Comments: Moral of the story: don't skimp on paper. Double check for any imperfections (i.e. staples) before running it through the machine, and avoid manually duplexing.

Overall Review: I have not purchased yet, so I cannot comment on the print quality. Some other posts mention drum life issues after installing. I own the HL-5370DW printer. With that unit and per the manual directions, I was able to open the front door and press the Go button (while the door was still open) until all lights were lit. After releasing, the drum life is reset. I believe the page count is stored in the printer not in the drum. Maybe that printer needs a firmware update.

Drum does not seem as good as the real deal. 12/29/2010 8:38:04 PM

Pros: Price.

Cons: I did a few test prints with this drum. They looked OK (but maybe not great). Then I took the drum out of the machine, put it in an opaque plastic bag, and put it in a closet for about a month. I did not seal the bag. The closet is dark, but it has a light and occasionally the light is on for as much as a few hours. The light is not especially bright, and the bag with the drum was not directly under the light or in a position that seemed likely to get a lot of light exposure. When I went to use the drum again, I found that print outs did not look very good. The blacks of graphics were only 80 to 90 percent black. I also noticed a thin stripe down the page where images appeared faint. So was the drum damaged by light exposure, or was it just not a very good drum? I suspect the latter. This drum might be fine for school and business reports. But when quality really is required, this is not a drum I would use. For best results, pay the extra and get the genuine Brother drum.

Pros: It works great, just as it is supposed to work.

Cons: I replaced my old drum with this one when it had 16% life on it and this one it appears to have the same (inherited) 16% left in it. How long it will last only time will tell....

Overall Review: Great product for the price compared.

Pros: WORKS. INSTALLED WITHOUT A HITCH.

Cons: INSTALLED IN HL5370. PRINTER STATUS REPORT THAT DRUM HAS 20,250 INITIAL PAPER YIELD RATHER THAN THE 25,000 ADVERTISED.
