Question 1

Is the ASUS VA259HGA R 25” FHD monitor compatible with gaming consoles and PCs that use HDMI or DisplayPort connections without additional adapters?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS VA259HGA monitor supports HDMI and VGA inputs but does not have a DisplayPort connection. So, it will work directly with gaming consoles and PCs that have HDMI ports without needing an adapter. If your device only has DisplayPort, you’d need an active adapter to connect.

Since this monitor runs at 1080p and 120Hz with Adaptive-Sync, it’s a strong fit for gaming through HDMI. Just keep in mind that the lack of DisplayPort may be a limitation if you prefer that connection standard or want advanced features some DisplayPort-only displays offer.

Question 2

How does the multi-threaded vs single-threaded performance of the ASUS VA259HGA 25” FHD 120Hz IPS monitor compare to the AOC 24G2 24” FHD 144Hz IPS monitor for gaming and multitasking?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS VA259HGA and AOC 24G2 monitors don’t have a CPU or GPU inside them, so concepts like multi-threaded or single-threaded performance don’t apply directly. Instead, for gaming and multitasking, the VA259HGA offers a 120Hz refresh rate versus the AOC’s 144Hz, meaning the AOC can display slightly smoother motion if your graphics card can push frame rates that high.

If you're deciding strictly between these two for gaming fluidity, the AOC’s higher refresh rate might feel better, especially for fast-paced games. The ASUS still provides solid performance with adaptive sync and a responsive 1ms MPRT IPS panel, so it’s a good pick if you prioritize color accuracy and viewing angles over a few extra frames per second.

Question 3

Have any users reported firmware-related flickering or input lag issues after updating the ASUS VA259HGA 25” FHD 120Hz IPS monitor?

Accepted Answer

There haven't been widespread reports of firmware-related flickering or input lag issues with the ASUS VA259HGA 25” FHD 120Hz IPS monitor after updates. This model uses an IPS panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT, which helps maintain smooth motion and minimal lag for typical gaming or productivity use.

If you’re experiencing any flickering or input lag, it’s worth checking your connection cables and GPU drivers, as those often have a bigger impact. Also, enabling Adaptive-Sync can help reduce tearing and improve overall responsiveness, especially during fast-paced gaming sessions.

Question 4

Does the ASUS VA259HGA monitor require a BIOS or firmware update before first use to enable the 120Hz refresh rate?

Accepted Answer

You don’t need a BIOS or firmware update to use the ASUS VA259HGA’s 120Hz refresh rate. The monitor supports 120Hz out of the box, so you just need to connect it with a compatible cable (like HDMI) and enable the refresh rate in your computer’s display settings if it doesn’t switch automatically.

Keep in mind that achieving the full 120Hz depends on your graphics card and settings supporting that refresh rate at 1080p. If your system or cable isn’t compatible, the monitor will default back to 60Hz, which is still perfectly usable but won’t deliver the smoother motion experience.

Question 5

Should I buy the ASUS 25” FHD 120Hz VA259HGA now or wait for the next generation with potential upgrades?

Accepted Answer

If you need a reliable 25-inch 1080p monitor with fast 120Hz refresh for smooth gaming and decent color accuracy from an IPS panel, this ASUS VA259HGA is a solid choice right now. It supports Adaptive-Sync for tear-free gameplay and comes with eye care features for longer sessions.

Waiting for a next-gen model might bring improvements like higher resolution or faster response times, but if you prioritize instant use and value, this monitor delivers well for 1080p gaming and general use. Unless you have specific upgraded features in mind, this one balances price and performance effectively today.

Question 6

What are the connectivity options available on the ASUS VA259HGA monitor?

Accepted Answer
