Does this come with cables? If so, which?

Yes power cable and VGA. We threw both away. The power cord was too short for us. We used a HDMI cable for video, one we already had. Good little monitor. We just got one as a second monitor in a vertical dual setup inside a table top sound booth. My spouse is teaching on line and this little monitor has worked well for her to Zoom. It is paired with a 24" Ben Q as her lower monitor. Shed shares the lower and prepares and runs her assets on the upper, this one.

Is the sound extracted from HDMI or do you need to run a separate audio cable? The question only applies when using HDMI cable - obviously VGA does not have an audio channel, but HDMI does.

I connected it with an HDMI cord and sound came thru ok but it was definitely weak. Not great for having a music video playing on a second screen. I ended up using sound from my main screen and playing the video on this one.

can i make it vertical with its stand?

Hello, Thank you for contacting us in regards to your question. Sadly no as the stand does not contain a swivel. And this, it can not be switched from horizontal to vertical. Thank you, Newegg Support
