Most of the Nvidia cards should be compatible with the bridge. It's basically the same bridge you find with motherboards but EVGA branded and Evga lights. However if you want to have the Evga light to come on you will need the revised Maxwell GPUs. So basically the 980, 980 Ti, 970 SSC (3###) and 970 Ftw. All other cards will still work but the led won't light up. It was a oversight by Evga.

Which size would I need if I have the Gigabyte ultra gaming z170 board?

If you have the board already, measure the distance between the first and second pci slots. If it is 60mm get the two way long.  If it is 80mm get the three way.  If it is neither of those measurements do not get it, you will have to use whatever came with the board.

If you do not have the board, wait until you get it and then measure.
