Undecided on quality 7/7/2013 12:21:15 PM

Pros: Love the key feedback and the curved layout, easy on the hands.. I have had multiple Keytronics over the years, with my first back in the AT/8088 days. Bought this KB on 11/22/12

Cons: As of yesterday, 7/6/13, both my CTRLs and my caps lock are dead. Havent spilled anything into it, and havent raged on it.. Disappointing. Made in China says it all.

KeyTronic Designer 10/30/2011 9:13:19 PM

Pros: Good quality keyboard for the price. Have used KeyTronic keyboards for a number of years and they hold up well. The tactile feel is better than other membrane boards. Mechanical switch keyboards may be more responsive but I still prefer the feel of the KeyTronic Lifetime series boards w/ 30 million keystroke rating.

Cons: First one shipped had a slight problem with the backspace key.

The rightone 9/18/2011 2:51:12 PM

Pros: Great feel and noise, and gets better with age, great for typing and RTS gaming*.
Weighted keys are very nice to type on.
Solid feel. Truly is one of the best keyboards around.
I really enjoy the typing feel and sound it makes.
As close to the Topre Realforce as I'm willing to pay for.
I've gone through maybe 30 different keyboards in the last 15 years. Owned mostly Microsoft, Logitech, Apple, Keytronics, had a hand me down IBM model M. Currently switching between the Apple keyboard, a $10 Microsoft, and awaiting for my P2 to arrive in a couple of days. I play Starcraft 2 and am a 5 finger typists at 85-100wpm.
I previously purchase two Keytronics Designer P2 keyboards. First I think it was around 2002 or 3 when this keyboard was Maximum PC Best of the Best keyboard for a few consecutive years.
I get about 85 words after getting used to most keyboards, but only with the Keytronics and the likes have I been able to achieve towards the 100wpm mark.

Cons: A couple of issues I had with this keyboard
1. The F keys are way to high to use for gaming, but I actually do not use the F keys, shame on my, but I've been doing it for 10 years so I'm fine with it.
2. The keyboard does not take kind to any water spillage. It is a guarantee that it will break if you spill water on it, and I mean even if its a little bit on just a few keys. No mater what you do to try to get it back, it will never be the same. This also voids the lifetime warranty.

The only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it is so fragile to water. Most keyboards nowadays can withstand a run through the dish washer w/o heat, so this to me is a star behind perfection.

My first P2, I accidentally spilled a cup of a water on it after 2 years. My second broke after my friend spilled a little sip on a few keys. Most keys didn't work since.

Overall Review: Now this is my third Designer P2. I've thought through this purchase for quite some time. I didn't want to have to keep buying these boards. I've always looked for value in spending a little more to get a lot more out of it. So I started looking into the high end keyboard market. I found that there are basically a mess of German switches out there and only one true king, the Topre Realforce half dome half spring switches. At $300+ a board it is not affordable by many. I will get one later on, but for now from what I have seen in the Cherry switches, I believe Keytronics Designer P2 > Cherry switches.

Comments: My last keyboard was a Logitech G-15. I never got around to using the macros and advanced features.

Best Keyboard I've ever owned... 4/4/2011 3:18:04 PM

Pros: This is hands down the absolute BEST performing keyboard for the price/performance ratio. Mechanical keyboards will always be superior to a plunger style, but honestly this keyboard is perfectly suited for long hours of programming and/or transcription more than any other I've tried in this price-range.

Keytronic makes some amazingly sturdy and great performing boards at a fraction of the price of mechanicals. Highly recommended.

Cons: None...

Comfortable Rubber Dome 3/31/2011 10:21:32 AM

Pros: Comfortable and quiet. Easily the best rubber domed keyboard I've ever typed on. It has a decent buffer since I can mash on quite a few keys and not miss a keystroke.

Cons: The PS/2 cable is almost too short. If you have a really big desk you might need an extension cable. Also, the backspace key is a little harder to hit than the other keys, not a real problem but if you're looking for a nice keyboard you expect it to be consistent.

Overall Review: If you like the Model M (or the newer Unicomp keyboards) but need something easier on the ears, buy one of these. I've replaced my 20 year old Model M with one of these for my gaming rig and I'm quite happy.

Great for Work 3/27/2011 6:36:14 PM

Pros: - Good quality build. This keyboard is build pretty well and there are no flex points. The lettering of the keys is good, and seems like it will last a long time.
- the standard layout is good. The keys tops have a nice shape to them which makes typing very comfortable.
- PS/2 cable is very thick, and again this goes to the build quality
- key action is very good, nice tactile feedback, feelers on the F and J keys are OK.
- Indication lights are where you want them and light up just about the right amount
- all of the "pro" keys are in the right spot (Windows shorcut key, Scroll Lock, etc...) which Logitech seems to think no one needs anymore.
- gained 7-12 wpm with this one; it really feels like a precision tool once you get used to the different weights to the keys.

Cons: - key action is very good, except for the "0" on the numpad which is weighed at the max, and this seems too much for this key.
- The case of the keyboard could have used a little bit of a better finish, but I do like the red and black label that comes with this keyboard
- should inlcude a USB adapter
- not very loud, but definitely noisier than a regular membrane board. OK for cube farms as long as you don't hamme the keys too hard.

Overall Review: Great keyboard. I worked 8-10 hours per day as an IT pro, and I really wanted to treat myself to a decent keyboard. I have tried many, and my 2 favorites are the classic Microsoft Natural Elite keyboard and the Keytronic Designer. I really enjoy both. I would recommend the Keytronic to anyone looking for a good quality professional keyboard with a standard layout. I would recommend the Elite for anyone who would like to try the Ergo style keyboards. Forget about the MS Ergo 4000, the keys are flat and slippery, and way too mushy for my taste. That board is also way too big and forces your pointing device hand too far from the board. Key feel for the Elite and the Designer are superior to anything else I have tested so far unless you are talking mechanical keyboards.
