7 9700k. New egg apparently has older ones hanging around that probably were made before my i7 came out. This really sucks since it is supposed to support 9th Gen processors. I ordered it a month ago, and I've been screwing with this build for 3 weeks now. I now have to send it back to the company itself (ASRock) so THEY can replace the BIOS chip. Apparently when it doesn't have a supported BIOS chipset, it will just restart every 20-30 seconds instead of booting. The BIOS is these 2 chips at the lower right of the board (when inserted into case) that have a number like the version I mentioned at the start, for you fellow newbies.

Just looked back into the specifications, and it does not list anything about the BIOS version. The first one I was sent did have a new enough BIOS. I was able to install Windows10 with one 16GB stick of RAM on my SSD before I sent the first one back. Still, it may be a (I can't name a gambling game here because of "foul language" that sounds like a slang word that starts with a C that sometimes stands for what you excrete from your - Well, I can't even use the scientific term for the - Well, I can't even use the common term that starts with a B that is also known as the POOPSHOOTER ) shoot, or maybe some employees at newegg were just being jerks, mad they had to send a replacement, so they pulled from some older models that hadn't sold before the i7 9700k came out (I know how it is to be jerked around by customers, and I've put those customers in their place when I was SURE they were jerking me around, but I am not one of those customers, and if this is the case, shame on those employees - those who live in reality know they exist at nearly every company and their attitude is not always wrong - for doing this and causing me so much stress - SO MUCH STRESS; I spent 1900 with newegg for this build and another 150 for a special keyboard elsewhere, this was my first build, and I did months of research probably totaling 50+ hours if you include all of the customer support I've had to deal with - around 10 hours of that now with ASRock included, and it just now concluded).

I just found out that the serial number on the box is for the Taichi model and not the Extreme 4 model. I just sent a picture to ASRock of the box, label with serial #, instructions and the motherboard itself. They approved me after that. Sending it back sucks though, because if you can't include a screenshot of your invoice that is less than 500kb, you'll have to do it through phone and then email. Spent the last 2 hours just trying to get a return postage after calling them last thursday (monday now) and being told that they would send me an email in a few days for the postage, only to find out that I had to register at the website when I called to see if it was still coming through (today).

Just be ready when you build a computer, not just for building it like I was, but for other complications.

Also, I found that my EVO 212 (by memory; It's basically the best CPU cooler that's not water cooled you can get) kind of gets in the way of the A2 Ram slot, and REALLY gets in the way of the A1. Insert your Ram before you connect the CPU cooler if you have this fan, ESPECIALLY if you have more than 2 RAM sticks. By sight, the A1 just barely fits under the side of the fan. Every tutorial I watched did the fan first, and it took me 45 minutes to clean the thermal paste off with rubbing alcohol and coffee filters, which you don't have to actually do, because thermal paste is not an adhesive. The fan doesn't move because it's (I am being censored from typing the verb that a screwdriver does) in. Just unscrew, remove, and put in the RAM if you did this instead of the stupid (I am being censored from saying a slang word that starts with C which only means "STUFF" or "THINGS" in this context) I went through, unless maybe you really over-applied that paste.

Overall Review: -I wouldn't say don't buy it. I chose it because it was less money than some of it's competitors, yet had more usb slots.
-I probably wouldn't buy it again, only because it will probably be obsolete by the time I need another.
-Things I would change about the product: A listed BIOS version on the box and on this website - RAM slots too close to CPU at least if you have an EVO 212 fan (I think I got the name right); see full CONS to get a taste of potential problems that may be unlikely, but have good beginner tips.

Setup of this board is unconventional

Pros: - Nice lights and good ports locations

Cons: - The RAM configuration is unconventional. Depending on how old your motherboard is, usually your RAM are slotted in channel 1&3 or 1&2 for your first pair. As I was having issues posting initially with 1&3, I tried to post to 1 solo. I then read that 2&4 are required (first) so I placed one stick of ram in slot 2 to continue testing out my board in isolation. I finally attempted slot 4 with a single ram and viola, the machine finally posted.
- This setup is quite sad as the board completely reverses the order of the setup. At the very minimum they could have included a motherboard speaker to help troubleshoot.
- Support from Asrock sent me garbage instructions with random instructions that did not reply to my question. I didn't even bother responding to them as they did clearly did not read my email.
- Can't recommend ASRock... get Asus or Gigabyte

Overall Review: - Would not recommend this board even though it is cheaper or discounted

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Wilson,

Thank you for purchase and review.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard following to check if it address the issue.
• Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
• Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Check the mainboard’s CPU contact pins are normal (should be pointing same way and pattern).
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan if socket pins are normal.
• Test with single memory module on each slot one at the time to verify all slots are working individually.
• Populate the memory one by one if the memory and slots are working individually.

If you have any technical support inquiry, please contact us at http://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp
We will assist you shortly.
