Pros: -The colors are absolutely beautiful, having used other IPS displays in the past this is no exception, and the response time is great. -Software to divide you massive 2560x1080 display into other displays if wanted. -Well packaged, good Styrofoam inserts around the screen, and a peel-able plastic on the plastics on the screen preventing scratch damage. -Movies take up the entire screen, compared to 16:9 or 16:10 a movie will take up the entire screen of a 21:9 monitor. -Gaming on a 21:9 monitor can give you a big advantage as you can see more, and when you adjust the FOV it doesn't look as messed up as it does on smaller screens. -If you have an AMD GPU this supports FreeSync (Adaptive sync, part of Displayport 1.2a's standard) Would be nice if Nvidia also supported this standard. -Compatible with VESA mounts so you can either wall mount it or put it on a monitor arm with ease. -When you receive the monitor included with it is a paper with your monitors serial number and the calibration results, while I don't have access to professional measurement tools, these look really great. -3.5mm Audio jacks if you use DVI and want the audio.
Cons: Its huge, make sure you have the desk space! -3 of the 4 video connectors (DVI, Displayport, and HDMI) face directly back from the monitor, if you plan on mounting this flush with a wall you may need 90 degree connectors. The last HDMI connector is parallel with the screen. -By default in my opinion the brightness is extremely high, and had to be turned down quite a bit so it wasn't painful on my eye's especially at night, if you in general work in an extremely well lit room than the default setting should be ok. -When manually using the OSD turning off the display (plugged in via DP) the computer acted like the display had been removed (played the noise of removing a device), this may cause in issue with icon location and windows that are currently up on the screen. Not sure if this is a DP issue or a screen issue as I only have one screen with DP.
Overall Review: Power supply is an external power brick, which while isn't large in size it is slightly larger than I have seen some similar in capacity power bricks but it is easy to tuck away. In terms of dimensions the panel (and surrounding plastic) is 11.75" tall and 27.5" wide without the stand, with the stand it is 16" tall. For the IPS panel itself, there is a 0.33" border around the top and left sides as you can see in the images, the actual visible screen size is about 11.25" vertical, and 26.5" horizontal (29" diagonal). It is lacking a bit in height compared to my 24" 1920x1200 panels, so moving the mouse from one screen to another isn't 100% smooth. -The Onscreen display is controlled by a joystick in the center (please do not rest the monitor on this), while I in general having several different buttons available, the joystick works just fine and allows you the navigate the OSD with ease, to change inputs or configure monitor settings). At full price ($599) this is quite expensive, as of this review it is $449.99, and I have seen it on sale for as low as $349.99. At nearly $600 I find this a hard recommendation, $449 is reasonable and $349 is amazing.
Pros: -It just looks amazing -IPS display -Colors are the best I have ever seen on a monitor -Nice brightness -Settings are nearly perfect out of the box -FreeSync is very nice Let me just start this off by saying this is by far the best monitor I have ever used. The Ultra-Wide resolution just looks great. It is very immersive when gaming and really makes a big difference. The large size also helps with productivity, I can have so many things on the screen at once and see everything that is going on. The colors on this monitor are so good that I had to spend hours trying to correct the colors on my OTHER monitors instead of messing with this one out of the box… and they still couldn’t match the quality of this display. Part of the reason for this is this monitor has a good amount of brightness, it helps show off the colors much better. Freesync is nice and does make a noticeable difference – games look so much smoother with it on. It seems to remove any small input lag as well as remove any screen tearing that occur without it. The software for splitting the monitor into multiple screens actually works very easily and pretty well. It was actually helpful to have it split into 4 sections when researching for a project. The stand is nice, easy to tilt, and has 2 heights that can be used. The monitor also easily wall-mounts, even with a small wall-mount it doesn’t have any issues.
Cons: -The stand does not swivel side to side. I had a lot of trouble thinking of a con at all. But, on its stand it cannot swivel from side to side, so that is something to keep in mind. I personally wall-mount my monitors so this is not an issue for me at all.
Overall Review: -Speakers While the built in speakers don’t compare with an actual speaker system, they do seem much higher quality than the average speakers you can find in monitors. It is a nice added bonus for people who use the monitor speakers. I have always used middle-of-the-line monitors, but after getting this one I don’t think I will be able to do that anymore. This monitor’s display looks considerably better than any of the other monitors I have ever owned. The display is just looks great, colors cannot be beat, and it being IPS is just amazing for letting other people watch or having a video on while doing things away from my PC. I highly recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a high-end monitor. Its color accuracy is just spectacular – combined with all the space it provides, makes this monitor a great choice for someone who does design work. The 21:9 is my new preferred aspect ratio for gaming after using this monitor. FreeSync is a nice feature. Even my cat seems reasonably impressed with the monitor as I write this review.
Pros: Very nice quality monitor for the price! First off it's an IPS panel, and the difference between IPS and TN is really beyond night and day. Extremely wide viewing angles are standard fare for IPS, and this monitor is no disappointment; both vertical and horizontal viewing angles are great on this monitor. Color fidelity across the entire panel is pretty uniform; if you take a window and move it across the screen the colors stay very true across the entire width. Low power usage, yes! The power brick that is the power supply only puts out 1.4A at 19V which works out to 50W. Not bad for a 29" monitor! (Far better than my old Dell which consumed almost 300W!) VESA standard 100x100 mounting points! Standard vesa mounts mean that ditching the built in stand for something more substantial is no problem whatsoever. Love it or hate it control scheme. The OSD on this monitor is controlled by a joystick with center detent. Personally I really dislike this control scheme; having to remember that towards the wall is up, towards you is down, and center is "OK" is really unintuitive. Decent amount of ports; 2 HDMI, one DVI, one DisplayPort. Be aware that Freesync is available ONLY via the DisplayPort port, and ONLY if it's a native DisplayPort connection straight to the video card. In other words, you can't use an HDMI to DisplayPort dongle to get Freesync. It's DisplayPort or no Freesync. Also be careful with your card; some AMD cards support Freesync but only for video playback, not for games. For example, the R9 280 does not support freesync for games, which renders it pretty much useless. Luckily I have an R9 285, which supports freesync for everything. Point is make sure your card is fully Freesync capable, don't assume that it is even if it's a recent card!
Cons: Not all games are compatible with the wide aspect ratio. For example Rayman Legends is unplayable on this monitor; the menus extend far offscreen. Worse, when you're playing the game applies the borders for a 16x10 display, so there's a black border 3/4ths of the way to the right of the screen, then the game continues past it all the way to the edge of the screen. Ports face straight out the back rather than down. This presents a problem if you're using a close wall mount and have stiff cables. Color reproduction is pretty good but not perfect out of the box. I have a colorvision colorimiter, so I was able to measure the difference between the R, G, and B channels at 0.28 dab right out of the box. That's acceptable but not perfect (over 0.5dab is unacceptable for photography work) ; with careful calibration and tweaking of the R, G, and B gain sliders I was able to get it down to 0.12 dab. Much better, but also shows that the factory calibration is no substitute for end user calibration with a colorimeter. However, there's a slight red tint in the mid-to high white band that remains even after calibration. It's easy enough to ignore if this is your only monitor, but if you have it side by side with another monitor and move windows between them it becomes obvious. The built in stand has almost no options; tilt is the only one. It does have two height settings which helps a little bit, but it's not dynamically adjustable; you have to disassemble the stand to select the other height. So chances are you're going to need to want to buy a more adjustable monitor stand if you're using this monitor as your primary monitor.
Overall Review: Freesync! This monitor supports Freesync, and while it sounds like a free lunch, the results really depend on which exact game you're running. For Just Cause 2, freesync allowed me to acieve a 20-30% average fps improvement across the board in all three benchmarks. It also seemed to slow down the micro-stutters the game sometimes has. With Hitman absolution, freesync provided no benefit whatsoever. Vsync vs. freesync turned in nearly identical numbers, which I was a bit surprised at. With Dirt Rally, freesync really shined. On regular settings freesync allowed nearly a 100% speed improvement of average fps! With ultra settings freesync still turned in a not shabby 10% average fps boost. But the dirt rally numbers also kind of illuminated freesync's dirty secret, which is that freesync doesn't help your lowest frame rate; it just extends your maximum frame rate to bring up the average. To wit, under reasonable settings my minimum frame rate was 52.26 with vsync on, and 52.41 with freesync on. But the maximum frame rate with vsync on was 61, and with freesync on was 76.3 . I guess that matters if you're in a fps, but the point is that the low end is still going to be right where it was before freesync in almost all games, and that's where you usually need the most help. I would absolutely buy this monitor if I were looking for a gaming monitor. While freesync might not be a panacea, it has enough of an effect that I would definitely put it on my list of features to have in a monitor if I were upgrading. I wouldn't junk a perfectly good monitor if it didn't have freesync; it's not that much of a game changer that it renders what you have obsolete. But it's worth going for if you're otherwise in the market.
Pros: Screen: The bread and butter of this display is the 29" 21:9 IPS panel. Coming from a 24" 16:9 TN panel I was a bit skeptical, since I play PC games quite a bit. To put it in perspective, this 29" screen is about 3/4" shorter and 4.5" wider than the visible area on my 24". I must say, I don't think I can ever go back to a standard wide screen display for gaming ever again. The extra width adds a better sense of immersion in the games I've played, especially First Person Shooters. I argued with a co-worker on this topic and he kept saying "wait until you sit in front of one", and he was 100% right. I can't stress how much more you can see in game. As far as image response, I could not visibly see any input lag or response difference over my TN panel. The color of this display is SPECTACULAR. I usually spend quite a bit of time messing with a new display to get all of the settings exactly where I want them. Out of the box the brightness was set to 100%, I changed it to 60% and haven't changed anything since. It's perfect. Aside from gaming I found the ultra-wide format very useful in my normal desktop work. 2 documents side by side are well sized since it’s essentially about the size of 2 17" displays sewn together. Construction: The build of this display feels very solid. The base has 2 screws for assembly and does not feel wobbly what so ever. There are also VESA mount holes on the rear to attach to a different stand. I/O: This display is equipped with a nice array of inputs. There are 2 HDMI, 1 Display port, and 1 DVI-D inputs for video, as well as an audio input for the speakers and pass-through audio for headphones. A nice feature about this display is the PBP mode (Picture-by-Picture). This allows you to split the screen into 2 1280x1080 displays using any 2 display inputs. I am sure there is a multitude of applications for that function. I can find use in it when building/fixing/repairing another PC and would not have to setup a 2nd display. OSD: The menus in the display are simple and easy to navigate. There is a single small joystick in the center of the bezel, which gives it a nice clean look.
Cons: *******IMPORTANT:READY THIS********** The LG Software shipped on the CD with this monitor compromises Windows Security. The "Dual Controller" and "Screen Split" software both DISABLE the Windows User Account Control setting in your System and Security Settings. This can make your system vulnerable for malicious software to install without your knowledge. DO NOT install this software from the CD. Download the updated versions from the LG Support website that have corrected the issue. I tested the CD versions and then the updated website versions and verified these do not disable or will reenable the UAC setting in windows if the previous version was installed. ************************************* Other than the above stated, I can't really find a fault in anything with this monitor. The stand is pretty short, but that is all preference and I've ordered a desktop VESA mount for this display to add the height I desire. It really is an outstanding display.
Overall Review: This display supports AMD's adaptive sync technology, FREESYNC. I did not have a compatible AMD card available to me in order to test this technology, but it is indeed a nice feature included in the display if you have an AMD card. It took some research, but I found the supported Freesync range is 48-75Hz. Also, I found a nice little Easter egg with this display. If you ENABLE Freesync on the display through the OSD, the 75Hz refresh rate becomes available to you under the display settings in Windows or graphics driver. I set it to 75Hz and enabled the Adaptive Vsync setting in my Nvidia Control Panel and let it rip. It had a noticeable effect on games that can run up to 75Hz. Just a little nugget for those looking at this display.
Pros: - On top of the pro’s list is the split screen function, this is truly a great feature on this wide screen monitor. There are altogether nine configurations ranging from full screen all the way to four windows. It removed the need for me to have two separate monitors side by side, so you can browse in the one window while watching a move in the other or check your email. This is the 1st monitor I own with this feature and a big selling point for me. - Vivid crisp screen, bright out of the box, I had no need to fine tune the individual screen brightness settings. - I love the joystick you use for the on screen display (OSD) to adjust your monitor settings, very easy to use. - The OSD menu is very comprehensive and covers a multitude of settings, very user friendly and easy to navigate through. By far the best OSD setup I have come across. - The Game Mode pre settings, it gives you two FPS (first person shooter) modes, one RTS and a customized game mode in addition to the standard preset screen. This great feature in my opinion together with the split screen feature separate this widescreen display from the competition. It does make a big difference using the FPS while playing Far Cry 4 or Wolfenstein – The old blood. In addition to the game mode you have four picture modes – two Reader , one Photo, a Cinema and then a custom mode. This gives you really great options on how you want your viewing experience. - The stand is very sturdy, no wobbling of any kind. - Software is easy to install and works great, especially the split screen which you need to install in order to access the feature, you cannot enable via joystick - All in all a quality build … no dead pixels or other build issues I could detect after thorough inspection. - If you have an AMD graphics card you have the added AMD Freesync compatibility, I have a Nvidia GTX 970 so could not tap into this technology - Price is very reasonable for what you get in this monitor
Cons: - Starting with the paper manuals you get in the box, it is very basic and does not really tell you about all the features. Rather load the CD and go straight to the owner’s manual on the one CD, take a few minutes to read through that to get insight to what this LED monitor can do. - The sound through the speakers of any monitor is not great compared to stand alone monitors so don’t expect Bose quality; it is OK but not great. - Real estate is lost when viewing movies or playing games, not the monitors fault, it is that games etch are not yet optimized for 2560 x 1080 display across an ultra-wide screen.
Overall Review: The unit arrived at my door in the retail packaging, no outer box, was a bit surprised to be honest. Unpacking it reveals a huge 25.5 inch wide by 12.5 inch all black monitor. It was well packaged so no damage to the monitor. In the box you will find a HDMI cable, power adapter, the stand and Led monitor. It you are half tech savvy you can quickly figure out how to assemble the stand and hook up the HDMI cable and power cable. The easy setup guide is very limited in content, it shows you how to assemble the stand, hook up the cables (power and HDMI) and access the on screen menu using the small joystick at the center bottom of the screen. So it is adequate to get you started. After this you power up your PC and you will see the monitor identifies what input you have i.e. DVI, DP (display port) or HDMI. I used the DP cable and was really impressed with the display quality, colors are vivid and crisp. I have a 27 inch Samsung LED monitor and the LG 29UM67 is definitely superior. The unit came with two software CD’s one with the owner’s manual, monitor and the other CD with the software for screen splitting and dual controller. Software on the CD is for both Windows and MAC. I strongly recommended you download the owner’s manual to get into all the features especially the OSD menus. Then off course you need to install the split screen and dual controller software to enable those features as well. No here is the down side…when viewing/streaming movies and playing games you lose real estate on the side of your wide screen, about 3 inches on either side, not the monitors fault, unfortunately games and videos are not yet optimized for 2560 x 1080 display across an ultra-wide screen. Yes you will also be disappointed when you start up your favorite game, hopefully in time that will change. Also coming from a 27 inch LED I noticed that you lose 2 inches of real estate from the top to the bottom of the screen. All in all the monitor really impressed me, it has tons of great features, crisp clean vivid display with a very affordable price tag, well done LG !
Pros: Lot's of good with this monitor: - 21:9 is the future. It's the cinema standard so if you want to watch movies on your computer unless going out to a TV, there is no better monitor format than 21:9 - More games are being designed to 21:9. If you are a gamer, this monitor is for you. - Tons of settings. I actually found this monitor to be just about perfect out of the box, which was a nice surprise. I'm used to spending 1-2 hours playing with settings to get a monitor dialed in, and after setting this one up and comparing to my "bench reference" monitor, I found it to be nearly dead-on. If you are a photographer, graphic designer or just someone who really wants their monitor set up to a perfect sRGB or Adobe color-space, then this is the monitor for you. I have access to calibration equipment and I found that it met the sRGB spec nearly perfectly. The color accuracy on this monitor is mind boggling, at this price point. - Included software is excellent. You can configure for multiple split-screen formats, and you can even run two separate computers into this monitor and move between split-screens. For those who run Apple and PC this gets rid of the endless "bobble head" syndrome switching between two physical monitors. Very nice job, LG! - Sound through the included speakers is very usable. - Stand is decent, and has a solid feel when tilting. - I was not able to exercise the AMD freesync feature. However, I "get it" and am confident that LG has also nailed this; if you are a gamer the complete fluidity of motion that this card/monitor synch technology provides will be important to you. Kudos to LG for including this. - "Black Stabilizer" feature is nice. It's a smart contrast tool, where it will level out areas of the screen that are too dark. This is great for working with photos, and for games. I'm a heavy photoshop user and constantly have to have two windows open to catch stuff that is hidden in photos due to contrast -- this instantly fixes that problem. - Input lag is a non-issue. It's a 5ms panel which is over 10x lower the threshold any normal human can detect. - Text is crystal clear on this monitor, and the whites are literally "paper white". Best I have ever seen. Very bright IPS panel. - The joystick navigator (nicely placed at the bottom middle edge of the monitor), is awesome. For years we have suffered with hidden buttons on monitors and having to train our fingers to hit the right button. Not with this monitor, the joystick is a genius move on LG's part - you will love it. - Menu allows you to turn off the power LED. Always nice when manufacturers remember this. - VESA 75x75 mount point on back/center of monitor. I hate it when manufacturers fail to provide VESA mount ability on their panels. If you want to wall mount this, or find a snazzy fully articulating desk pedestal-style mount, you can.
Cons: Absolutely zero technical cons. The only "con" I can point out is the price; the entry ticket is a little high here but if you have a need for a monitor like this it is worth every penny.
Overall Review: Remember you are "only" going to get 60hz out of this across DVI or HDMI. And with a monitor like this your cables matter. Before you install it make sure you have the latest/best spec HDMI cable or DVI-D. For example, I inadvertently hooked it up initially with a DVI-I cable. Once I saw it fail at 2560x1080 I realized what was up. Switched to DVI-D and it was pure joy. Do not skimp on cables.
Pros: Where to start? This to me is one nice monitor, 29 inches of ultrawide greatness. Built in speakers which sound pretty good and play well enough at even higher volume levels. I really like the fact that now when I watch a blu ray movie or dvd movie I can go with the aspect ratio of the video and it seems to give a more true widescreen cinematic experience, without having to change the aspect by stretching or what not. I didn't have to mess with any color or brightness settings, it came with very nice presets out of the box, however there are plenty of control options for anyone who wants to apply their own settings. It has audio in and out, In from your computer if you do not use HDMI. It has DVI, a display port connection, and 2 yes 2 HDMI connections, that with the provided software you can switch between for use of two computers or any combination of say PC and gaming system, or bluray/ dvd. It looks great and runs at 2560 x 1080 beautifully. Movies are just amazing looking on this monitor, and gaming its just amazing to be able to see more of the gaming environment, being able to see stuff lurking around the corner or hiding off in the shadows, stuff which you most likely would not have noticed before is just pure awesome. Being able to run split screen with the wideness of this monitor is also a great bonus can run a game on one half and maybe a movie or the internet on the other half. If needed can run four separate windows for four programs at once however you need to run for your needs and environment. Overall very nice looking and sleek monitor, well worth the price, but if you can catch it on sale by all means grab this one, you wont be disappointed, I'm not.
Cons: Really no cons for this monitor at all, wish I had one for each computer in the house, so everyone could share in my joy.
Overall Review: I recommend this monitor, great for gaming, movies, even the internet looks great on here. Worth the price, nice looking, plenty of hookups for your needs. Get it, enjoy it, Ultrawide for the WIN.

Pros: This monitor is extremely crisp. The LED is incredibly bright and can light up the entire room it is in. After I turned the brightness down to approx. 30% my eyes were able to adjust and not feel burdened by the colors. After working many years at home as a developer and now in an office. I really wish I could petition my employer to purchase these monitors instead of 2. The ability to have everything side by side without having to jump from monitor to monitor is incredible. Gaming on this is incredible. It is not often that I can play a FPS game and not get FPS sickness. This screen resolution is able to help my eyes focus in, and not make me sick while playing. Even in tight spaced hallways and rooms! Strategy games are able to display a lot more of the battlefield/map that you are on, make sure that the game you are looking to play is fully supportive of ultra wide or you may get some strange display issues. The assembly and base of this monitor went together very easily. Just make sure the bottom is in snug, or the screws wont line up properly. The base is very sturdy and does not wobble around. The screen is able to tilt up and down on the base and stays tight in position once released. Comes with a HDMI cable, which if connected with HDMI, there is no need for a second cable to hook up audio connections.
Cons: Lack of general support for ultra wide screen monitors with streaming services as well as game design. Widescreen movies have to be scaled to fit on to the screen. This is only a downfall until movies start coming out with ultra wide versions. This monitor really requires a video card or a powerful enough machine to handle rendering to the screen at these resolutions. On my i3 laptop / 8 gigs ram / onboard video, this struggled to even display a streaming video onto the screen. My desktop with video card and an i7 had absolutely no problems at all.
Overall Review: I frequently said that 23 inch wide screen monitors were large enough and had all of the screen real-estate that I would ever need. As a developer I’ve ran multiple monitors for many years. Often and most common is 2x 23” monitors on my desk. I had to turn the brightness on this monitor way down. Even in the daylight, there is no way my eyes can handle any high contrast colors on the screen. I work all day on 2 widescreen LCD monitors, and this blows them away. I really think I’m going to go down to just this monitor, there is not much to trade coming from 2x 23” widescreen, except for convenience on the desk. I’m not sure how you would manage to get enough space to run 3 of these wide as shown in the pictures. This is relatively huge. The menu is fairly easy to navigate, it was not overly difficult to figure out, but different. The cons listed above are more food for thought, than they are really cons. Most in the market for an ultra wide would likely understand these before purchasing.
