The Foxconn X38A motherboard offers enhanced connectivity and superior entertainment capability with a suite of high-performance features and components. Part of Foxconn's Digital Life series, this ATX motherboard is equipped with Intel's X38 and ICH9R chips to support Intel LGA 775 socket multi-core processors such as the Quad-Core, Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Duo CPUs with a front side bus of up to 1333 MHz.
Install up to 8GB of DDR2 or 4GB of DDR3 memory with dual channel support. Solid capacitor design and Ferrite Choker power delivery combine to maximize performance and reliability. Power through any video challenge with a pair of PCI-Express x16 graphic cards which can be linked together via CrossfireX. A third PCIe x16 slot along with slots for a pair each of PCIe x1 and PCI cards provide massive potential for further expansion.
Eight channels of theater-quality HD sound can be output as two separate signals through optical or coaxial cables. Six 3Gb/s SATA 2 connectors allow for high speed data transfers with plenty of options for RAID configurations. A pair of eSATA connectors allow for the same speeds while connecting to a variety of external drives and a FireWire and four USB 2.0 ports provide even more options. Transfer data from other networked computers at broadband speeds with the Gigabit Ethernet LAN.
Intel X38 Express ChipsetThe high-end Intel X38 Express chipset features Intel Turbo Memory for improved system responsiveness and supports the latest Intel Extreme Tuning Utility so that over-clockers can exploit every potential of the Intel processors.
DDR2 and DDR3 Combo DesignThe Foxconn X38A features four DDR2 and two DDR3 DIMM slots to provide the ultimate flexibility for system memory upgrades.
ATi CrossFireX Multi-GPU Technology SupportATi CrossFireX is the ultimate multi-GPU performance gaming platform, enabling two or more discrete graphics processors to work together for boosted system performance and a breakthrough gaming experience.
Dual Gigabit LANThe integrated dual Gigabit LAN design allows a PC to serve as a network gateway for managing traffic between two separate networks. Dual Gigabit LAN means rapid data transfers from WAN to LAN without any added arbitration or latency.
Dual eSATA PortsDual eSATA ports on the back I/O panel provide easy setup and hot-plug functionality so you can back up photos, videos and other multimedia content on external devices with ease.
IEEE 1394a SupportIEEE 1394 is a widely used standard of interface between personal computers and digital AV equipment. With IEEE 1394a you can easily connect digital devices such as a digital camcorder to the IEEE 1394a port provided on this motherboard for up to 400Mbps data transfer speeds.

Pros: It looks way better when you get it then in the pictures, really! Very large heatsinks, and comes with a North Bridge fan. To learn how to install the fan read "Other Thoughts" below. Installation was simple. I slotted in Geil 2GB 4-4-4-12 memory, and it defaulted to I think 7-7-7-18, now some people think that's bad, but think of it this way, if you got higher latency RAM, you have a better chance of getting your POST. It's very simple to go in to the BIOS and set the latency's to the correct value. I put in a Core 2 Quad 6600 also, everything booted perfectly first try. This is the best motherboad I have owned in my whole life. Also this thing, of course, has PCI-E 2.0, as it is an X38 chipset.
Cons: The colors aren't exactly beautiful on the motherboard, but hey, who cares I don't stare at the inside of my case all day long I prefer to stare at the monitor! RAM didn't default to correct timings, but who cares?
Overall Review: Please don't give this product a low rating when you haven't even tested it and claim that the capacitors will blow up on you, it's just not fair. Here's how to install the North Bridge fan, as I think some people are a little baffled as to how to do it: set the motherboard on your bench or a flat clean surface that you think can support it, now face it like you would when you're putting in an expansion card, the I/O ports to the right of you and at the top. Now look at the North Bridge heatsink, the one that has "Foxconn" on it, get out your fan and put it on the right side of the heatsink, not the top or bottom of it, but the RIGHT SIDE. Also make sure you have it aligned correctly, there should be a clip at the very top of the fan. Now gently slide the fan onto the heatsink. You should hear a lot of clicking noises and after that push gently or inspect it to make sure all the clips have been pushed in. Now connect the fan to the 3-pin fan connector on the motherboard. That's it
