Logitech G940 Flight System

Pros: Nice force feedback joystick with good selection of buttons and hat switch/mini controller, rudder pedals are ok and have a special carpet holder strip that can be used for carpeted floors, dual throttle quadrant that can be used as one or as two independent throttle controls. Throttle quad has a nice setup of buttons for programming functions and hat switch and rotaries as well.

Cons: There are unfortunately some hardware related issues pertaining to throttle ( spiking rotaries,R1,R2 wheels ). Turns out the wires are getting pinched and wear causing this and Logitech will not address it. They were good to work with and sent me two replacements both of which developed the same problems,the last one after developing this againwas outside the 1 year warranty, only thing logitech would do is sell me a complete new one at half price ( $150 ).Unit cost $275 so total investment for this would have been $425 --- no way !! I ended up taking this completely apart and rewiring the throttle quad, the way it should have been,took a while but it can be done .

Overall Review: This is a lot of money to invest in a product that has some pretty serious design flaws. If you are handy and enjoy challenges, this may not be too bad of an investment,if you want something that you can plug in the usb port and not worry about, I recommend looking at other products.

Pros: Quick Delivery from Newegg

Cons: Unit was essentially DOA. Input using the 8-point view button on the joystick resulted in violent corresponding force-feedback motion of the entire joystick. Newegg refuses to accept return as the item was identified at the time of order as not eligible for the usual return policy, bummer

Pros: Installs easily, feels good, FFB works well, configured in AH II with little difficulty

Cons: Throttle needs more weight, not enough hats, lack of center detents is unforgivable, cheap paper inserts for buttons laughable, lip on back of the rudders too shallow (for my size 11 clodhoppers)

Overall Review: I have been playing PC flight sims for quite some time now, since X-Wing was the hot, new title and this stick has helped me remain in controlled flight better than any other stick that I have tried. During the many years I have used Thrustmaster (all the way through the F-22 stick), CH, a different Logitech FFB stick, and the Saitek x45, and this has been a welcome change but the lack of detents is a big problem especially since all of the rotaries need to be calibrated and you cannot do it just by feel. Also since I have started using this instead of the CH Fighterstick I can confidently say that there are not enough hats to handle all the inputs in Aces High II that I am used to (as I hate mode states) but this HOTAS has been fun to fly with so I am probably nitpicking a few things. :)

Pros: If it worked might be able to come up with one to justify 1 egg.

Cons: No fixes to the listed community problems. Read the logitech forums carefuly to see if problems with the system applies to your sims.

Overall Review: I read the reviews here and determined it was user error. The error is on my end. This thing is junk. 99% of sims out there do not recognize it and no one is willing to fix it, neither logitech (they gave up on this thing in 2010) nor game coders can seem to fix it either. I saw 1 post where a guy completely rewired and reboarded the thing to make it work. That is how extreme the issues are with this stick.

Pros: More possible function/button/hat/ministick assignments than I have been able to use so far. Forces are easily adjusted and can be very realistic depending on your preferences. I'm really enjoying differential braking now and the throttles have just the right amount of resistance.

Cons: I'm left handed and this is clearly built for righties. Still, every stick out there at this time seems to be for righties. The stick handle is a too long for my hand but a bit of dense foam above the rest resolved that. Pedals and throttles are connected to the stick instead of directly to the PC. If the stick has problems the whole HOTAS is out of action while you wait on repairs.

Overall Review: A left handed version would easily get a 5 egg rating. Competitive price compared to other HOTAS rigs and possibly cheaper than buying separate stick/pedal/throttle components. I would have bought this from Newegg but it was out of stock when my old stick died. I always try dealing first with Newegg and have never been let down by them.

Pros: This is my 1st FF stick so that took some getting used to, but once you got the hange of it it works out quite nicely. The faster you are flying the more resistance you get on the stick. At stalls it will start jerking around and at slow speed the stick has almost no resistance at all. Hardware looks/feels sturdy. Carpet lock on the Rudder pedals is nice. Overall I liked the hardware, it has 1 USB plug into the computer and 1 power cord for the FF. Buttons all have a positive feel.

Cons: The Logitech Gaming Profiler Software which allows you to take full advantage of the buttons/hats is of very poor quality. The latest version will crash your system is you are using a 64bit OS.(Win 7 and Win Vista) The prior versions lack some basic functionallity. There is some center slop with the joystick but it did not seem too bad. The trim dials are on the joystick base which seems backwards, a better location would be on the throttle side so you do not have to reach across with your left hand to trim. The buttons on the throttle have 2 back lights (red or green), but only show green unless you write some software yourself to change the colors. (Would be a good project for someone to integrate with Devicelink in IL2 to show gear status, etc.) Windows recognizes this as 3 separate controllers, so if you are using a game that only allows 1 controller it does not help much. Logitech Tech Support is hit or miss, mostly miss at this point.

Overall Review: In a nutshell, Logitech is on the right footing with the hardware, but their software developers need to graduate high school 1st the software is in its infancy. I cannot recommend this hardware at this time due to the software limitations. If you must have FF (And it is nice) and you have the extra change then go for it, otherwise wait until their software works.

Pros: Nice layout of the sticks in general. Comfortable. Plenty of cable length

Cons: The first stick was faulty and returned for replacement. The replacement sticks arrived and worked out of the box for roughly 2 weeks. Considering the original purchase, first RMA, and retrieval of the replacement, after the replacement went bad after the very short time, contacting Newegg about another replacement was out of the question due to the return/replacement policy. At this point I am left to deal through Logitech support. BE WARNED. Getting any response from their support forums is like watching grass grow during a drought. It doesn't happen. The Profiler software is nothing but a joke. Overall, there are too many conflicts that have to be messed with to get it to work right. TO ALL HELICOPTER ENTHUSIASTS--- SETTING THIS PARTICULAR FLIGHT STICK TO CONTROL EVEN CLOSE TO THE REAL WORLD-------ALL I'LL SAY IS----HAVE FUN!!

Overall Review: Logitech IS on the right design track. But their lack of tech support in their forums---And in their programing software is lacking
